  • I love her Countess, she is perfect for that role :) and I love also her interpretation of this aria but I've never seen her doing the role...

  • Hot damn!

  • how does she have the sexiness of Blanche, yet the wardrobe of Dorothy? get it together, girl!

  • Certified well-endowed!

  • brava!

  • Carol Vaness is a magnificent Mozart singer. The spin in her tone makes her voice both dark and thrilling. I admire her greatly for this! Awesome artist for the ages.

  • I love Carol Vaness singing Mozart heroines. In the 1980's, she was the number one Mozart soprano. Gundula Janowitz and Lucia Popp were still singing but they had nothing on Vaness - a big, dark, regial voice that reminds me a little of Leontyne Price. Her Mozart was exquisite especially her Countess, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi and Elvira. What a brilliant Come Scoglio she sings here

  • She was a good comic singer too. I was just thinking of her in Idomeneo as a spoiled brat princess. So she played a tragic girl in the comedies, and a comic girl in an opera seria. ;)

  • jesus what century was this recorded in

  • The 20th century. Do you remember that century or were you born after 2000 ? LOL There was a time when years had a 19 in front of them. 1977, 1985, 1996...etc...My guess this is an 80's performance since Vaness was a singer who sang mainly in the 80's

  • brava carol,

one of the best interpretations i´ve ever heard

  • The contest for me would be between vanessa and Joanna borowska, for this aria. Both are good Mozrtian singers

  • Wow, the best performance of this aria I've heard in years. I prefere it than L. Price's even, and this is very very much to say... Better than Röschmann too. She is for me the best Mozart lyric soprano with Janowitz and Te Kanawa. Her Elvira is really moving.

  • She makes this aria look so easy.

    It isn't! Lol.

  • excellent. She is a superb Mozartean singer.

  • a GREAT Mozart singer...and she gave Kathy Battle her comeuppance! Two reasons to love this very special lady.

  • Mozart has to be sung effortless ....this is the thrill behind this dramatic Mozartsopranoroles.... Not easy to bring in a position of voicebeauty expressivity and ease of tone...BRAAAAAAAAVA! not like this chickens around on the videos today... Boesinger is very good (she is the only...)

  • It's incredible that she makes this seem so effortless. She is one of the most beautiful human beings I know.

  • Supah-Dupah!

  • I can't believe no one has commented on this... Then again, this is my first seeing it and you posted this a month ago. I've obviously missed a lot of your video adds!

Vaness is ideally suited to this role. What year is this? I'm assuming mid-to-late-80's?

  • I don't have a date for this concert. It really is a lovely evening for Vaness (who was btw, my first Tosca). I think this is from the mid 80's.

  • I believe 1986, but I'll have to check......

  • @coloraturafan The date given at the end of the concert video is August 1990, from Stockholm's Royal Palace. Thank you for your wonderful videos - a treasure trove of great, great singing. This must truly be a labor of love for you and a magnificent gift to all of your followers. Thank you is inadequate, but I'll repeat it. THANK YOU!
