GONKA. Can I use part of your video as slides in my video. I used your idea of construction. I will provide footnote credit for your design. Is it ok sir?
Could be wrong but this could be passed off as a make ship wing chun dummy. Am I not correct? I like the idea! Plus, it looks like it is easy on the wallet to make versus having to order a wing chun dummy. I could be wrong.
You know, I must admit that I really like this idea. Its simplicity seems to enable a great deal of functionality! As a kung fu practitioner, I can see the benefit of using such a device, and it won't cost too much! Do you ever secure it to the ground or weigh down the base? can you drill through the post to attach arms? What angles? All in all, great idea...respect! Keep up the good work and God bless.
nice dummy gonk! i would have gone for a wider base but thats just personnal preference LOL. do you do any 'banging arm' drills with it? you know to condition your forearms for striking and blocking?
good point they dont fight back BUT neither does a punch bag or focus mits. the post is ONLY a tool to get the angles of attack down and then work them in with the sparing. ALSO if you work of dummy or post you condition your body by hitting something hard. you can do this to help blocking and increasing the power of your hits. impact work is only one part of training for a functional fighter. you said in a prev post u have a dummy. then you would know this or at least train ur self?
Have you watched the rest of our videos? We do spar. POST Training is merely a portion of our curriculum for those times when a training partner may not be available. The POST is also used to increase angle awareness & as a live weapon integration tool that allows one to use live blades & sticks with full power & sharp edges. This is something that is woefully lacking in most curricula. If you are going to criticize our stuff you had better do your research. Or are you just looking to argue?
Nope! The GONKA POST is a realistic replication of bone & tissue. It is plenty hard. I am not training Iron Palm here, I am training for real confrontation in the modern world. The duct tape over towels, over 2x4s becomes hard as a rock when wrapped tightly over & over. It also allows integration of live blades into your training.The original POST has been getting wrapped for nearly 2 decades and it's like a piece of stone & not much bulkier than year 1. You gotta wrap it TIGHT!
The GONKA POST is very, very HARD, make no mistake... Anything that gets beaten on the GONKA POST gets harder for the effort... Gonkafied's GONKA POST is harder than your Daddy's GONKA POST!!!
I have done a model with a telephone pole. Way to heavy in my opinion. The point of the GONKA POST is for the device to be maneuverable, in order to replicate the dynamics of the fight. Once you get the thing padded and taped for use, a telephone pole would be enormous! The POST is very portable and all ya need for wood is 2x4s. Simple!
thanx and lot, I was about to do something similar, using brackets and screws to make it disassemble easily. I have some old foam from a mattress I'm wrapping it in. But thanx for the idea for a base, will work much better than what i was going to do lol

Thanks Gonka for giving me ideas from your design. I will post my martial arts wing chun striking station project soon.

@windowwisher
That is obvious. However, when you dont have a partner, these drills do help though.
