Luis Russell originally recorded the tune as Call Of The Freaks for Okeh January 15, 1929. Under the name Luis Russell And His Burning Eight. Personnel included Louis Metcalfe on trumpet and William "Bass" Moore on tuba. With a different personnel including Henry "Red" Allen on trumpet and Pops Foster on string bass, he recorded it again as The New Call Of The Freaks on September 6, 1929 as Luis Russell And His Orchestra.
the first cartoon where betty was realized as a human instead of a anthropomorphic French poodle :3 her floppy poddle ears became hoop earings and her nose because a button nose lol
"Any Questions? Any Answers?" I didn't know where Groucho's joke was from until I saw this! Makes sense, the Marx Brothers were at Paramount at the time. Neat little film here though!
@Gangstagran , The Call Of The Freaks which is performed throughout the cartoon was NOT recorded on this soundtrack by Luis Russell's band. In 1935, his band eventually became Louis Armstrong's (he stayed on as pianist and musical director), in 1948, he retired from full time performing and taught music, while running a store. In 1959, he visited Panama (where he was born) and gave a piano recital. he died in NYC in 1963.

Oh my God I love Betty Boop cartoons. Especially the older 1st half of the cartoons span. Pure great animation and of course the best music.

Fabulous music by Louis Russel. But where's his name on the credits? Russel was a genius who ended his life as a chauffeur

@Gangstagran Yep, immaculate music makes this one of my favorite Boop cartoons
