This was the first Popeye cartoon I ever saw when I was really little. After I saw it for years I kept calling Wimpy Hamburger,and whenever anyone tried to tell me his real name I'd be like, "You're lying. Why would you lie?" Even now I still call him Hamburger. <3 Old habits die hard. This one will always be my favorite.

@soumario That's one good thing about this Famous Studios Popeye--there's no "spinach scene." It's a star turn for J. Wellington Wimpy. In all fairness, Bluto started this conflict by opening up a diner near Popeye's 'Just part of his years long campaign to mess with the one-eyed sailor.

Famous Studios didn't use Wimpy very much-but when they did,as in this classic cartoon,he was in full character as a moocher and a cheat.(Arf-arf-arf)

In this cartoon(and in another,Penny Antics-based on the old Fleischer Customers Wanted)Popeye and Bluto are competing for Wimpy instead of Olive,as they usualy do in cartoons of this period.

Writer Jack Mercer(also Popeye's voice from 1935 on)must have remembered older cartoons as well as Wimpy from the original comic strip.
