HELP my cockateil is scared of everything that isn't human. i tried to give him a half of a blueberry and he freaked he even hissed i a chunk of apple the size of a seed. he will eat some things if he sees me eating it but that's it. if i give him a new toy it is terrifying to him. i feel like he will be bores if all he is missing out on life because of his fear of everything. what should i do?
@zerordieb87 yeh that happens often ... my birds are scared of everything too .. the more time you spend with them and the more things you introduce them to the better they will get... when it comes to food try eating it infront of them and when feeding them cut it up in really small pieces and put it in their food container
I'm 11 years old and I'm REALLY hoping to get my own cockatiel REALLY soon. I'm ready for the responsibility and i've done ALOT of research. I'm still trying to take in as much information as I can....so if you see this I would greatly appreciate your tips/tricks/etc.! Thank you so much!
@willymacmac3 I thinks you just need to try it. Try give her millet or get the pieces off millet and put it in a separate food dish. She wil eat by herself and then try to give the millet stick. My cockatiel did that to.
what should do? i have a cockatiel but wen i try to play/train with her she flys to her favorite place in my room ( ontop of my dressser) then when i try to get her she either bites me or flys around the room until she crashes=(...but when i take her to a different room she like scared of the room . PLZ HELP!
yeh that happnes sometimes.... solution #1 let her play in your room ( shes doing this b/c she wants some freedom and wants to be out of the cage ) so just let her out for a bit each day (if possible)
or solution #2 keep taking her to the other room and slowly make her gut use to it ( she would need to spend more time there to get use to it ) and then start training
its ok you can use other food ...or use smaller pieces by crushing them thats what I did ... and let your bird know what it is , then keep putting in more and more bigger pieces.
and yes this does take time, they usually get it pritty fast but some take more time, they all learn in their own pace .. and not all are interested in learning (my Pearl doesnt care for learning shes really lazy, but doesnt mean you cant teach her) some cockatiels are more enthusiastic about learning stuff
i found this cockatiel toybox. it was soo cool and had everything inside it tht they play with (well maybe everything) they had blocks of wood rapped in paper to tear. rope bells and a stick! =P ur bird is very cute
but i have a problem,i dont use clicker training as in malaysia, its very rare and EXPENSIVE.....my tiel would forget tricks and some time do not want to learn some....wat must i do??
if I had a girlfriend I wish my girlfriend will talk to me exactly, just, like, that.

the problem with my cockatiel is that he is afraid of the pellets i give him. if u cant do that, theres no hope on target training him.
