only thing i can add to this video is when you are buying your plinking ammo NEVER use winchester white box with the red letters. absolute trash. i had multiple failure to loads. fyi..
I've owned an XDM 9 for almost 2 years now. It is the best gun I've ever used!
I've done lots of research over the years about the accuracy, reliability and effectiveness of various JHP rounds and I have settled on the COR-BON 115g +p/dpx and the Federal 115g +P+. Speer Gold Dot is just OK. Hornady ammo is good but often overpriced. Never use 147 grain in any 9mm ever. Also I do not recommend any Remington JHP, though their target FMJ are fine.
about the bullet sizes, rather the cartridge length.. I"ll say what I've always said... Dead is dead, it doesn't matter how they get there. Most situations will be 15 feet or less, if you can't kill someone with a .380 at 15 feet, you don't need to carry a gun.
Thank the armed forces for our freedoms!? I wasnt aware the us was under attack! I thought that you invaded an oil rich country just after you began to run out of oil, and the WMD's were never found. What planet do you live on! NOONE GETS FREEDOM BY FOLLWING THE ORDERS OF THE OWNERSHIP CLASS.
@Elephantintheroom01 silly liberal we have plenty of oil in the us...just too many left wing laws not allowing us to drill it. do your research before speaking like an uneducated peasant.
First of all, left = 100% government, right = 0%. Your 'left wing' 'right wing' idea is cold war propaganda along the lines of democracy vs communism. Also, whenever you call someone a liberal, your alwayse responding to a socialist act they have taken. Meaning they arnt liberals but socialists, you must think this because of more propaganda on your courporate media. Finally, Bush has admitted it was about the oil
Looks like i know more about your country than you do.
i dont unerstand why people say 9mm doesnt have the stopping power like the 40 cal. Trust me if you shoot someone with a hollow point 9mm anywhere, there going down. Plus with 16 rounds it more then enough. If you can get yourself out of trouble with that many rounds, i seriously dont know what to say.
XDM is a good choice but get the .40. Heres my reason, Efk and Storm lake both make a 9mm conversion barrels. Storm lake also makes a 357 sig. For about a 150 bucks you get a whole nother gun.
a quality XDM 9 mm and high quality 9mm ammo is good and in a fire fight your brain dose not function as it should so having 20 rounds is an advantage and a 9mm hole in someone neck, shoulder, chest or hand is a critical hit. to have this amount of ammo is a big, big, big advantage. i still love my 45 caliber and its my backup gun, a XD compact 45.
Turned 21 on like 5 days ago and made a special trip to a retailer About an hour from where I live. I was going to buy the FN-Five Seven for my first gun (will still buy it later) but decided on the Xd m 9mm. I got it for $599 ... This is probably the best investment or ever made!
I own the XD 9mm SC and I love it. It's also my cc weapon. Handles nice, accurate and easy to clean. Do URself a favor and own one and get one for UR wife or GF and teach her how to shoot. Pam
I like your Baseball/ Football comparison. Good way to put it. Granted I am a pro .45 guy, but I have not beef with the 9mm. If you have the right load with the right bullet it is just as effective. Shot placement and preference is as we say "to each his own" Great vid man.
I never fully load any magazine, even though they're "made for it". I put 15 in my XDM, 8 in my Glock 26 and 20 in my AR-15, which holds 30. They're just easier to load, and maybe the springs will last longer. The 26 is my carry gun, so I carry 3 extra rounds in my pocket just in case.
I have a problem with my xdm. When I completely load up the magazine with 19 rounds I can not get it fully inserted into the pistol. With 18 I can, but I have to push pretty hard on the mag. 17 seems to be the most I can reasonably get in the mag and still be fairly easy to insert. Anyone else have this problem?
You can have that problem with any mag. once you have the mag almost compleatly in "force" it in give it a nice solid tap you wont wreck any thig so long as it is started.
@whitey211 Hey bro, i have the xdm 9mm and have ran into the same problem. Its really tight to release the clip when i have 19 rounds in it, but i can easily when there is 18. Dont feel bad because its supposed to have that much pressure. I have found that before i release the mag i push up on the mag and then press the clip release, its much easier.
thats not cool to say you carry CCW because your an average build. You carry because you care about the safety of others, your friends, and yourself. You're a "Sheep Dog" Protector of sheep.
A little info I just learned. If you want the 40 and have a 9 or vice versa you can get a conversion barrel for about $150. Pretty sweet. Or if you want I think you can step up to a 357. Just some info. EFK is the place to go.
I have a Ruger LCP in .380 that I always have on me. The LCP is almost a direct copy of the Keltec P3AT.
I also carry a XD-40sc .40 cal. which is in between the 9mm and .45 cal. you just seen.
If I only have the LCP, I'll carry 2 spare 6rd mags. If I have both guns I'll carry just 1 spare mag for the LCP and 1 spare 12rd mag for the XD with a 9rd mag in the gun.
I always carry with a round chambered just in case i have to fight off an attacker with one hand while drawing my weapon.
FYI if you want to carry this gun whith out having to wear a big ass shirt pick up a Blade Tech Nano IWB. You'll forget that it's even on you after 1/2 an hr. Very comfertable.
You might want to look harder at your defensive selection. All JHP's are not created equal. If that is a Gold Saber, it's good, but if it's a regular Remington you might want to upgrade. Gold Dots are loved, but personally, if I can find them, I would exclusively carry Rangers or HSTs. They are head and shoulders above every other 9mm made.
Thank you for your comment. I generally carry my p3at and have switched back to corbon hollow points. May I ask why you think that the rangers and hsts are better than the rest? Is it bullet speed, bullet design or the quality of components?
In all of the testing I have seen, these are the only two rounds that work properly in nearly every situation. You'd be amazed how many rounds underpentrate, overpenatrate and fail to expand, or break apart upon impact. When that drugged up maniac is coming at you, you need something that will penatrate 12-15" through any amount of fabric and to expand to .65-.80 EVERY TIME. These two rounds will. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of other great rounds, but these are the champs.
@jsv650675 just found you video good job. i like the hornady taps round myself i carry every day its a .40 cal. xd 4 inch service model. i like the knock down facter the 40s has.
@jsv650675 Rangers are superior. They expand more reliably and expand much bigger as well. Not only that, you can get the ranger "T-Series" and they have some pretty nasty talons on the copper when they expand that just destroy the target. I personally do not like golden sabres. In my tests, they have not expanded reliably nor have they expanded as much as I would have liked them to. IMO carrying golden sabres is about as effective as carrying FMJ.
@KarelYalek the 9mm bullet goes subsonic as some of it's advantages , what it lacks is kinetic energy or bluntly said , punch, the 40mm has punch but it's a slower projectile as well as the 45. So by using the JHP you will gain some kinetic energy out of the shot also let's say you are at home and you are in a defensive situation using a regular FMJ that shot could go through your house and hit something on the next house or idk, with the JHP you minimize that since the shot will expand.
I tryed the Winchester Rangers in my XD-40sc and had nothing but trouble with them for some reason. After about 20rds there was so much debree from the bullets my slide wouldn't go into battery without help and If I racked the slide back and forth junk would fall out. I kept trying to shoot it and ended up bending the feed lips on my magazines when the live rounds started to stove pipe right out of the mag instead of chambering. I had to buy all new magazines.
Awesome gun. Be picking mine up hear in a little when i save up just a little more cash. Be going with the .40(16+1) but the 9(19+1) is still a great gun. Heres a few great home defence rounds Golden Sabers, Gold Dots, Hydrashoks.

If you get a QUALITY IWB holster, the gun is EASILY concealed.
then again, if you live in an open carry state like me, concealing isnt an issue.
