Ok You gave some actual drum tips then i'd recommend Leonardo drum school... Prety good books with easy forms but if you can beat them on around 80 ( on your metronome) theyre awesome and make you fast (why did i watch this.....lol)
Real drums or not these do take a lot of practice just like an actual drum kit. Just because you run on a treadmill doesn't mean you're not running. Rock Band emulates actual drums very well and requires almost all of the same technique. Cut the guy some slack, his tips may not be the greatest but he's just trying to help.
@Darkdayzz It really depends on whether you play "heel up" or "heel down". When playing "heel up", I find that I swivel my foot to help with speed and sometimes complicated rhythms. Foot placement closer to the beater allows you to press the pedal down easier, and farther away is harder to press down, but allows for faster playing.
When playing "heel down", I find it very hard to move my foot around the pedal, but I'm able to play more technical parts. I don't play "heel down" very often.
@ninjaman632 I bought the drum pads from goodwoodmods[dot]com. I'd rather suggest that you go to rockbandparts[dot]com to see if you can find something there because GWMs has been having poor service as of late from what I understand.
Are you taking the piss ? look mate this game is only a game, wtf is the point of upgrading all the kit, and learning to snare drum for a game, you sad nob ! nice ears arsehole.
just wondering, why are you treating this like real drumming? snare books, super awesome upgraded stuff, etc? not trying to be mean, but im wondering, cuz its only a game =)
@poolk234 Because, it's a game that some people take seriously. There are plenty of drummers that play for bands that play this game as well. Also, Harmonix treats it not as a game, but as another way to connect someone to the music. With Rock Band 3 coming out, PRO-mode is designed to be one step closer to playing the actual parts.
As far as upgrading equipment, the stock kit simply cannot handle the harder songs. It repeatedly drops notes on fast rolls and cannot handle aggressive players.
@poolk234 Also, the reason I recommended these book is because they are the foundation to playing a vast majority of the patterns and rhythms in the game. The books cover various techniques that one would find useful in the game on different sections, such as paradiddles, double stroke rolls, etc.
All of this comes into play when you are trying to maintain control at high speeds around the drum kit.
I highly recommend watching some of CorruptedHomeless's videos.
I love how you call it a drum kit, do you realize that your just hitting plastic rubber coated pads that give no real music. With all the time and money you would be spending on your "drumming" techniques, you might as well get yourself a real drum set and practice properly your methods there, were it would be more effective in REAL life.
@DaNgiTsJosH Thanks. All of these tips are from experience and different ideas I had. It's definitely worth investing in better sticks, at the very least.
me and you should score dolw sometime dont know how to spell lol add me jesse208 i play expart and i use and rock band 2 stock with a rock pedal getting an ion very very soon and you need way more sub than you have sooo plzz add me we should do it tommorew
I wouldn't buy a lot of cool stuff for the drums (it is just a game after all) but this is a good start into moving into an actual drum set.

I don't mean any hate by this comment, but if you're this serious about Drum video games, you should drum for real if you don't already

on rock band 2 the drum trainer is actually pretty helpful =]
wwsangus 1 year ago
@wwsangus Indeed. The drum trainer is something that I regularly use. There are 2 sections I can't pass at 200bpm. But it definitely does help.
