Just makes your mind&soul drift away together when you hear this,as if you could almost really touch the sky while your flying. It ends MUCH too quickly..So glad I was born in this Era,wouldnt have it any other way!
I was on vacation last March in Arizona and came down with a headcold. I decided to go to a pharmacy in town, and "Stone Free" came on the car radio.
"Fuck it" , I said. "I don't care how bad I feel. I'm cranking it up."
And in those 3 or so short minutes, my headcold magically disappeared. It was pretty damned eerie. The headcold vanished without a trace, and I was able to continue on and enjoy my vacation.
For me, this has got to be the most beautiful solo captured on tape of his all too short career. It does "it" for me every time I hear it. So much raw emotion is displayed in this song. The man could paint the most beautiful picture, or just let the listener travel to some far away space with his guitar. Now that is what I call talent. God truly gave him a wonderful gift. Us as well. RIP Jimi.........
Rest In Eternal Paradise James Marshall Hendrix, the greatest to ever put on a guitar strap,he could play with his foot as good as his hands..he had mad soul in his vocals..he was truly one of a kind..One of my all-time favorite songs...it really left an imprint in me when i first heard it at the age of 9,my older brother is a big Hendrix fan..thanx to him I know about all these great musicians
How could anyone dislike this tune man?? Either the one person that disliked this is either dreaming about justin beiber naked or is totally f**ked up and meant to hit the "like" button......
The legendary one with one of his most supremely majestic pieces. I still find it hard to believe that a solo so beautiful as this is able to exist in our realm. Only in the Hendrix universe.
that One note "Waterfall..." runs through my mind eternally. I learned it from a Jimi song book when I was first learning to play guitar -a lefty,,, on the west coast- I sing just that one one note like a cloud [or a blue clown, Mary,.,] traped on an imPassable mountain range.
I IMAGINE however that the west coast Left Hander is a Minow swiming OVER the rapids and over the great divide, when the blues are still green and the snow has yet to fall...! like god has ANNYT to catch the wayWard norm
One of Jimi's best creations. The poetic use of his Waterfall, is absolutly stunning and captive. The lead and backing guitar is so beautifully done, that I often replay it and reach my Zen. The lead really displays a Strat sound to the core. A piece of magic.
My God, what a song & it's 43 years old! Where have artists like Jimi gone? Ole Jimi, like the wind he swept in and was gone so fast. Seriously, how can you not listen to a song like this and not be hypnotized by it. No other artist except maybe Lennon has touched me more than Hendrix. Forget about the drugs anyone from any era can relate to a song like that. Hendrix will never be forgotten.
Thank you Lucia, i have never heard this before, its is lovely. LOve can conquer all and the words are beautifull too. I was a "flower child "and it was a blessing to be at the Isle Of Wight concert. min those days some of us danced and many just sat and listened closely. Sheakespeare said If musicv be the food of love, Jimmmy and William cartainly knew what was going on and im sure hes still with us in his own way.)0( J
What better tune to capture the gentle side of Hendrix-of the Psychedelic 60s, of the zeitgeist and the kids like me, who came of age at 16, while Jimi was still alive? Waterfall, let us all heal our wounds and fears by a waterfall ...listen to Jimi's words say, " so let them laugh at me, long as I have you to see me through". Find a waterfall and day dream beside it ..then think of Jimi and where you were in the summer of 68, 69 and 70. I was in Laguna Beach-Cal, by water trickling down cliffs.
@durgaaa We will never forget the Experience, Noel, Mitch and Jimi. Mitch died in my town just a couple of years ago, in the Benson Hotel, a day before he was to fly home to England. Now all of them have moved on into the realm of Legend.
@durgaaa i envy you the culture of your adolescence. my 80s generation were bombarded with stock, aitken and waterman. the best we had was stone roses, and that was a flash in the pan... later there was britpop, but it was largely contrived and the music was derivative. later still in the late 90s and into the noughties things got worse with britney spears, et al. bill hicks was right to say that the powers that be are promoting mediocrity to deliberately dumb down culture.
@Dahstin Jimmy Hendrix was and always will be the best...great video for sure...I should also mention this is my son's YouTube page and he put DogRaper for pure shock value...thought I would clarify cause you never know these days...just saying lol
