  • This band u could tell here were in for a long duration of music and success....

  • ive creamed my trousers several times watching this!rarer than rocking horse shit.cheers for posting

  • The wonders of the net. Fantastic footage.

  • Where is this footage from? I see they are playing at Hurrah's in NYC. But where is the footage from? A movie? A documentary? What?

  • Love their early stuff. Why did they feel the need to copy and compete with U2? They were brilliant enough to find their own way!

  • Fantastic live!!!!!!

  • Such a shame they released "Dont you" and became Rich , how many other gems might they have made without massive tours , TV advertising and film soundtracks.

  • @dons4europe The answer to your question "not much" or "plenty" depending on your tastes. The band 9to(to this day) never broke up for any long period of time. If you knew anything about the band's gradual evolution (ie: commercialization to many) you would know that "Don't You forget.." was not a radical departure from the band's sound. It would fit in with the band's critically acclaimed 1984 "Sparkle in The Rain" LP (their 7th LP!) perfectly but it get's more heat because it was a huge hit.

  • It was all so mo-dern!

I agree with most on hear; this was when Simple Minds were still trying to push boundaries a bit.

Those first three albums Life In A Day, Reel To Real Cacophony and Empires & Dance, definitely had something about them, but all were completely different to each other.

Sons & Fascination/Sister Feelings Call also had a few great tunes, too.

Ha, just spotted that I commented on this song six months earlier...

  • I wish to f*ck that the rest of them wouldn't make such a racket so I could hear Derek Forbes properly !

  • Couldn't have put it better myself . Acutally they did a few more good albums but this was cutting edge. Saw them on this tour, and presume vid is from Old Grey Whistle Test - which club though?

  • So much better than that 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' nonsense

(how often do i forget that song when i listen to this? ^_^ )

  • @shinysynthcity How is DYFAM "nonsense"?

It's actually a very good piece of work.

  • Often wonder what Minds could have become had they ignored 'stadium rock'

  • @bassatnight Poor?

  • Way ahead of it's time, they should get loads more credit for their early stuff than they do. Derek Forbes' bass riff is a killer.

  • One of my favourite early Minds songs

  • jim's eyes make him look a tad out of it...

  • John Peel liked this song

  • top quality

  • Such a massively underrated band (pre posturing pomp that is...)

  • Ah yes, Simple Minds before they caught U2 fever and got boring.

Real to Real Cacophony is definitely a fave.

  • @bfall66

I find empires and dance sons and fascination and new gold dream all good after that they got a bit boring

  • Awesome! Greatest keyboard riff ever!

  • @TheMagmagoblin ummmm, no
