You actually need to resort to strategy and utilize the enemy's weakness (rather than watch the same tech attacks over and over like in Ep.1... *cough*Spell Ray*cough*).
I haven't tried Episode III yet, but to me this battle system was more complex than the 1st. Not to mention the soundtrack and emotions from battles like this... I guess everyone has their tastes though. =/
So lame, no need to use Stock Skill every times if you have defeated all the boss in the Encephalons and ended all the boring bunny missions, You will get everything you need, Stock Bracelet etc, your weapons are not the last one for Jr either, you waste your time and turn to attack, raise all your stats, Either and Physical Attack, use Annihilation and do all the chain combo, you will be able to hit 12,000+ every time, this is what I was doing.. this is the most boring battle I even seen. v.v
Yes the 'final boss' is easy but it's not like this doesn't make any sense. The Patriarch is the real final boss, just like BFA was in FFX. There was just something that needed to be done after the real final boss. And if you know the story, Albedo is intentionally throwing the fight and just trying to piss Jr. off. As short as Ep II was, did you really want the game to end after the Patriarch? LOL And the scenes just before this where Jr is basically losing it are sweet.
I feel that this is easily the worse Xenosaga out of the three. Its just not as good as the 1 and 3. Episode 2 was really half-assed. Its like they distributed the game before it was finished or something.

I love one on one duels, I've always thought they made for great battles, however i also love challenging final battles, looks like with this I only get one and not the other.
Okay. First of all, I MUST say the BGM is badass! Probably the best track (in my opinion) in the whole game. That said, I was PISSED the battle wasn't harder. I was also pissed that it was a duel instead of the whole party being there! I really really wish this had been a true final battle.
talk about one of the easiest final bosses. he makes it so you cant die, calls you a trator, gets high off pain, uses wimpy magic, and thats about it. still loved this game, 1 and 3 more.
he wasnt really there for the diffuculity , he was just there as a story finisher. i thought it was pretty epic considering rubedo's and albedo's past together. loved the fact it was one on one.
I think that's the way the player is supposed to attack him. I like how the battle is really tied into the story. If Red Dragon doesn't continually hurt Albedo he will just regenerate.
Yeah right... xenogears was was good but not that good. This ending in Xenosaga had more emotions then Xenogears, And the music is more better! No to mention better bad guys and character designs... :)
I liked the story in Xenogears better though. The plot was pretty mind blowing for its time. I also liked the combat system alot more than XS 1 and 2. I liked XS3's combat system alot too though. I think 3 was the best of the XS series IMO but I still like XG..
@Artificialraven I know Xenogears doesn't seem to start out with a lot, but man did the plot evolve as it went along. Probably one of the top rated RPGs I've ever played on my list.
I know what you mean though--as much as I like these tech attacks in Xenosaga, I miss all of the deathblows each character got... plus gear battles were awesome. =P
When he's at 1k or below and you get 3 stock, boost! after you hit so you can hit some more to bad there isn't any Secret Nocturne in this V cuz I saw someone do 2k dmg with it in first game
I found it hard to do any significant ammo without charging max stock and casting elemental buffs for high combos. It was especially hard since I usually used Shion/KOS-MOS/Ziggy, and Shion's attack changes elements mid-combo.
@Artificialraven yeah the creators did not like the battle system in Xenosaga 2 that's why they reverted back to the battle system from Xenosaga 1 in Xenosaga 3
Dude you were either really unlucky in this battle, or you wanted to it drag on. I battled Albedo lots of times but i've never seen him use Regenerate Consciousness that many times. That must've been annoying. :P

no in xenosaga 2 there is only the one weapon per character and tech attacks are basically gone, in my opinion its not as good as the first game.

I've battled Albedo a few times but I don't think he ever used Regenerate Consciousness! I never used stock and just hit his weak spots.
Anyway, I thought this battle was pretty cool, the music is good, and I absolutely love the ending scenes. Albedo is awesomeness.
