Ritchie Blackmore is fucking amazing on this intro...yeah...combined with Paice. Paice+Blackmore=wow. What an amazing combo. And yes...Paice kills in this one.
PETER FIN...you get the Made in Japan album my friend and that solo in The MULE will blow you fucking mind too :O) old school man old school :O)-ps did you here the beat on "You fool no one.."
Ian is humble he dosen't try to over shadow the cats he let's jam on his cloud, but the motha has that natural ability. Jam High way star but 1st take a few whack's off the jay. It intensifies the whole experience. This guy has impecable roll technique I assure you that's his true gift!
What kind of shuffle is that? Thats with one pedal? I've never heard a shuffle that fast with that kind of groove and power! And they reckon Bonham is great?
Amazing foot technique, freakish concert tom playing, phenominal groove, amazing drum sound. He's just too good!!!! He's on another level here, again. Damn him !!!!!! LOL
Holy Moses on Mother Earth! Awesome performance. Ian Paice is one of my first drum heroes, I remember spending countless hours of listening "Made In Europe" and trying to learn his stuff.
@charlessavarese Deep Purple and Ian rules. I spent half the the day in Guitar Center drooling over cymbals and drums. Cheaper today that the 1970''s. I bought some great great head phones.
@eqsmooth The place for cymbals is ebay, my friend. I picked up a 22" Paiste 3000 Power Ride for $150.00! Not only is it discontinued, but it went for $350-$400 new. Excellent condition, and sounds like a million. You still playin'?
@eqsmooth Good you bought Paiste (i have many Paiste Signature series including sweet power crahshes and a set of prototype 13" hihats) but i did convince this kid (you know the ones that play every kit in the store as loud and fast as possible) to p/u vintage 24" zildjian ride for $120.00. It was a beautiful cymbal. i feel old, none of these kids today know who Louis Bellson or Buddy Rich were. I hate Guitar Center but I don't buy online.

@charlessavarese John Bonham is one of the best and Ian Paice is also one of them. In my opinion Ian Paice's style is something between John Bonham's and Buddy Rich's.
getting tighter on this album is the best version ever!
instrumental jams and tommy bolin playing are awesome.and I love Coverdale's screams too...but all the band is on fire and it sad that back in the days they published 'last concert in japan' instead of this bomb!
This live is not so known but it deserves definitely a much more exposition...
How can I get my hands on this complete recording? I take it the entire concert has been taped?

Not as a soloist, he wasn't.

Paice's solo on the Mule was the first drum solo I ever heard. Second was Peart on YYZ. Peart's is my favorite.

I'd say Ian Paice did his best drumming in the MARK IV line up.
He turned onto a more groovy funky kinda style ...IMHO

@charlessavarese Bonham was as good. Moon was a wildly crazy, talented amateur. No discipline.
