The term "antibiotic" in the video is too vague - note, the speaker is not necessarily a scientist (or bio scientist). The correct term is "bacteriophage". In point of fact, scientists have been aware for some time of the benefits of fly bacteriophages to kill bacteria.

HIV cases have not stayed stable? Or confined to risk groups! Transmissibility is down to virus design and evolution; different subtypes infect different groups due to being more suited to different transmission routes. E.g vaginal, anal, blood to blood. Africa having 1;3 infected in places is all same subtype. This is heterosexual infection largely and this subtype has now just started in the Islamic communities, and the west.
HIV does not get in to you due to a weakened immune system! It gets in through physical breaches in structures. These can be facilitated by other pathogens such as chlamydia. E.g blood to blood etc. If it gets in in a sufficient quantity it takes hold immediately. Period. If anything, a strong immune system is a far more attractive prospect to HIV than a weak one. However, When someone is infected with a microbe strain with vancomycin resistance, vancomycin is still given to the patient as a treatment at higher doses to kill that specific bacteria. Where as if you're infected with a simple streptococcal throat infection, you're given a broad spectrum antibiotic that can kill that strain as well as others.

HIV cases have not stayed stable? Or confined to risk groups! Transmissibility is down to virus design and evolution; different subtypes infect different groups due to being more suited to different transmission routes. E.g vaginal, anal, blood to blood. Africa having 1;3 infected in places is all same subtype. This is heterosexual infection largely and this subtype has now just started in the Islamic communities, and the west.

HIV does not get in to you due to a weakened immune system! It gets in through physical breaches in structures. These can be facilitated by other pathogens such as chlamydia. E.g blood to blood etc. If it gets in in a sufficient quantity it takes hold immediately. Period. If anything, a strong immune system is a far more attractive prospect to HIV than a weak one. Bit like headlice prefer clean hair!

We can be exposed to HIV lots of times, but if your immune system is weakened from a parasitic infection or other infections, it can allow HIV to get in and "persist". If your shit is compromised allowing HIV to get a foot hold, then obviously the MAIN cause is not HIV its your immune system being compromised. The genetic sequence of HIV is mapped out and there is no genetic reason that HIV would cause AIDS. It is a harmless passenger virus that may be present when your immune system is weak. But it won't cause AIDS.

Secondly, when an infectious disease first emerges, the disease spreads only among the risk group AT FIRST, then it spreads. If HIV alone caused AIDS, except HIV resistent individuals would have a persistent HIV infection. The AIDS cases stay pretty much stable. Bacteria cells that already have the resistance gene within their DNA survive when the dosage of antibiotic given to a patient is not sufficient to kill these resistant bacteria cells (Survival of the fittest indeed, but not a genetic make over, thus NOT evolution).
