  • Yay for Denmark

  • If this thing had crashed into the bridge.. oh my god!

  • Made in Finland.. the country with the most fucked up language in the world

  • great result of swedish engineering

  • ooh awesome ship, and built in sweden.

  • @Jomb3 Fail. Built in Finland.

  • It was on it's maiden journey to Miami from Turku, Finland. Bought by Royal caribbean.

  • when do it come to storebælt??

  • 2009 had the worlds largest cruise ship and the worlds tallest structure. Wonder what 2010 is going to bring? :-)

  • I don't think this ship has any kind of ice class. While it probably wouldn't sink in such case, I'm quite sure that it would be the ship that "crunches", not the iceberg. Steel is not that strong and even ships with ice class get damaged due to ice conditions every now and then.

  • the was 15 inces between the bridge and the ship!!!

  • Made in Finland, Madeee in Finlaaand.

  • They are using Chutes Not slides that needs les Space and can evacuate more poeple. About 450 persons in 45 minuts.

  • Any ship that sails should have enough lifeboats on each side of the ship for all the crew and passengers. If a ship heels over to one side it is almost impossible to get lifeboats away from the side that is pointing to the sky. So the question is: "Does this ship have enough lifeboats on the port or starboard side to take all the souls on board?"

  • Lifeboats? No. Inflatable life rafts? Yes. Contrary to popular belief shipbuilders can't fool IMO and the classification societies (in this case DNV), especially when it comes to safety.

  • There is a major problem with Life Rafts and that is getting into them. When I worked in the Merchant Navy some 35 years ago we were well aware of the problem and that on a ship that only had 300 souls on board. Is one expected to jump in the sea from that monster or are they sort of raft that you get into and then it is dropped into the sea. The latter procedure is dangerous with people that know what they are doing let alone near 6,000 passangers that do not have a clue.

  • Yeah, getting on the liferafts from the sea can be a challenge, even for the able-bodied. I'll perhaps get a chance to make an excursion to a training facility to try that...

I guess they have those inflatable escape slides at the muster stations, a bit like the ones in airplanes.

I wonder what are the acceptable losses when evacuating a ship of that size, i.e. how long the evacuation is considered successiful...

  • of course not, and that is not nescassary either. The lifeboats can be lovered if the ship lists to on of the sides. You want twice as much lifeboats as needed OMG that would take at least two more decks of window cabins! lool

  • loosing the ship itself would be the absolute worst thing

  • i agree wit u but then i thought

look at the proportion of those life boats with the ship and then compar it to another R.C ship those life boats r HUGE n jus bcuz u cant c more dont mean ther no der...

  • I believe SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) has a lot to do with the design, number and launch capability. I remember seeing a RCCL video on the unique launch system for these new extra large life boats which enables them to be launched at fairly steep angles while the ship is listing.

Typically ships are not designed to have enough life boats on one side to allow for all passengers, however there is a factor for the total number of life boats and inflatables well beyond the total capacity.

  • For the most part, unless my math is wrong.. the way the lifeboats and stuff are set up, 5 people would ultimately be left behind.. but that's assuming that people wouldn't squeeze in or make room for others.

  • Made in Turku, the oldest town in Finland.

  • Would some please explain the following ratio: 6300 passengers/2165 crew/18 lifeboats. 470 people to a lifeboat?

  • The lifeboats, biggest ever, have a capacity of 300-something passengers. There are inflatable rafts as well, so there's no need to fit everyone in the boats.

  • do the math it works fine

  • They had to built telescope chimneys on the boat that costed around 12 million just to get under this bridge. The brigde is the 3rd biggest bridge in the world. But its gonna travel around in caribbean where there arent so many bridges

  • tommosen pikku veneen ne pojat kyhäs...

  • By the way denerm this isn't the biggest ship..... this is the biggest cruise ship... :)

  • Of course "Swreden" has nothing to do with this (:

  • heyy is that blue thing a transformers logo???

  • Rus9. What the hell are you talking about?? He said that this is fake. LOLLED! The ship will have the maximun power up, and lowers the pipes. Then the ship will go "under" the sea and then it goes under the bridge. This ship is the biggest in the world. There is no other. When the bridge is over, they get the pipes up and lowers the speed. That's the technic.

  • nice ,, vr nice !

  • Jesus christ, I really thought it was going to hit the bridge.

  • they clearly don't build bridges for these kinds of ships. either they have to reduce the height of ships or they have to build bridges a lot higher. I guess it's a compromise between how often they have to let through giant ships and how much money to spend on a bridge. thankfully Oasis can sail deeper into the ocean.

  • Denmark-Sweden-Finland-Norwegan. NORDIC POWER.

  • win

  • Thank god they payed for it!

Othewise us Finns would have been forced to buy it. I understand Rccl doesn't quite make ends meet.

  • @joedancer1978 oh shut up party pooper..

we made it happen. thats all that counts..Its there Its done. of course i would want it to sail a bit more.... yes...

maybe the oasis of the seas will change the figures a little bit?

this should show that we can deliver.

  • Made In Finland

  • Very very nice ship but the QM2 is still the most gracious.

  • @CoyJune Shut the fuck up ya poofter

  • Finnish work<3

  • thats insane... imagine if it failed..... i dont even want to....

  • ahaha!,. go girl!

  • It's like a moving city.

  • A gig on this ship ? Let me sign the contract !

  • sk8 planet earth is on that ship!

  • I want to go on this cruise soooo bad!!!

  • why?

  • add and sub plz

  • LOL!!!!! "Citizens of the US are out of money"

    What a dumbass comment.

Fact - If California were to join the European Union; it would be the 2nd largest economy in the E.U. behind Germany. Even in it's current economic state.

  • you fail at economics

  • Uh no, France the UK and Italy are considerably larger in total GDP than California is . As they should be they all have around 60 million inhabitants compared to the 38 million California has. California is closer to Spain in GDP (but quite a bit bigger. Still I'd happily have Cali join the EU even with their debt, lol.

  • France for example had 2.9 trillion GDP in 2008. Cali is about 1.7. So that's a huge difference right there.

  • Made in Finland

  • real close call

  • there was 2 chopper filming it.. but can find the vids

  • Cool video but I think it would be better if they had a camera on the bridge

  • there are videos onboard

  • Holy shit that is one big Decepticon.

  • That thing is almost as big as my yacht

  • you must have a small yacht. My yacht is at least twice as big.

  • FFIIIINNLAAAAND!!

  • The smokestack was build so they could decrease the lenght. When they decresed the smokestack would the ship be able to pass trow with 15 cm left. The captain also incread 15 cm more with going with full speed. So they would 9have 30 cm to pass.

    (Bridge 65 M)

(The boat oasis 72m above water line)

  • Its the Finns who made it. :)

  • Joo tiedän, ehkä Suomessa, but I'm guessing over half of the builders came from Poland or Estonia lol.

  • Its true :)

  • this is real my friend its all over tv and the web

  • goodl camera ftw.

  • It's a Decepticon! Look at the blue glowing emblem! The're headed to Ft.Lauderdale, call the Autobots!

  • the logo does look kind of like the deceptacon logo. lol...

  • i saw the ship a couple of times when they were building and testdriving it. would have liked to see this as well. the captain made quite a job.

  • you're the God? lol xD

  • It's not a waste of money if it produces more money than it cost. And I think there are many people in the US that want to cruise on worlds largest ship.

  • Sorry to tell you this TRUE, but citizens in the US are out of MONEY!!

  • is Bill Gates out of money? Is Oprah?

Sure the Vanderbilts might be but we got more OLD MONEY people here (US) than anywhere in the world....

    :)

  • are you jk we have like the most money inthe world. are economy is down and people are losing jobs but we still have the most money

  • Are you kidding me? It's called CREDIT. I don't count that as money. Plus, the tides are shifting to the East anyway. So don't pound your chest.

  • Fuck you "fakers", it´s real! GOD DAMN IT!

  • Beautiful lady! Hope she would pay a visit to Singapore(Asia) , Thanks.

  • it is not fake....dis is 50% larger then the previous largest and owned by royal carribean...my bro is tryin to get into dat cruise in d food and beverage department...soo itz fake...n stop tellin if u dont have any idea..

  • its not fake !! Read newspapers!!

  • you fucking idiot it was real it was in the news over were in north europe you damn nutjob.!!!

  • what a fake ? wake up and get real. the ship and the video i REAL!! i was there among 2 thousund peopel

  • Can someone tell me what is the point of making these passenger ships this big?

  • It's cheaper to build one big ship than two smaller ones and the overall fuel consumption and other running costs are probably lower as well.

Being "the biggest" also attracts people.

  • Thank you.

  • ITS NOT FUCKING FAKE ITS MADE HER IN MY COUNTRY FINLAND MY DAD WAS ONE OF WORKERS ! please stop saying "fake"

  • Oh, come on. I saw the ship in Turku couple of times. You could clearly see the pixels...

  • city on water

  • real- came within 2 feet of the bridge

  • bet it leaves a few turds in its wake.

  • If I didn't see the bridge, I would of classified that object as a UFO. A big hovering UFO in the sky. LOL I'm sure it's not entirely ludacris to mistake it as a UFO if you saw a clip of this shot from a far and thought the camera was pointed at the sky.

  • I tip my hat to the captain of that vessel, damn fine sailing mate.

  • My misses is going on this ship later this month

  • that...ship...is...freaking....HUGE!!! I can't wait to try it on my honeymoon!

  • There is actually a another video, filmed onboard

it is titled: "Oasis of the Seas Passing under the Oresund bridge"

    Search it!

  • They should just build a ship the size of mount everest.

  • @pahico

No - there is no wide strait left or right to the bridge. I am living only 5 km from the bridge - so thats the only way to get out from Finland to the Carribians.

  • lol, this ship has a City on it.

  • I second jx14aby :)

  • heh, if you didnt know it looked like he was trying to ram the bridge

  • There is a reason for that:

Full speed it runs deeper in a water.

This size of a ship is able to go under that bridge on a low tide and a full speed.

  • ^^ It was reply to "justsopitted"

  • Hehe yup... like i was trying to say if you didnt know better.... ;-)

  • Less than 2 feet to spare and it only cleared, because they got telescopic smoke stacks on that sucker. Pretty neat, eh? They were crusin under that bridge like they wanted to bash through it.

  • World's largest PASSENGER vessel. Not world's largest ship.

  • Go Finland!!!

  • Pricetag 1000000000€!

  • i wonder how much is it to gon on this ship

  • Clearly, more than you can afford.

  • Good thing it wasn't high tide

  • man...less than 2 feet to spare

  • is this ship "oasis of the Seas" was built and ready for the coming of december 21, 2012 "Earth Doomsday?" (-.-)

  • MADE IN FINLAND

  • It is a Finland built ship, bought by a mainly Norwegian owned shipping company, propelled by a Swedish electrical engine, passing under a bridge in Denmark

  • with Icelandic bottled water on board

  • Don't forget that the shipyard is owned by a Korean company, there were quite many Estonian and Russian workers and the engines were (probably) assembled in Italy...

  • But it was made in Finland

  • What a beautiful ship! Hats off to all the ''FINS'' who constructed this masterpiece!

  • thats what they said about the titanic

  • Right, but the Titanic, in reality, was built poorly.

  • I don't know that but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt

  • I think it was in a History Channel documentary. Something about the bolts.. not being done properly.

  • This ship is actually made by the Finnish company Nokia which is mostly known for making robots and baguettes.

  • i heard it barely cleared it and they had to lower the smokestacks

  • Made in Finland <3

  • our north neibours sure know how to build a ship!

  • The company that bought, owns and operates this magnificently huge ship is to a large extent Norwegian, though I don't know who actually owns the company, currently, but my question still remains: Why did they go under the bridge?! There's a perfectly fine 3 km wide strait with no bridging, only slightly left of this similarly magnificent bridge. The quite mad people operating it decided to lower it (somehow?), go at full speed so that it would lower even more, with half a metre left between_O

  • Where, exactly, is that strait? I live in Denmark, and I've crossed all three straits that exist to get to open seas from Finland. Crossed all three of them by bridge, so I would really like to know where you think that is?

  • The oresund strait is between Malmo, sweden and copenhagen, Denmark.

  • the one next to wal-mart... you dont live in Denmark!

  • Sorry people, there have been many videos on this and many of them confuse it for the Øresund Bridge, but I did very much realise that this is indeed not it... But why didn't it go there?!

    static . panoramio . com/photos/original/2423768 . jpg

There, over the tunnel.. Because it wasn't deep enough? Or something?

The Storebælt bridge is very pretty aswell :)

  • I'm guessing the reason is that the free height under the øresund bridge is 57 meters - while the Storebælt bridge has 65 meters... ;-)

  • Yes Øresund is not deep enough above the tunnel.

  • Royal Caribbean is listed as an "American" company and it's headquartered in Miami, Florida USA.

  • Royal Caribbean International was founded in 1968 out of the three: Anders Wilhelmsen & Company, I.M. Skaugen & Company and Gotaas Larsen, all Norwegian shipping companies, it's first ship was called "Song of Norway", all of which are reasons why I said that it was "to a large extent a Norwegian company", for I never denied it being listed American, or it's headquarters to be in Florida, and I very clearly said that I did not know who, and I quote: "actually owns the company, currently".

    :]

  • Oh, and:

It was started by Norwegian companies and Norwegians still have ownership in it. And it is on the Oslo stock echange in Norway.

These are just some more reasons why I said it was "to a large extent a Norwegian company".

  • We are not talking about what USED to be ... we are talking about what IS ... and that would be the fact that Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. is headed by an AMERICAN and the company is HEADQUARTERED in the United States. RCI is Norwegian/American but for all intents and purposes, as of 2009, its an American corporation.

  • OK OK OK OK i never ever said that it wasn't "an American corporation".

    I simply said:

"These are just some reasons why I said it was *to a large extent* a Norwegian company".

Because it was founded in Norway by Norwegians who united three of their Norwegian shipping companies. That is why I said it was "*to a large extent Norwegian*"

AND I MADE A SMILEY ON MY LAST COMMENT!

But that has really nothing to do with.. anything.

    Here's anotherone! :D

    :] <--

It's identical to the other one.

  • This I said in a comment: "all of which are reasons why I said that it was to a large extent a Norwegian company, for I never denied it being American"

But yet you say-: "We are not talking about what USED to be.. we are talking about what IS.. and that would be the fact that Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. is headed by an AMERICAN"

-as *if* I disagreed with you about it being American ..... The why so uppity?!

  • Because the water isn't deep enough?

  • made in finland<3

  • ships that awesome should have a rocket pack to clear the bridge. just press the red button and FWOOOSH. no problem, except a few hot tubs might empty.

  • that ship is like 5 times bigger than Titanic. man what a tradgedy it would have been if it didn't make it.

  • Mycket dra.. MICAHAEL WINCENTZ.. Detta video är som en länk på många tidingar.. i alla fall finska tidingar.. Unik i sitt slag.. både video och båten. Made in Finland.. Made in Norden,, Made in Europa.

  • We went under this bridge in June of this year on the Jewel of the Seas. We only had several feet clearance ourselves !! Great video ! Kathy in Los Angeles

  • Made in Finland.. ;)

  • ohh stod ved siden af ham der optog :P det var koldt og det skulle haver været der 4 timer tidligere... men det kom!!

  • Neej... Glemte at komme ud og se det... Godt et kamera er opfundet ;-)

  • Not small =)

  • Oh! And i will add to that comment that.... i really am jealous and envious about this cruise ship... all those people are so lucky... i can't myself go on a cruise like this now but someday i will.... GOD! That ship is so fucking big!!! I wanna go to an cruise with it dammit!!!!! ;(

  • its the bigest in the world.. we were so lucky in little denmark that is passed us :D

  • Made in Finland. :)

  • I seen that ship yesterday

  • If we lose a contract in Finland just because of that bridge I hope we ask our friend Putin to shoot it down for us

  • Finland got 90 million DKK in compensation fromDenmark when the bridge was built, becaue there's not room enough for big offshore oil platforms built in inland t go under the bridge.

Finlinad sued Demark in 1991 at the International Court of Justice. But ehy made the 90 million DKK settlement outside court in 1992.

  • worlds largest PASSENGER ship, important distinction
