I agree the 993 is a much better car, but you can get a 996 with only 4--50K miles for 25,000. At 25,00 you cant touch a 993 with any less than 100,000 miles. If i have REAL money i will get a 993, but if not il settle for a STILL amazing 996.
The driver in the 993 is much better tan the one in the 996. The 996 should be able to pull away from the 993. More power and better brakes! Traffic or not!
I love both of these cars. A 911 is my dream car, and after i grad from college this year the first thing is finding one i can afford and buying it! Might as well get it while i can before kids, wife, bills bills bills pile up!!!
@cinapek Don't limit yourself Cinapek...a 993 isn't like dreaming of owning a Mclaren F1..it is achievable. If you'd told me 10 years ago I'd be driving a TVR today I wouldn't know how it was possible.
I don't feel this 993 underpowered at all against the 996 GT3 in this vid. It is a 993RS, so it is the equivalent car (or maybe even more radical, like a GT3 RS) on the previous generation, both quite good track machinery. Now the 997 is my favourite, because it remnds me of the 993... with the new abilities :)
This video perfectly describes for me the problem with power. When he's following the GT3 at the start the 993 looks frustratingly underpowered on the straights. I kept thinking it looked underpowered compared to its grip.. then when the GT3 is gone and there's nothing faster to compare it to the car looked perfect. It and seemed to have the perfect balance of grip, power and gearing. It's the story of my life that a car only feels fast enough until you meet something quicker!

Well - i drive a 993 Targa as well, but i'd NEVER overtake anybody on the RIGHT side at the ring; and the slow Hamburg 996 driver looks so slow there - drivin'miles away from the ideal lin - wrong brake ponts - quite embarrassing the whole thing!
Go & look for Stefan Belloff - the King of the RING - forever with PORSCHE 956 and 6:33 sec. -unbeaten until today !
