Orchards are constantly rotating trees. Every 30 years or so the trees are ripped out, the ground is planted in buckwheat, the buckwheat is allowed to grow for 2 years to replenish the soil and remove pests that die upon eating the buckwheat, and then new trees are planted. Usually closer together than the old trees. Those trees were not too close together as previously stated. Orchards try to space trees as closely as possible to maximize yield per acre.
Why not donate the trees? Schools, poor neighborhoods, something. shit, my backyard and front could use a fruit bearing tree. I would pay for it too.

Why not burlap the roots and sell the trees?
