@fireburst102 Some people have no soul, the scrap value cannot have been much, far less then her value as a boat. Surely there were people who could afford her? Over here we are rebuilding the paddle steamer Medway Queen, from the keel up.
I was lucky enough to be a replete passenger on all three Steamboats. They were some of the happiest vacation days ever. I cannot thank these great steamboats or their wonderful crews enough for such special days on the Mississippi river. It seems like they are starting to return to service, I'll be there again too.
What a wonderful tribute to this grand old lady. We are in danger of losing a part of our American culture (riverboating) to the greed of corporations and the idiotic regulations that come from an ever increasingly oppressive government in Washington. Glad to report the the American Queen has been saved and is taking reservations for cruises early in the next year. Pray that the Delta Queen will eventually make it back into active service. Requires a literal act of Congress.
@pianomanthree16 I just want to say thank you so much for putting this together. Its very tastefully done and I do not mind showing this to my friends. Excellent job on the filmography and an appropriate sound track. This video without any doubt is five star material. Gary-Vicksburg, MS
@Gary198101 Gary, thanks for the kind words. I have to admit that I didn't have the same affection for the MQ that I did for the Delta Queen, but I know how very much she meant to so many others, and I can't help but feel the hurt and pain of watching an authentic steamboat be lost to history because of greed and circumstance.
I worked on both the Mississippi Queen and the American Queen from Feb. 2005 until that same December! I have to say that working aboard two of the most amazing steamboats was truly a life changing experience for me! thank you for the video, I sure do miss it
Gee, I sure do miss her a lot. I spent some of the greatest years of my life working aboard her with some of the happiest passengers ever to travel a river system. How sad to see her gone. She fulfilled so many dreams with her construction. Greedy people ruined them fast in the end, didn't they? The world needs boats like her bad. If they only knew....
@cleannewyork Thanks for the comment. It's not easy emotionally putting together a video like this, especially with the memories of being out on the little fishing boat filming this, getting so close to her and such a great day on the river with the sun shining just right and the boat looking so majestic.
it's a absolutly wonderfull ship, i love him. my dream to drive with him.

Even though it was built in 1976, it still didn't deserve to be destroyed.

@KenMacMillan They didn't. The latest report says that they're being cut up for scrap value.

@pianomanthree16 That's a shame. It would've been nice if they had made into another boat.
