@hideout41 other people have build some of our planes out of different materials and had great success. Some of the materials that have been used are Depron foam, Blucore foam, fanfold insulation foam and even coroplast a kind of corrugated plastic, the same kind used to make political signs. You can find some of these at the local hardware store or just search online.
@hideout41 Office Works in Australia sells foam board. Its a bit expensive at about $10 to $15 per sheet but it comes in all colors and tape sticks to it better than it does to depron due to the cardboard surface.
Hey Frank I love you plane do you think you could post or share your plans. I think your plane is awsome. I invite you to watch my video on a F18 I build from scratch also I did not desing the plane but it was design by Steve Shutmate he has 6 other plane as well.
@daadood100 plans of the revised Bullet Plane are now available on rcFoamFighters blog website. The revised plane looks a little different but flies much better then this original design. You can find a link to the blog in the profile column on rcfoamFighters YouTube channel.
if you want to have a plane that is more monuverable put the prop in front of the controls so this way when the wind from the prop hit them it will give more airflow to them and the plan can be flown as long as the prop is spining like when u see high alpha flying the prop is pushing so much air to the control cerfaceses it can hover and still proform barrel rolls when its nerrly not moving at all its just that wind from the prop... hope i helped u message me back and tell me what u think
ronsta2002 plans for the Bullet Plane are not available yet, but please have a look at rcFoamFighters blog for free plans of some of the other planes we have built.
Any half range or full range receiver will work. I was using my DX6i 6 Channel Spektrum receiver in this plane which is a park flyer receiver. I don't use these in my fast planes anymore because of range issues.
I would have to agree. It was my own fault for not taking all the necessary steps before going out to fly a new plane and I did it repeatedly because I was to in a hurry to get out and fly. Hopefully I learned my lesson.
Top video again mate and you call yourself a novice flyer so i'd like to know how long have you been flying then? hope you don't mind all the questions lol,5*
i agree on the foam board, you put all the time in the your plane and it doesnt survive the crash. after switching to fanfold and seeing the weight decrease and crash survivability increase, i wont be going back. i will try epp soon because of your videos. i loved the read out on the props! you guys have all sorts of goodies! i wish i could get my radar gun to read as easy as yours. great video again! and dont worry about the crash, we all do it. especially with test planes.
Thanks for your comment!! The Bullet plane is made from plain old ordinary foam board you can buy in many stores, not EPP. I will be doing some EPP builds coming soon!!
As for the batteries both Paul and I have had nothing but great results using these. Without having more info I can't tell you exactly why yours burnt. The most common reasons are over amping, over charging and over draining the batteries. Think I will have to do a short video on this soon.
Thanks Chris!! Yea the plane was pretty messed up after that one but I got her all back together again. Maybe you and Mike can get back out here this summer. We'll take you out flying so you can catch the addiction too LOL!!!
Good stuff, Humphrey. The Bullet Plane looked more like an elbow after that crash! Wish I was out there to be building and testing with you guys. Keep up the good work! Look forward to
30 degrees is good weather for you????? i must be spoiled with so cal weather. this is the part i hate the most if finding the best COG. i feel better now after watching this because it usually takes about 3 crashes and repairs for me to get it right. now i know that i'm not the only one who eats earth when test flying. looks like 5 inches back from the lead of the wing was the magic number.
30 degrees is better weather for us than the last couple weekends. Not good but better. This weekend it's in the 70s but at the moment there is a severe weather alert till 11am. Might not be able to get out for more test flying today, we'll have to wait and see. That's Missouri weather for you!! As for the CG I will be putting it somewhere back between 5 and 5.25 inches because now that I've had time to think about it the plane was nosing down just a little in the 2nd flight too.
Thanks for the comment and brilliant advice!! I was just thinking about larger stabs myself but not sure I will do it just yet. Guess we'll see in the next video.
As for the weather It was so cold we only got a few flights in before I couldn't feel my fingers so we called it a day. The wind just made it to unbearable.
Thanks for the comment and I agree with you on that one 100% but if I only flew on calm days I would have to find another hobby to fill all my free time. Such is the weather here in Missouri. Summer is usually the best time to fly.
That was one fast bullet. I looked at the video closely and I will build slightly larger stabilizers. Just my humble opinion. I got my money on you, can't wait for the rebuild video. You guys are a brave bunch, I would never fly with the weather that cold, I got cold just watching you, brrrrr!!!
I just got way too anxious to fly and made a serious mistake by forgetting to set the expo/dr. This made the plane super sensitive on the roll causing over correction and uncontrollable flight. Trust me I will be going over my setup thoroughly before the next test flight.
great video, cant wait to see it back in the air! I really like your channel keep up the good work, like to see you guys build a big one, like dave powers f-35 :<)
Thanks for your inspiration!! It really helps us keep on building. Both Paul and I have been talking about a large plane project. Not sure when yet, have a few other builds to finish first.
The second flight looked fast and smooth. Man, sorry to see the jet crash so hard into the ground. I know it doesn't take long for you guys to get back in the air. Really great information on your video about the KF airfoil and the location of the motor. I am going to check the roll rate on my DX6i.
Thanks!! I'm happy to hear you got some useful info out of it. I also would have to agree the second flight on the first day of testing went the best. I will probably start back from there when I get everything back together. The speed of this plane can be deceiving because moving the prop out into the open makes the plane much quieter. Makes you think it's moving slower than it really is.
Damn that was a nasty crash humphrey. I guess that's part of the design phase. But don't worry, the Wright Brothers weren't succesful the first time out either. I'm sure you'll get it right. And I'm willing to bet some pork kabbabs at Fast Eddy's, that it will break the 100mph barrier. :)
Thanks for the vote of confidence Mikeo!!! I hope your right about breaking the three digit barrier. That would be cool!!! Next time you fly out here the pork kabbobs are on me!!!
That thing was beautiful... sorry to see it crash, I felt bad for yah. Thanks for the vids!
