I use to work for Jost International about 12 years ago making landing gear for semi trailers. I know that they were a German company and wonder if they were the one who made this back in the day? Interesting!!
Matt, great video. I have found 2 Jost fans for sale while visiting antique stores in India. One of them is almost entirely original, except for the cage. the second, has the cage, blade and guard not being original. They are selling for USD 3000 and USD 2200 respectively. This seems expensive but I was wondering what you thought about the market price of these. thanks
Maybe next week. The guy told me he has many of them :-O I'm just not sure if they are really antique. They are from India and who knows if they are still manufactured for $1.75...?
Hey, it needs a new bush made for the power piston that connects to the flywheel. This engine is 100% origional and we havent done anything to it. These dont come up very often so id say yeah it is expensive but it would be worth it if you could afford it.
it does blow cooler air, when the burner is turned right down you dont notice the heat and the heat is so mild you can pick the fan up while the burner is running.

This seems a silly price...they are still quite common in Burmese antique shops and sell there for a (tongue in cheek) price of about $200 - $300.

Here: collectibles,about, com*od*miscellany*ig*Jost-Electric-Fan
(replace the * with / and the , with .)
And don't be confused by the "electric", it is a sterling engine like yours.

The noises it makes... do the bearings need some attention?
I saw a similar one on a local flea market today for $650 is that too expensive?
