Its sad seeing ppl push heavy bikes and goods up the steep bit.. I know its a historic bridge but are you aware of any new bridges that might be constructed in the future?
Theres already one to the left (as the rickshaw travels) & the construction is underway on a new bridge a mile down on the right. You can see the foundations on google map & some of my pics on flickr & skyscrapercity sylhet forums. It's an unfortunate reality as employment opportunities are few & far between. There are 'pushers' even on the new bridge! The current rate is 2 taka.
