Why does everyone say about the f@cking render time? WTF? Those who ask that, simply don't have a clue about 3D!! This is a very simple shatter effect. I own a laptop and I tested, it took me 30 mins to render in HD res with best AA options...What else can i say?
@iHasModsHD No, the model itself is not complex. it's just an extrude nub, not high poly. This is just the shatter effect on a low poly model with basic light and texture, so it was a real fast render.
@dravacado if you don't believe that a computer can be built well, I guess I can pass on arguing with you. I like the Alienware, and I feel like I got what I paid for. It's true with anything, things are only worth what people will pay, if I paid it, I feel it's worth it to me.
@SilentEliminator I know you can buy parts and build shit yourself, that's actually true with anything. I don't mind paying extra for a superior machine. You will pay less and have to go through all the trouble of building a pc, I will pay more and have a kick ass machine built by a professional with all the best components. It is what it is. Don't gripe about what someone else pays for something, just do your own thing man.
@wetpixels not arguing just saying maybe some people like me enjoy building their machines and I no for a fact that you can build a better one that's cheaper then what you would pay for a pre built one but like you said its all about what you as an individual likes and what ever pleases your needs :)
@wetpixels It's not the fact that it's a pain to build. It's about having the knowledge of doing so. Not everyone can build a machine. You can build a computer in less than a day and wait 2 - 3 days for parts. Spend 1500 and have a computer that would cost 3000 + from alien ware.
@mathyson yea, I've heard that before. I can't build computers, and even if u could, I couldn't build one as well as an Alienware Technician. Furthermore, i'd be hard pressed to find a case as nice an Alienware. It's not cheap, but you get what you're paying for.
@wetpixels There is no building computers "well" the hardware plugs into other hardware, unless you plug it halfway in I don't get how you can build a computer badly, he's right, it's overpriced, you pay for the logo, and if you really want I think they sell cases (which are also overpriced). You could buy the hardware that comes with in an alienware for around half of the price of the alienware.
Not really... Except for the case ( or even with a cool transparent with LED case), I can easily get the same computerhalf the price, but not assembled, and without the alienware sign. You really pay about 1000 for the company and the case, which it is not worth at all
@wetpixels You actually bought an AlienWare computer? Haha, you should build your own computer instead of buying AlienWare. AlienWare is very overpriced.
@o0oK1LLERo0o tell the shatter effect to be 0% as long in the timeline as you like, then increase the amount of the shatter effect along your timeline to your liking.
This is sord of noobish, but how did you preview/record the animation? I have something like this done but when I preview it never works :( it just stays at one frame and if i click "play" In the frames section it exits out of preview. and I don't know how to save as an actual video i can watch. Please help, thanks!
Not necessarily, though countless youtube video tutorials dont really help, these are useless for beginners because they teach you with their settings. Best off buying a book from Autodesk on the subject you are after. But start with Founation Maya book, and try and find someone to teach you in person. Helps a great deal.
ameba2k, thank you for having such a good vibe, I am learning After Effects now, but I want to learn Blender, Maya too so I need help a lot. An After Effects book will help too, ha? I will keep in touch w you.
It's pretty basic. You choose the shatter effect from the effects menu, add it as a child to the object you want to shatter. You then want to move the effect to where it's level with ground (unless you want your object to shatter only to a certain point)
Then animate it turning on automatic keyframing, move the timeline to the point in time you want the effect to end, change the shatter amount value to 100%, and hit the auto keyframing button again.
Why does everyone say about the f@cking render time? WTF? Those who ask that, simply don't have a clue about 3D!! This is a very simple shatter effect. I own a laptop and I tested, it took me 30 mins to render in HD res with best AA options...What else can i say?

@CsLittleHelper Not as long as you would think. I don't remember exactly, but I do remember being surprised at how fast, not slow it was to render.

How do you make it stop on the ground? :P
SirkelDesign 11 months ago
@SirkelDesign the shatter effect can be adjusted to any height. just position it on the ground plane.

@SirkelDesign add a plane then make it a collider in the simulation drop down menu

Hi WET, with sony vegas or after effects can I create 3d effects like this, please?
asderso 3 years ago
neither, its done on Cinema 4D, a 3D package usually saved for motion graphics or multimedia design work.
For more effects driven work, try 3D Studio Max, and for more animation work, try Maya.
:)

3D Max is famous for its modeling tools
Zbrush for its sculpting
Maya for its animation
Realflow for its animation
All of these programs include every single one of those functions (real flow doesnt support sculpting and only limited modeling tools)
