absolutly frightening power there. i had the pleasure of getting a tour in the engine room of this monster. 2 of the 4 engines are the same model as used in a boeing 747. standing at the back like this gave me goosebumps. the video simply does not do the scale of the stena hss justice. thats what 100 thousand horsepower looks like at full tilt.
@allistairc123 Ah rite, i thought you said "two of the four engines." I'm not saying youre wrong, just wondered how they would get enough air in to them, and with there being four of them as you say...?
I had a sandwich once. it had bread, meat, cheese...really everything a good sandwich needs. I chewed the first bite maybe 8-9 times...it was a really good roll. The mayo and mustard were in just the right proportion and complemented the roll perfectly. (cont)
It was built in Perth australia by a company called austral ships, I saw them doing the sea trials on it. Not sure how that is British sea power when built in australia by australians.
@crazybails1 No it wasnt, it was built in Finland, these are the biggest high speed ferrys in operation, and are bigger than anything Austal have built, they are the Stena HSS 1500 class of high speed ferries.
In all fairness it's not about where they are built, it's about who invented them... a guy from New Zealand who was not native but from British descent invented the technology.
How much gas? Near enough 20,000 Litres/Hour at 40 knots (46mph / 74kmph). Yep, about 110 Gallons per Mile! Makes sense why they can't afford to run them at that speed very much...
