Demons are awesome. I want this game for Demon Returns alone. ...Why is it "returns", is there another one? I hope so. Go, Demon, Go! Reminds me of some strange amalgamation of Mario and Kirby, with the platforming and utilizing monsters for personal benefit (i.e. riding on).
@zaccds Since you only want it to go the the US and not other English speaking countries in general, I won't sign this facebook thing, instead I will import it and laugh about you not being able to.
Yeah. Mom bought me a brand new unopened copy of "Retro Game Challenge" for Christmas 2009.
Also, it helps if one actually buys the game rather than download it illegally. After all, Nintendo has taken a strong stance against pirated games in the past and will continue to do so.
I personally think the real reason that the sequel will never come out here isn't just sales. It's also because one of the games in the collection is a visual novel/text adventure style game, and they don't think anybody would be willing to play through that at all.
Buy Retro Game Challenge, or this game, along with all the others designed for Game Center CX2, will never make it to American soil. XSeed had stated if RGC sells at least 100,00 copies, only then will the sequel come out here. So buy it, or miss out on some faux retro-gaming enjoyment.
What is it with the guys at the real Game Center CX show and their interest in seeing a male game character and a female character walking around being lovey-dovey and then some monster swoops in from the sky and takes the female character away. They made a big deal about it when Arino played Ghosts 'n' Goblins. Kidnappings aren't that amazing...
Yeah. What were they thinking giving Arino Ghost n' Goblins. First day out he ended up having to take the console and game home for "homework"! And even then he never really saved the Princess in the end (AD Sasano had to do it if I remember right.)
looks like i'm gonna have to import the second game since i heard they have no plans to release it statewide. glad i took 4 semesters of japanese in college and hopefully can wing (read and understand) the challenges.
i admit though, i had a hard time locating it in the first place. all the major outlets i went to didn't have it except for gamestop and my local gamestore (that has everything).
Take a look into the company that published the first "retrogame Challege" in the USA-- I think it was more of a monentary issue and worry about the game-- it'd be popular in JP, but in the USA it'd be a tough sell...
From what I've heard, the first game seems to have been selling pretty decently in the USA.
In fact, various people e-mailed XSeed, and the response was that they'd try to bring over the sequel, but there are various issues they have to deal with first.
Demon Returns looks similar to Mario with increasing sizes and jumping on enemies. You can also ride on the enemies. This game is supposed to be a different parody version of Super Mario Bros.
I just wish the box art was not as god awful as it is. The thing really needed to be a bit more busy or try to capture the 80s of box art. Maybe a Drew Struzan style cover.
Also the icon looks horrifying, but underneath the ho-hum packaging (Which is better since it displays a spaceship at least to give you a hint of the game.) The game is awesome and really is amazing. The worst part is Guadia.
Guadia reminds me of Dragons Quest which I do kind of have a few good memories of however back when a JRPG's insanely distanced combat was acceptable. Now though, JRPG combat is inexcusably boring. At least Guadia though has that charm of Dragons Quest which makes it less painful.
All in all the sequal is something highly desired since the first one is very good and has lots of that 80s charm without the tears when you realize how unpolished some of the older games were. Everything plays solid and reminds me of the games I grew up with back in the 80s.

i want this game to come to the US so badly. We fans need to start a facebook campaign or something to let them know how bad we fans want it.

@supersaver 87 Buying used doesn't help anyone but the person/store you purchased it from. Support developers.

I kinda wish they brought over #2 now...Now I'll never get to play it at all.
And do NOT say "import it". I would like to play it in ENGLISH, thank you very much.

I don't think that would be a problem, because the Phoenix Wright series is similar, and it has quite a big fanbase over here, too.

I hadn't heard of Retro Game Challenge until I bought a used copy last month. I'm now very sorry I didn't get it earlier.
I'm at least doing my part by trying to convince my friends to buy it...every little sale counts!

@supersaver87 Glad you like it. Retro's my specialty.

These types of plots were apparently the norm back then...

Not just the norm, they were the RULE. Either the girl gets kidnapped or you have to save the world or both (Save the world and the girl)
