wow... bought a guitar for my mid-life crisis, and I surf around.. listening to ALL kinds of guitar music. This is cool. Now, what I know about classical music would not fill a thimble, but, this community will not attract new fans...unless they have patience with us newbies. SO... great stuff, liked it a lot. Will probably go listen to Carlos Santana ten minutes from now... lol. Variety is the spice of life!
That is the absolute truth! Williams' version is the only one I've heard that uses the correct amount of speed. People tend to believe that songs like this one and "the flight of the bumble bee" tend to sound better the faster you play, but that is a huge mistake. Yes, there is a correct amount of speed in order to express the true meaning behind the song, in this case, the flight of a homming bird.
I mean no offence but it is my belief that Segovia was neither clean nor overly musical. Williams of course has a perfect, clean sound yet Bream remains my personal favourite even though his sound may be more rough than Williams'.
this is the way i like this song.... not as fast as a bullet, this must be played as fast as a colibri...
when i listen to a 'john williams' version is the way i like it
