  • It's Tiger,Crane,Mantis,Snake,Monkey

  • @Nikolas100o10oao Thank you for your comment! The animals represented in Hung Gar Kuen's Five Animal set are Dragon, Tiger, Crane, Panther, and Snake.

  • wing lam is a great man..i am sorry if i offend anyone with my point of view

  • Let's not mock the UFC fighters please. They are martial artists the same as us and they have proven to be strong. Maybe not efficient because they are entertainers, but strong nonetheless. Like I said before we are all martial artists and in that sense all family.

  • So true UFC doesn't have anything on REAL martial art...that's all BULLSHIT a real fighter will fight standing up..not on the FUKIN floor..

  • All the haters just watch too much UFC. Animal forms are very effective and each has their situational uses in combat. Judging a style from watching a kata is just ignorant. I also hate when people say "Karate is bogus" or "Kung Fu only works in movies" Karate and Kung Fu are just broad terms for Japanese and Chinese martial arts. There are hundreds of styles of Karate and Kung Fu and each of them is unique and has its applications.

  • muy bueno fuerte forma concentracion saludo masters mos ki venezuela

  • theres a guy in my judo/ jiu jitsu class who says he trained in this. I sparred with him and his stand up was awful. I was punching him silly.

  • @greenbay357 A friend of a friend said that he could make really good tacos. I like Mexican food, so when were all hanging out and he said he was going to make tacos, I was pretty excited. After he made the tacos and I tried one, I found it wasn't very good and was a bit disappointed.

Clearly, the problem lies in Mexican food, not the cook. Right?

  • 1:36 I think he just farted

  • i was over at Wikipedia looking at the five animal style information and came across this at the beginning of the article "五形 " Does that symbol translate to five animal form? If so how can i get a better version of it ,because i want to draw it on something. thanks

  • @home5476 Those characters translate as "wu xing" in pinyin, and yes, in that context they would be used to mean "five animals", though that's not a literal translation ("wu" is five and "xing" is something like form or shape). That's according to my admittedly limited understanding of Mandarin.

  • This is Tid Sin not Ng Ying

  • @MattHungGa The Dragon section of Five Animals is very similar to the Iron Wire set.

  • @winglamkungfu You are correct I did not see after the dragon section.

  • A man attacks him. The master say: "Wait! First, I must generate my Chi" :-)

  • @MegaSmud A master of what the martial arts truely embodies says nothing, they wouldn't be in the position to have to say anything. A man attacks him and the first thing out of their mouth would likely by a smile, a chance to teach a man the power of compassion is more valued to the true martial artist than a chance to prove strength.

  • @chaoimon i like what you have said .Now the question is what makes someone a martial artist? Does holding the title of a martial artist mean you have to be enrolled in a martial arts school ? Fortunate is the one who can reply with a smile instead of a fist during an attack, that's not always the case but not at all unreasonable .Sometimes martial artist, title or not, the wars started against man must be seen through .other wise become a victim or crawl into a fetal position.

  • is chaolin and hug gar kung fu the same?

  • @123kawaiigirl123 Yes, basically. Hung Gar is considered a branch of Southern Shaolin gong fu. Shaolin is sort of an umbrella term, and most people who say just say "Shaolin" are referring to Northern Shaolin styles. But yes, Hung Gar is Shaolin gong fu.

  • @123kawaiigirl123 Actually "Shaio Lin" translate to Small Forest and Hung Ga or also said as Hung Gar means Hung(which is a family surname) and Ga or Gar is style/system . But Hung style is knwn for strong deep stances and very strong fast hand work. Hung Ga also uses mostly daily tools as weapons.

Northern kung fu is alot of high kicks, and military weapon work.

  • That's just a Bruce Lee quote. And when Bruce Lee said it he was paraphrasing an old Chinese proverb, "Before I knew, a tree was just a tree..." Is how the original starts. Bruce wasn't saying all martial arts are the same, because they aren't. Muay Thai has the most powerful roundhouse kick, but some other arts have a faster one.

Bruce was talking about the philosophy. The mental state of being. Internalizing the movements so that they are automatic.

  • woweee hear hear Renegade!

  • Agreed kung fu exercises are meant for self defence and improve health, blood circulation etc.

  • Agreed kung fu exercises are meant for self defence and improve health, blood ciculation etc.

  • Ground fighting is OK if you only fight ONE person. While you have ONE guy on the ground the other will PUNT KICK YOUR FACE. Not saying ground fighting is not a great skill but it is not the end all of fighting arts.

  • This is very powerful qi gong, thank you for the post.....most interesting how he creates his 'Chi'!!

  • "a punch is a punch a kick is a kick" ? UUUMmmm ya NO I can tell that you just like to look at videos but never have trained any style. Second, some people long long ago needed to learn martial arts like kung fu and other styles to protect their temples homes and themselves from being burned down. So I would say its more than "self improvement" These arts are being turned into jokes like Tae Bo and Yoga.

Do respect all artists, it does take a lot of hard work and discipline.

    Thanks.

  • Personally I'm more for the eight drunken immortals, but also fall back on PaGua Quan for stretching, stability, and flexibility. I've also found it is better learn them and then think of you own way to utilize them all. Be like water ever flowing and unstoppable, soft yet strong able to break down any mountain.

  • @Itmac666 You'd see him doing something stupid to every to weak spot on your body before you could even leave a mark, let alone push him back. All that 'stupidity' makes capable of feeling no pain whatsoever, look up 'Iron crotch Gung fu' if you don't believe me. It's exactly how it sounds, and they don't flinch at all.

  • There is Gung Fu it's just that most like to use muay thai, which is good and all but used more more than any other style. And I would like really to see Shamrock or Fisher try to break an iron bar over their foreheads. That's what most people don't understand about Martial Arts is that they're mixed anyway. Hung Gar is one the best examples of that. Does the name Lei Wulong ring any bells? The master is within one's self, preserve life and prevent harm as much as possible.

  • I think that if they did kung fu UFC people would make a lot of money, what do you think lol

  • AWESOME!

  • i got a mean walrus style technique

  • I highly agree with Mag101 of course you cans tart your training when ever i know people who started in their 20s and have shown out people who have been doing since they were little. it all depends on your dedications and zeal to learn more.

The word master does not really mean they learned all they can because they learn even more when they have students the title master tell that they have enough knowledge to have a students. not meaning they cant not learn anymore

  • Have anyone seen this man before? He's only 5' 5. But powerful !!!! Watch his work out in the forms.

  • 0:15-0:16 seems like a boob lift :P

  • awesome ,thats a lot of formwork to learn

  • You have no idea how much of an ignorant fool you just made yourself out to be. Good luck in your training.

  • @theMAG101

    Humble much?

  • cup......

  • Of course, you just need to practice and be dedicated

  • serious question: can i still get a master beginnin kung fu with 17? or is it already to late?

  • It doesn't matter when you start, you will always have more to study, learn, and practice...even if you stay with the same style your entire life. People tend to use the word "master" as meaning someone who has gone as far as possible and is finished. It doesn't work like that.

Serious answer: No, it's definitely not too late to start at 17, and you can reach a high level with dedication and consistent practice. If you worry about being a "master", you'll just stunt your own growth.

  • yes you can start whenever.

  • @jorumpl It's not a question, it's a decision. Ponder that, and you will have your answer.

  • is this hung gar

  • Yeah

  • I loled at 2:56-2:58

  • me gustó mucho. me parece educativo

  • how does 'dragon' come under the list of wild animals?!!

  • couse in dragon you wildly bitch slap your enemies to death

  • because "dragon" embodies the internal, soft aspect of the system, the spiritual side, what better animal than a spiritual animal to represent it?

  • fe tung hao!

  • maybe you see one animal cause you suck. watch the damn video and you will see all five. why are all you kung fu guys always talking shit on each other.

  • Sifu wing lam is awesome!

    -manhtong

  • i'd probably retract that statement , this is wing lam a leader of the hung gar system, this is the iron wire set, not five animals.

  • I was wondering what was up! So this is the iron tread?

  • As far as i can asertain, yes. the start of it for sure, i haven't learnt the form myself yet but i can compare it to some of my family's work and it seems the same

  • This form is the five animals, not the iron wire set. The first of the five animals, dragon, is like a mini iron wire. The narration is definitely off...

  • I stand corrected, man i watched it side by side an iron wire set and it was exact, i didn't watch it all through though, just the start, in my lineage we play the dragon external not internal

  • this isn't five animals something is wrong with the video editing, this is iron wire an advanced internal set.

  • these look just like exersizes for the forms not them in action. am i right if so you may want to put that in the description.

  • dude, fix your naration it said snake and the guy was opening and closing his fist? wtf

  • This would be good if the narration actually was coordinated with the video. All I see is a guy standing there clenching his fists.

  • nice hung ga, thanks for posting.

  • very different looks very old school

  • hey.. what about Monkey and Mantis Style ?.. :S

  • .... Both are seperate styles, not included in the hung gar system.

  • shaolin kung fu's origins are actually frm the indian martial called kalaripayattu.

boddhidharma went to china frm kanchipuram(india) and taught the buddhistmonks how to defend themselves from pirates.

got this info frm nat geo and the history channel and some books.

  • History is very spotty here and you can not be certain of any direct lineage. In general this is true but the practice of forms and making the Art systematic can be credited to chinese practice. Check out Lion's Roar for Tibetan Martial Arts with a bridge from India to China.

  • Bhodidharma's system was probably a calisthenic workout, rather than a comprehensive fighting discipline. The Shaolin monks had the opportunity to refine and expand it over the centuries to make it do as they wished.

  • bhoddidharma was a master of the martial art kalari! The oldest martial art in the world, over 2000 years old and the first art to use forms or katas!

  • There's no proof of that - there's evidence that early martial arts were practiced in Heinan province before the monastery was even founded. Bhoddidharma was said to have taught the monks at Shaolin Asanas to add to their meditative practice due to their poor physical condition. Shaolin tradition state Bhoddidharma developed the core of their martial skills after a bandit attack, over the course of decades. If he was already a Kalari guru, there would be no need for this development period.

  • Bodhidharma didnt not teach the shaolin monks how to defend themselves from pirates....shaolin is located inland on a mountian LOL I doubt theres "pirates" on ships dockin on a mountian hahaha I think the word your seaching for is "Bandits" and not pirates lol

  • first of all buddhism itself came from india.

and btw they admit it themsleves about bodhidharma so its proven.

anyway it was they who said pirates.

so i'm just passin whatever the monks said themesleves.

and i'm not interested in an argument.

  • Comment removed

  • I know buddhism came from india, why bring that up if I never even metioned it?? 500ad bohidharma came to china n taught zen n self defense for the monks agianst bandits, kuz they lived in a mt, far away from help. The thing about the pirates happned in 1500 when the japanese raided china n the monks fought.. a good thousand years after bohidharma came. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. dont post if ur gona mixed up facts n different account LMAO

  • atleast u admit that bodhidharma taught them martial arts.

dude i watched in discovery chanel and fer some reason they used the word "pirate" maybe their wrong or maybe their really bad at english but it ain't my fault.

all what i want to say is that shaolin kungfu came frm india.

  • "atleast u admit that bodhidharma taught them martial arts." when did I ever say he didnt??? lol

Yes they did use the word pirate but that was a few hunded years after bodhidharma died and not when he was alive. Mt. = no water = no pirates. you probably just remembered the events in the show in the wrong order =]

  • clearly you are looking for an arguement, proving you are right heheheh

  • Both you guys are fools for believing Bodidharma taught martial arts, the first reference to this was in a piece of 17th century FICTION. The Chinese Government jumped on this and plugged it to help numb masters hearts and promote a non-aggressive kung fu, to prevent a future boxer rebellion.

Just look at the weapons used in kung fu, they are clearly military, shaolin kung fu comes from ex- military retiring to the monastery.

  • Pirates aren't only men from ships. Pirates can also be known as any plunderer, predator, raider etc. "Pirated Movies" are not movies illegally taken from people on a boat.

  • pirated and pirate both come from the same souce word but mean different things in english wise guy.

    1. pirate means. One who robs at sea or plunders the land from the sea

2.pirated means. To make use of or reproduce (another's work) without authorization. =P

  • is anyone legit out there bad history no documentation and no refrences given will the real kung fu please come out

  • opium before shooting..

  • its not five animals its taming the tiger

  • No, it is definitely Five Animals - its just that the first section looks a bit like the start of Taming the Tiger.

Thanks for the video, a great display of this form.

  • i sed no1 can tame a TIGER u prick

  • wtf noob no1 can tame a TIGER fool

  • ...hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Awesome. I like 5 animal Style.

  • Everybody needs to realize that all martial arts are the same. Punch is a punch, kick is a kick. Respect all fighters, because martial arts is for self improvement... not competition. If you compete... good for you. But have respect for all of the arts, and put away this childish bickering.

  • @RenegadeRows You're right. A punch is a punch and a kick is a kick, and in that regard, all kicking and punching focussed martial arts are the same (which is just about every martial art out there)...that's why I do GRACIE JIU JITSU!!...'tis a different world on the ground, my friend.

  • @LidarDan15 lol

  • @LidarDan15 just shut up and go train. martial arts have been around for thousands of years, and contrary to the gracie folks clever marketing, ground fighting is nothing new. in my system we have ground training, but we also understand, for self defense against more than one person (which is typical) u cant spend half the fight rolling around, hugging and kissing your attacker and his homies on the floor, you'll be killed. btw, gracie jj is fun.

  • @LidarDan15

Teachers of "Special Education' understand "Ground fighting" and realize why so many train in it. If you ain't got the mind or skills for preventing a take down, stay flat on your back and pray. Girls like the Gracies found their match when they met REAL grapplers like Sak, Matt Hughes, Sap, The Russian Bear and that's why NO MORE FAKE Gracies and Bullshit Bullshido. They are thru. The end.

  • @RenegadeRows damn you are so fucking right!! I'd like all the oter peolpe to understand this!!

  • @RenegadeRows very well put mate. seriously.

  • @RenegadeRows A punch in boxing is totally different than a punch in karate. Hung Gar is totally diferent from judo. Martial Arts are not the same.

  • Thanks Master is a good video

  • i think the anyone who doesnt know about martial arts cant said shit!!! martial arts is for self diciplint not for fighting of course the monks practices this ART for years. i do martial arts myself and i can see how is it.i like MMA,but some people are to stupid to understand they think that is all about bit each other to death martial arts are created to better your self and figthings is the last think to do.learn people!!

  • in a real fight it really last seconds than your opponent is dead. mma ufc ki whatever it is, its not real fighting. anyways coming soon to you tube is a new fighting art discovered from the hmong people its incredible.

  • the jackasses who say this wont hold up in a street fight. the whole 5 animals is a dance or meditation form, do it once a day. just try it, your body will unconciously use it in self defence. Hung gar is insane, its natures defence. my friend who is 28, is a missionary from a shaolin temple and some thugs tried to mug him, I didn't even see his hands move... holy shit.

  • u have a guy trying to jack u. knowing just alittle bit of self defense staying calm u just hit the jacker in the neck real quick there out. it doesnt take a genius. the key is to stay calm.

  • The fact that dragons existed in mythologies around the world in medieval times when all those countries had never met each other before is proof enough that dragons existed at a certain time. Firebreathing while highly unlikely, is possible with the combination of different chemicals, combined with friction. With enough friction, your fart could be lit. And they didn't copy moves, but adapted styles based on what they see. If you say copy, then everything man made was copied off something.

  • Except that people just found dinosaur bones and guessed about their origins.

  • To be more accurate, the production of hydrocarbon gas via the lung, it is not impossible, thought highly improbable.

And the igniting by platinum filings!

  • dragon = unseen energy, unseen force. doesn't matter if it was mythical, people still had perceived notions of the dragon's movements. That, plus dragon is a lot of internal work too.

  • MMA has nothing to do with a way of life .. it is based on training the body and to withstand pain .. but has nothing to do with personal; development , like for instance Hung Gar , Kyokushin kai karate, Tai Chi Chuan or any of the traditional martial arts ..

MMA is good for the streets or the ring ...

other than that ... for seeking development and peace of mind and long life ...

    sorry ...

doesnt take away my respects for mma , just different game .. .

    Gassho ,

    Richard

  • @QuanYin71 This "way of life" thing is just an illusion created by old masters to sell their martial arts which were dying.

  • Ok, seriously everytime I look at a martial arts video there is always some jackass who always says something like "this would never hold up in UFC/BJJ" Ya know what, I clicked on this video because I wanted to see THIS martial art, not hear about how the Gracies could snap the guy in two or how an MMA fighter would kick his ass... Seriously people it's a martial art... ART, it is more for physical and spiritual purposes than combative ones... let it go and get a life, sorry.

  • well, the term "MARTIAL" does mean military. But, I agree with you because Kung Fu itself means (sort of)"referring to one's expertise in any skill" so yes, it's a skill. If you look at some stances in Kung Fu, OUCH!! These people hold them for hours on end and develop bodies of steel! It's one thing that takes lots of practice, and through determination and lots of painful training they eventually execute "Beautiful" Kung Fu Forms. They can take pain and make Works of art, over and over again.

  • nice ahh!!!

  • I feel like i'm watching Richard Simmons...

  • You can't really compare the UFC to any shaolin monk. A shaolin monk would be disqualified from the UFC because of the rules and guidelines. I'm not saying that UFC fighters aren't good, but monks train to disable someone's body within a matter of seconds. Any UFC guy wouldn't know what to do with a real shaolin monk because they would just go for the vital areas in the body. Not to mention they train their bodies to take the most brutal beating someone can give.

  • That's right. Toshitsugu Takamatsu travelled all throughout China, and took part in my fights to the death. He said that a shaolin fighter was one of the most dangerous fighters he had ever met. When you have someone who has inherited hundreds of years of the most serious martial arts tradition saying that someone is a dangerous fighter... you better listen. UFC is good, and expands on the ability of fighters to show their skill, but it is nowhere close to a fight to the death.

  • sorry

  • AGREED! People don't understand that a well-trained Shaolin can allow him/herself into a state of mind where there is no pain at all. Shaolin train to mold mind, body, spirit, and to defend themselves, as well as learning in medicines, accupuncture, etc etc etc. The stars we "idolize" on the cinema screen are only a sample to what these guys can really do.

  • wow that dragon set was over five minutes long!!!!

  • tis is iron wire, not five animal ^^

  • It is five animals, the beginning is similar to iron wire, but it is the dragon part

  • ic,ic^^

  • Right!

    And he's great!

  • I have this it's excellent

  • That was an excellent demo and narative. Thank you for the upload.

  • Perfect movements!

  • this form is serious, i saw wing lam doing it. very good for the health. for the fighting question.. well the form did aloud me to receve more hit, because your organes are more trainned to the pression... thats it. i am not a master

  • I love the aesthetics and beaty of Shaolin kung fu. Thanks for the upload.

  • Awesome, awesome video! Informative as well.

  • If you don't have Anything interesting to comment dont do so you only show your ignorance and arrogance you selfish pieces of shit.

  • the only interesting thing here are you and your pathetic brain wash.you should visit a doctor..seriusly

  • His ex wife outed him a few years back and said he taught him some stuff, sorry to see how he lied about it or his crony students ignore/hide the fact after the fact.

  • I'm going to be adding this form into my system. Know any dvd's Instructional that are good or any books. Yes I know you can't learn from a book, but hell I'm going to try.

  • Why? whats wrong with the system you have already?

  • Tienen una fantasia en la cabeza..

you guys have a fantasy in your heads...

  • Shut the fuck up, you´re an ass. Go and insert your head inside a goat´s rearend.

Sifu Lam is a great man.

  • rolf, you dont get it rigth?you dont understood nothing then

  • I understand that you´re a retard.

  • in can beat you with my uberultrasuperchotazo, then you will sound like x-wing lan in this video.

  • You could defeat no one with such a pathetic technique. Give me your adress, i´ll get there in a sec and go medieval on your ass. B1tch.

  • yeah, sure. You don't got any clue about this set. Hung Gar's five animal form uses a lot os inner work, and the technics are really effective...

  • I was talking to that retard "metegol2006", who is disrespecting the maker of the video, a true master, methinks.

  • indeed is realy efective,it make laugh my inner guts

  • You really think you can beat someone who train in a form which is used for killing? I have done 10 years boxing experiance and I'm a previous Golden Gloves champion, and I know if I got to close to someone who is trained in the 5 Animal Forms that they can shut down my body in a few strikes. You have been watching too much Dragon Ball Z or you are just some nerdy kid covered in pimples who thinks his tough because he hides behind a computer screen.

  • Hahaa!!! you are so right mate, you just owned that guy below, anyway I do those forms and they are hard but are used for killing so metegol2006, I'de luv to meet you and see how you fight because your obviously much better than me and CHADTHEWORMKING. =]

  • Lmfao! Haha!!

  • a really professional kung fu master can own any guy with a gun with his bare hands. one movement and the gun is flying out of the dudes hands

  • guns are dishonorable. if u think honor is nothing, wait till u see guys who served in Nam, WWI and WWII regretting ever killing a person.

  • Yeah. My Sigung tells us about his times in the wars and how he has nightmares about when he had to slaughter hundreds of innocent children and that he sometimes feels like killing himself for his wrongdoings.

  • that has to be one of the most idiotic things i've ever read.

yes if you can get within hand distance maybe you'll get the gun out of the guys hand. but anyone even passably decent with a gun (like anything else, markmenship and gun skills TAKES TRAINING AND PRACTICE) can shoot you from feet or yards away, long before you can get near enough to disarm him.

  • I dont see why you would be so scared of someone with a gun at very close range, but the martial artists who think they will just run up and kill the gunman are ridiculous lol this aint the Matrix son.

  • I dont think you understand the power behind Shaolin forms. All 5 used together, you would probaly be dead before you could say ok.

  • OK...

oh,im still alive,i guess it may fail.

the 5 used together?dude, this old man barely can do this shit in the air,i cant see how can he do it with a real opponet.

  • he's doing it in dynamic tension. it's meant to be slow.

  • Ha i like to see you take him on . hell i am a black belt in Shotokan Karate and i wouldt take him on.

  • why did you favorite this video then

  • cose everytime i see it i remember everything...

  • Wing Lam is impressive ...

  • no,it's 1DRAGON, 2SNAKE, 3TIGER, 4CRANE, 5LEOPARD.

    1. is agile,it's in the mind. 2 is mysterious,it's in the heart. 3 is vicious, with strength 4 is direct with

purpose. 5 is fierce with power.that is 5 style fist!

  • theres different versions,....like every temple has a different version, lama temples have one north and south and 2 different ones, ect.ect.ect

  • OK thanks for that info dude.Tho I've never heard of different versions of the 5 style fist.

  • very shi*... _|_

  • your gay wing lam is very good

  • This is a great man.
