Russells comedic persona really does not combine well with Mr Hagelins primarily factual and scientific persona. Even though Russell is an incredibly intelligent person, and no doubt understands what he's saying, the fact that he's in front of an audience and is looking for laughs more than information leads to an odd dynamic between these two.
A private conversation between these two would be much more productive than this one in front of an audience.
@OnlyTheBestDnB I think though, Russells approach helps translate the Dr's words into something other people can understand or at the very least grabs the audience's attention more than The Dr. would have alone.
Old Russ is way out of his depth here, his predictable religious rhetoric undermines the interview. Perhaps the Dr's findings may evoke some change in Russell's religious belief's through his meditation.
@cjason123 he's predictable in the way any other celebrity is predicted able don't you agree? If you've seen a lot of someone you kind of no what they're gonna talk about. He however has a much wider breadth of interests then the normal superficial 'star'
@ihfppl please do soem research on what "That guy" has done for physics and the way we understand the universe and conciousness. He's truly remarkable.
@ihfppl How is he being a dick? He doesn't laugh like the audience does at Russel? Seems likeyou have a crush on Russel...John Hagelin did nothing wrong, Hagelin has a sense of humour. But when you've discovered and have put through science a method of reaching higher brain function that can really help the world you want tobe taken serious. I don't see anything Hagelin does wrong. Russel is being a dick for patronizing..look that word up kid.
@Shep11111 haha, i love how you feel good with yourself after say patronizing.. sorry my physics obsessive friend, that word won't do it over here.. "you want to be taken serious.." umm. you can be taken serious and know the difference between a joke and someone being patronizing.. look that difference up kid.. besides, russell is inevitably spreading the same word your friend there is, so there is no real sense of putting him on a pedistil. cmon little man, i can do this in my sleep.
@owenhunt I know, didn't mean tomake it seem like that. he advocates what he was taught and has put it through the rigors of science and testing to back it up.
@Shep11111 I think you have to accept some people's opinions on today's society. Many top brains could fill Hagelin's shoes, while Russell is almost unique in his madness. Of course, ihfppl has acted flagrantly and subvertively with you about that. I apologise for my fellow Brand fan.
I can forgive John Hagelin for being a pedestrain interviewee. It's better our scientists get down to the nitty-gritty in the lab than sparkle with champagne wit at a public event.

Haha this is exactly his interview technique from the radio show. You can't expect Russell to interview someone in a usual way

@Shep11111 John Hagelin didn't discover transcendental meditation... He has simply set out the posts for what it should incorporate.
