  • im 12 and iv just started cheerleading and i think it IS a sport coz i have did loads more sports that people know is sports and cheerleading is the hardest thing iv done yet. For people who dont think it is they havnt even tryed it and you have to be more physical and put much more effort in to it than alot of sports. it is stupid for people to even think about it not being a sport with out trying it coz they dont know how much work goes into it.

  • hey,my name is Alyssa too :) !!! and i'm a cheerleader also :)

  • @scooterxtwinkie The only way cheerleading will EVER be considered a "sport" is if we take out the element of actually being objective on how sparts are scored and let cheerleaders perform for judges that have no real rules to score by, just a subjective idea of whether they liked it or not. There is no sport in cheerleading, unless you consider me sitting in the football stands shooting spit wads as the cheerleaders fly through their performance a sport as well.

  • @Droolbaby exact opposit; only way cheer will be accepted as a sport is two fold 1. when it accepts that WINNING includes using the SCIENCE of sport to give you an edge & to protect your athletes. 2. when it creates rules as objectively as possible. They are centuries behind in those 2 areas. OBJECTIVE & SUBJECTIVE (but made as objective as possible) are areas of sport that have existed since the beginning of mankind. picking WINNER: Subjective needs knowledge, objective takes little

  • @gogems123 The only thing "hard" about cheerleading is getting past the fake smiles put on the faces of the "actors" portraying the cheerleaders. It's all performance...and performance is not a sport...unless you consider theater acting as a sport as well...you're and actor...that is all. Get over it and just accept that fact.

  • @Droolbaby ur so stupid, cheerleading isn't acting,ur probally just a gothic poser with nothing better to do!!!

  • @twinkle16ify Well you may be right...or may be wrong...either way I know what I am...I am an entertainer...you, however can't figure out whether you are dancer, entertainer or wanna-be athlete with no sport to support or function in...so, the fact of the matter remains YOU ARE AN ACTOR WITH POOFY HAIR AND A FAKE SMILE...

  • @Droolbabylook who's about talking about fake!

  • @twinkle16ify amazing huh? fake people, fake smiles, fake sport and flakey attitude...you're doing good hun...keep racking up the slut points...you'll get there one day.

  • @Droolbaby Genius! "Keep racking up the slut points", I love that line.

  • Cheerleading is no more a sport then Dancing. Jumping around in uniforms hardly constitutes "athletic". I can see cheerleading being considered a type of dance/entertainment, but how can cheerleading be considered a sport when the scoring for the competitions are based on a subject view of the outcome. Hockey, soccer, football, baseball, racing, etc requires the performance to an objective. the object to cheerleading is purely entertainment...just like dance, music and theater.

  • @gogems123

I am a cheerleader but I was also an elite gymnast before that and gymnastics is 1000 times harder that cheerleading.

  • I think there are more than 4 different types of cheerleading.

  • @gogems123 Oh yes, clapping, yelling and jumping is so strenuous.

  • @greenheart49 what's your problem? don't have enough spirit?

  • @twinkle16ify Spirit isn't in my vocabulary, faggot.

  • @greenheart49 look who's talking.Give it up,witch

  • @greenheart49 how much of a witch can you be!!!!! i am sweet, and a cheerleader,if you have nothing nice to say about cheerleading or me,don't say it!!!! and any way,if ur so "against" cheerleading, why are you watching this video.Find something better to do maggot

  • @twinkle16ify First off, I certainly didn't start talking (or typing rather) to you, whore. You just jumped in to this argument, originally proposed to gogems123, like the Amerifag attention whore you are. Get your ass back in the kitchen.

  • @greenheart49 you really need to shut your big bitchy russian mouth. And shut the heck about me,you are just just some big, weird, witch that probally just wants attention, yeah i did jump in because you were insalting cheerleading and cheerleaders.Your just jealous

  • @twinkle16ify Thats so true, Twinkle! Oh my. I'm so jealous. How I wish I could be a stuck up blonde bimbo. I love it when you use my insults on me. My insults; I have an immunity to them. I love the naive nature of your comments, the awkwardness you feel when you say "bitch". Your inability to say hell, or "fuck you" amuses, but frustrates me. Why must you hold back?

  • @greenheart49 because I'm a half way decent person :) And yes,i am a blonde :)

  • @twinkle16ify Half way, and only halfway.

  • @greenheart49 i new you were gonna throw it at me like that!!!! that's what i love about you,you use everything i say against me!You knew what i meant when i said "i'm a half way decent" but i still used to hurt me

  • @twinkle16ify I hurt you? My job here is done. Cheers!

  • @greenheart49 lol...... you are so pathetic it's funny :)

  • @twinkle16ify Yeah, that doesn't matter because I'm beautiful.

  • @greenheart49 i don't have time for you,i have to go to cheer practice.Talk (type) to you later! ;D

  • okay im not trying to cause trouble... and yes cheer is a extremely hard sport. but being an equistrian is so much. harder im on a competitive level for both sports but equistrian is so much harder try getting on a horse(and im not talking well trained perfect horses) and jumping or a fence twice the height of you then tell me which sport is harder!

  • What happened to Lauren ?

  • I TOTALY AGREE WITH YOU! im in allstar cheerleading and i have gotten hurt so meny times its not even funny! i hate it when people say cheerleading isnt a sport!

  • @Cheercat12345 arggg... injury does not define a sport. ESPECIALLY one where 90% of the injuries are avoidable. Check out the existing stunt SPORT. it has consitent rules WORLD WIDE. Each country only has ONE national Champion. There is only ONE world champion. Skills are more complex, done higher in the air, takes twice as much training as cheer yet the injury rate is 300% less than cheer. Search it .. "Sports Acrobatics" AKA "Acrobatic Gymnastics" Acro Gym is NOT televised!!!

  • @coachgeo ...and these "skills", as you call them, enhance the entertainment of the performance...and as we all know, cheerleading is a performance (the fake smiles, make-up, hair-dos, uniforms, etc) and is done for the benefit of the crowd and not the quanitifed measure of any one goal. Football you score touchdowns, hockey you score goals, racing you get through the finish line first...cheerleading, you entertain the crowd more??? Sorry, that's entertainment, not sport.

  • @Droolbaby while agree for different reasons that USA cheer is NOT a sport..... but your reasons do not hold water. Ice Skaters, Acrobatic Gymnast. Rhythmic Gymnast, Woman's Artistic Gymnast, Synchronized swimmers and a few others I probably missed that are legitimate sports also seek a level of crowed entertainment. Granted don't seek it as much.... but still do.

  • @coachgeo While those activities are great, the main purpose is to entertain. For example, speed skating is about power, athletics and completion of a lap in as fast a time as possible, all while figure skating has a performance base to it. Speed skting=sport, figure skating=performance. You need some athletic abilities while you entertain the crowd. cheer, cheer sport, artistic gym, etc contains the elements of performance and are therefore are entertainers and not athletes or a sport.

  • @Droolbaby - nice theory.. but history stands solidly against you. Acrobatic feats and track and field feats are the very first athletically contested events recorded. Acrobatic feats have the element of performance as part of them. As such feats became organized "sports" rules consistent across nations from this grew the Ultimate SPORTing event. The Olympic games. What you "feeel" like are "performance activities as not sports have been Olympic SPORTS long before you had "feelings".

  • @Droolbaby a second point.... understand where your point of view come; question is DO YOU? There is a monopoly of ball sports; monopolies exist by eleminating others unfairly. Was not INTENDED to become a monopoly but that what it is & exactly how it behaves. LIke a blind dog your being lead right along as clueless as ever. Untill you have stepped onto other side you wont get this. kids no longer get chace to step to other side due to untrained PE teachers... the monopoly contiues.

  • @coachgeo Where do you get this Monopoly of ball sports? the question here is about cheering as a sport. there is no objective scoring system like baseball, football, futbol, tennis, golf, hockey, basketball, cricket, etc. Cheer, like dance, is an expressive form of communication. the score is based off what the crowd and the judges feel is an appropriate score. I say if cheer is considered a sport, we need to also lable dance, acting and music as sports as well.

  • @coachgeo - PS- about untrained PE teachers. this tid bit is comeing from a PE teacher / SPORT SCIENTIST and former college sport coach! As universities drop sports from Athletic departments.... they ALSO drop the requirment for future Phys. Ed teachers to have any teaching knowledge of that sport(s). Essentially this has brought us to the point Phys ed teachers have no knowledge to adequately teach anything but ball sports and track. This further's the monopoly's goals.

  • @coachgeo Because ball sports, track, field are objective activities. Gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, figure skating, skydiving, scuba diving, sync swimming are PERFORMANCE based activities. They fall under the same lines as dance, music, theater, acting, stunts. they shouldn't be under the athletics department, but under the department of theater and dance. Sorry...as an avid hockey player, football linebacker and avid skydiver, I am offended when a dancer/cheerleader compares it as a sport.

  • @Droolbaby- ahhhhh.. well this is a whole different issue and explains things. Very interesting. All can say is feel free to be offended. Can't say much when its your feelings, & insecurities driving this conversation and not history, logic or facts. In time you'll grow a pair and not have your masculinity so easily offended.

  • @coachgeo I will continue to be offended because people like you continue to push performance as a basis for athletics. Gymnastics, cheerleading, scuba, skydiving and other subjectivly judged performances are not sports, should never be considered sports and will continue to OFFEND those of us that ACTUALLY participate IN sports activities.

  • @coachgeo and there are several Olympic sports that are actual SPORTS...pole vault, the various distance and short run events, discus. They are objectivly judged based on athletic performance. they have been since the inception of the Olympics. Needless, unsportsman like activities were added (gymnastics, figure skating, ect) were added later and were never a part of the origins of Olympic Sport. Cheer, gymnastics, ect are not sports while track and field, ball and puck events are sports.

  • @Cheercat12345 that is because it isn't a sport...it's a bunch of gymnasts performing a song and dance routine...on a stage and everything...you're a performer, not an athlete

  • I completely agree, i fell about 3 weeks ago 6ft from the air hitting my head first to the track field. Everyday my cheer girls are always right behind me asking how well im feeling. Currently i cant cheer, but im getting back soon! <3 i love my team so much, im very dedicated, no matter what. Even though i can't cheer with them now, i visit games and cheer with them in the crowd.

  • sorry it just isn't close to a sport

  • why should we have to make videos and fight for our SPORT..you dont see golfers and bowlers havin to do this..its gettin rediculous!!!

  • @cheerbabygirl22 you don't have a sport...you have a dance routine...sorry to tell you that...you're a dancing actor...

  • omg i need to show this to my gay friends who think cheerleading is just jumping around and go team stuff.

  • There is popwarner cheerleading to. Not just college and allstars and highschool!!!. We do things as hard as highschool sometimes even harder. we cn do those full twisting layouts. throwing girls in the air while their spinning and catch them.

  • Cheerleading is very much a sport. Like any other sport out there you have to practice to get better. Same goes with cheerleading. People don't respect cheerleaders as much as they should. We go out there and risk our lives. [[Flyers and bases]].

It is a sport. and I love it.

  • why can't it be a sport? according to the news, cheerleadings the most dangerous SPORT for girls. we sweat, we try, and we win competitions. why not call it a sport?

  • Take a look at my channel, there's an awesome point :)

  • nfl cheer isnt a sport there just girls with hardly anything on shaking there butt

  • thankyou so much for making this video! cheerleading IS a sport! for all those who say its not lemme see ya hit a double toe touch, backtuck, and throw a girl 100+ lbs 10-15 feet in the air and then catch her. cant do it? ya didnt think so

  • well done video. Keep stepping it up cheerleaders!

  • I'm sorry, NFL cheer is not a sport.

All Star Cheer leading is no joke, whatsoever. Those guys are the real deal. College Cheer leading is up there with them, as well.

  • Love this video! and of course cheerleading is a sport! :D

  • hockeyplaya5931 anyone who thinks that honestly doesn't know how fit you actually have to be to do this stuff. Cheerleaders have more muscles and skills than any other sport, because of all the different difficult elements rolled into it.

  • THANK YOU. (: Being a cheerleader has given me so much more pride. It's made me stronger physically and mentally. People bring me down everyday because they say it's not a sport. THEY don't have a TRUE reason why cheerleading isn't a sport. It's not a show, it's a true competitive sport. And, I feel sad about people who think it's not. They have no idea what they are missing. (:

  • Hockeyplaya5931 you know nothing so just keep you mouth shut. I'm a competitive cheerleader and

    I loved this video :)

  • cheerleading is not a sport.. its a competition or a show to please people..

  • wrong. dont leave a negative comment. if you dont like dont watch :D

  • @hockeyplaya5931 you really do nothing..if your not an allstar cheerleader than maybe you would know .. but you havent had a black or a tooth knocked by a girl coming down on you..

  • Yea it is

  • I agree with this video completely

  • amen! (:

thanks for someone finally showing how much dedication & strength cheerleading takes.

  • cheerleading is a sport. most the kids in my school define a sport as something in the olympics or that "competes" well, baseball is no longer going to be in the olympics, and we do compete. cheerleading is the number one most dangerous sport for females. and futhermore, we work harder than most other athletic teams, and our season never ends. and unless yuve tried it, dont say its not, because i guarentee that if yu were to try it yu'd understand how difficult it is. -----> have a nice day (:

  • all im going to say is

    thank you

    youve shown other people that

what i do is a sport

and my team is my family

    thank you

  • Cheeleading isn't a sport because everyone keeps making videos saying that it is a sport. You don't see any videos titled "Football is a sport" or "Golf" is a sport or "tennis is a sport" all you see is videos call "cheerleading is a sport" I dare you to find one video that titled "baseball is a sport"

  • you dont see any because people dont say that its not people always say they are no one ever assumes cheerleading is a sport

  • Are you an 8 year? learn how to form a sentence!

  • just because i forgot my periods doesnt mean i cant form sentences. this isnt school, i can do what i want. i dont have to follow the rules when im typing on youtube.

  • in any other sport if you don't make the catch all you miss is the ball!

  • ur right! but in cheer if u dont catch u could have just cost some one their life. u and i think alike :)

  • this video shows what cheerleaders doo and how they can get hurt soo yaa i cheer on competative cheer and ya for empire elite great video

  • okay schools compete too. so cheerleading is most definetly a sport. we work wayy hard. and heres the quote i loveee for all cheerleaderss: "wimps lift weights, real athletes lift people. -cheelreading*! "

  • I dont really think that standing on the sidelines cheering and dancing is a sport. All-star cheer is more of a sport to me because you are actually COMPETING against other teams. The gymnastics within cheer is definitely a sport, but whether or not cheerleading actually is one is still up for debate

  • Cheerleading is a sport<333.

    i lovee this video.

  • This is soo good lyss, you are so super stealth with all these videos!

  • this video is amzing were do u cheer? i usto cheer with the same coach lauren change was and i was by the stagwe when it happened it was horrible and people dont consider it a spport?

  • YAY! MUSIC!
