  • You know...I think this is my favourite video of yours.

  • Shamefully only just getting around to saying this is brilliant: This is brilliant!

    "*waves maniacally* EVERYTHING ELSE!"

  • @TheCooper365Project I will give infinite internet-hugs to the first person who gifs it :-P

  • What exactly does that chemical-free chemistry kit use instead of chemicals?

  • @104cats I can only assume the box contains a complete vacuum

  • I love watching these sorts of videos! It makes me feel lucky that I absolutely love science and all the complex things surrounding it and its different branches...

Makes me want to learn more! **sigh** I'm so glad that I chose a science degree at uni (then hopefully go into medicine - yay! :D)

  • @minaj08 wow, medicine!? That's amazing, good luck!

  • @rossexton Yep medicine...I'm attempting on getting in postgraduate...I'm just doing a biomedical science degree first...so far, I'm enjoying it :D

  • My aunt and uncle are scientists. My brain has blocked out any possibility that scientists could be sexy.

Haha thank you for the shout out!

  • @KayleeCommons Just face it Kaylee, your aunt and uncle are sexy :-P

You're welcome :-) I'm looking forward to your next video!

  • Since I study linguistics, I chuckled when you mentioned everyone having a different interpretation of words. Aaaah the joys of miscommunication. And poo-poo on the fear mongering used by manufacturers to make a profit. :P We nerds must protect not only words but also the fools who misuse them. It's a tough life isn't it?

  • @nihonjenn I am considering setting up some sort of lycra-clad nerd task-force/fighting team. But my estate agent can't find a decent volcano lair.

  • @rossexton I can send you some ninjas from here in Japan for your squad. They bring their own lyrca and fold up lair. They just need you to supply some lava... and you're all set.

  • Another great video. I just purchased strawberry jam that says on the label "does not contain any preservatives". I wonder what they consider the sugar to be... Sugar and salt are some of the most basic preservatives because they kill bacteria through osmotic stress.

  • @skynet71 Thank you :-) Exactly, they just do it for marketing... unfortunately, it works.

  • Great video! Thanks : )

  • @GengoNoTabi Thank you for watching :-)

  • I was reading Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld and that was the first time I've encountered the word boffin. I didn't realize it had a negative connotation.

  • @panditty it's not overly negative, some people use it in admiration. I just think it just promotes a stereotype which is false.

  • Marry me? :) great video! and you're right science is soo boring...! :P

  • I don't know this idiom boffin. Over here though, we have "egghead," which is equally used and abused in major media outlets. I was the kind of kid who wanted to be an egghead, though. But then I never took any of the classes. :-/

  • @kalchikc It's mainly a UK thing, I think. 'Boffin' never really put me off the science either. It's just that the immense irony of the ignorance behind its use is baffling.

  • This was fantastic!

  • @noorgansjustawesome thank you :-)

  • I would like to thank you for introducing me to this "boffin" word........ I like it.

It's such a fun word... it should be used in a more interesting way than to put down scientists.

  • @SaeraLikesTea it's great word, just a shame how it's used

  • FUN! MAGIC!

  • @Imbitingmytongue I love it, but the child on the box is straight from my nightmares

  • I don't think you're pedantic and irritable! As a science AND linguistic student, I really enjoyed listening to your thoughts. Also, geeks are on the way to control the world, as you mentioned, so I think you're on the right path!

    Plus, your enthusiasm is contagious!

    L

  • @AnHourInAMinuteLG you rock!

  • I meant to put I love your videos LIKE carbon loves bonding. . . Whoops. It's been a long day.

  • Absolutely fabulous. :) I just had a talk similar to this with a friend about how they market makeup as better for your skin because it's "Mineral Makeup", even though most shiny makeup is made from shiny minerals, and most face powders are talc. As far as I'm concerned, anything is a step up from lead and arsenic makeup. Poor, poor Renaissance women with Belladonna in their eyes. But I digress. . . I love your videos carbon loves bonding. :)

  • @xXxZiexXx Don't even get me started on make-up and shampoo adverts! "Contains polypeptides" - equivalent of saying a zoo contains birds. Also, since carbons affinity for bonding is pretty much responsible for life on Earth, I love this comment as much as Fluorine loves electrons :-)

  • great video man. :-)

  • @aednil thank you :-)
