what? really? that's not a vintage effect. all you did was exclude blue and yellow. there's a bit more to it than that, like reducing saturation, adding noise, gaussian blur etc. etc. etc.

When you're done with her instructions, go to Levels, select Blue, and move the white arrow down a bit, and the grey arrow up a bit. It makes the 'real' vintage effect that you are looking for.
this is great! i found the picture turned out a bit too blue but i realised i was using the wrong shade. but i found it was still too blue so i just changed the opacity on the layers that i filled and it looked better :) im guessing it is different for all photos
There are several ways you could do it. This is the very most basic way of doing it--great for beginners, but it doesn't leave you a lot of room for creative control,while using Curves would help a lot with that.

on your side bar there should be a tool called "gradient" or something and then you just right click it and select bucketfill tool.:]

If it's too blue, just change the layer opacity. This effect will look different for different photos?
