Or do you think all those lines in the hebrew bible are true?? It's not because a book writes "Allah said" or "God said" or "Shiva said" that it's true!! Why do you want to believe a book so blindly? @MyIslamlove Mohamed preached about various subjects, it seems he thought what he said (his teachings) was inspired from God (whether it was or not, no one can know). What he said was written down by followers on various papers, and collected after his death. They put words into god's mouth like "allah said" because they needed it for narration and because they thought that what Mohamed said came from God. But none of them (the followers who wrote Quran) had ever heard Allah say something.
@MyIslamlove: Obviously, Mohamed said to his followers: "the Lord created man from a clot, He is most generous" etc., and when this was written down by followers, it became "Allah said: Read the name of your Lord..." etc. Since to the followers' point of view, Mohamed was just repreating God's words. But of that, there is *no* proof. And if you consider it a proof simply because it is written in Quran, then all other religious texts mentioning a god's quotes can be said proofs too...

@MyIslamlove Mohamed thought this was the right thing to do. When you do or say something, is it always because someone has ordered you? No. Mohamed talked about what he thought was right. Maybe he did really think this was also what God considered right. But it's not because he talked about things to do or to avoid, that he was following God's orders. He was able to think by himself and to have opinions about what was right and wrong. Same goes for Jesus.

@MyIslamlove A car is not a human!! A car is inanimate and can be mastered only with specific mechanics. A man has a brain and evolved since the dawn of time. You want to believe God sent his rules... So why would it be Quran? Why not hebrew bible? new testament? Rig Vedas? Avesta? Etc... If he wanted to show his instructions, why not appear to everyone, instead of saying his rules to 1 person who would have to painstakingly convince others?

I can quickly answer you anyway: I believe the purpose of life is to spiritually/intellectually evolve. I think how you behave determines what will happen to you (your soul) after life. I strongly strongly believe the rules CANNOT be found all ready in a book...
@MyIslamlove I can't imagine God giving his word all ready in a book, so just like sheep we would have to simply follow it. I believe we have a brain for a purpose, I believe it's our job to determine what is good and what is not, using REASON. That's a process of evolving.

@MyIslamlove As I already said, I will NEVER believe Quran (or the Bible) is God's word, since it mentions stuff that didn't happen. It recognizes Abraham as a monotheist and Moses as having led the Hebrews out of Egypt, and this is mythological, not historical facts. However, I think there can be interesting/good teachings in the Quran (and in other sacred books/religions), I just wouldn't presume they came from God.. About alcohol, its good/bad effects were known before Quran.

Alcohol being known and consumed by humans since several millenia BC, you can imagine that its double effects didn't remain unknown until Quran...

@MyIslamlove I don't have a problem with Islam banning alcohol. It was the prophet's decision, and those who follow him follow this rule. This rule doesn't hurt anyone so I don't have a problem with this rule. BUT what I have a problem with is when some people say "it's god's rule to ban alcohol, because it can be bad", or "Quran was the first text to mention the good and bad effects of alcohol, this proves Quran is god's word".
@MyIslamlove There is no way to prove Quran - or any other book - is God's words. That I why I don't have a problem with what people believe in, fine if you want to believe Quran is God's words, but you have no proof of it and it's annoying when muslims always try to pass this off as a fact. There isn't even proof that god exists (and I recognize that even though I believe in god!). People should not mistakes their beliefs for facts.

It became real monotheism and real judaism during the 6th century BC under the influence of the Persians and zoroastrianism. At the supposed time of Abraham/Ibrahim, there was NO monotheism...

Most likely, Abraham is a reconstruction aiming at explaining the unity of the ancient Israelites, both concerning ethnicity and religion. He is the figure of the patriarch. The Quran mentions him because the prophet was influenced, like other people from Arabia, by bible narratives: he believed in Abraham.

These are well documented historical facts: creating a mythtical ancester, a patriarch, eventually loosely based on a real chief or suchlike, in order to reconstruct a tribe's or nation's past. This regularly happened in Antiquity. So you see, I can't believe that the Quran is God's word, since it talks about things that go again historical knowledge. The Quran also recognizes Moses and the Exodus, but this is a mythical, not historical, event.
@MyIslamlove To finish, you asked me to read about allah. Allah means "God". I believe there is a God. But I don't believe in sacred texts, neither Bible nor Quran since they are flawed. Quran is flawed in the sense it mentions things/characters from the Ancient Testament that didn't happen/didn't exist as such. I believe no religion can be 100% right.

@MyIslamlove Adam is purely mythological... Man is the product of evolution and we all come from apes that lived several millions years ago. This is documented through paleoanthropoly AND genetics. Muslim authors will have a muslim point of view: Quran mentions Adam, so Adam was true. But Quran is just a book, I will never understand how some people hold a book as more true than scientific studies.

There are many scientific elements showing man evolved from apes (therefore Adam as such couldn't have existed). It doesn't mean the story of Adam is useless, it can be a very interesting story, with meanings, but it's not factual.

I didn't compare with God. I said: Gandhi said very ethical and intelligent things, it doesn't mean what he repeated god's word. In the same way: the prophet can say interesting ethical or intelligent things in Quran, it doesn't mean it was god's words; Besides, he can say intelligent stuff, it doesn't mean everything in the book is factual.

I'm not saying it's not great, and fine for you if you're happy with your religion, but the historical reasons for Islam to be so widespread are: 1) intense wars to make people convert during the middle ages 2) high birthrate, which is today the reason why muslim has a strong progression (jainism and sikhism have almost as strong a progression than Islam does for the same reason)

Your allegation that Allah resurrected him is pure belief and cannot be argued, therefore there's no need in mentioning it, it's of no use when it comes to serious study of the Gospels. You can believe one of them is right, but you cannot prove it. Also, Islam say Jesus wasn't really killed, and this allegation has no ground. There is no reason to doubt he was killed, there are historical indications, and Islam coming several centuries after saying "he wasn't crucified" doesn't make much sense historically speaking.

Muslims came like 6 centuries after Jesus was dead and they allege he wasn't crucified. On the belief level, they can believe that if they want, just as a christian can believe he died and ressurected. BUT when it comes to history, the only indications we have mention crucifixion, which makes sense in the social/political context in which Jesus lived (his eschatological speeches can have been seen as political disturbance). There is NOTHING on a historical level that supports he wasn't killed.

@MyIslamlove Mohamed preached about various subjects, it seems he thought what he said (his teachings) was inspired from God (whether it was or not, no one can know). What he said was written down by followers on various papers, and collected after his death. They put words into god's mouth like "allah said" because they needed it for narration and because they thought that what Mohamed said came from God. But none of them (the followers who wrote Quran) had ever heard Allah say something.

@MyIslamlove: Obviously, Mohamed said to his followers: "the Lord created man from a clot, He is most generous" etc., and when this was written down by followers, it became "Allah said: Read the name of your Lord..." etc. Since to the followers' point of view, Mohamed was just repreating God's words. But of that, there is *no* proof. And if you consider it a proof simply because it is written in Quran, then all other religious texts mentioning a god's quotes can be said proofs too...

@MyIslamlove Mohamed thought this was the right thing to do. When you do or say something, is it always because someone has ordered you? No. Mohamed talked about what he thought was right. Maybe he did really think this was also what God considered right. But it's not because he talked about things to do or to avoid, that he was following God's orders. He was able to think by himself and to have opinions about what was right and wrong. Same goes for Jesus.

You want to believe God sent his rules... So why would it be Quran? Why not hebrew bible? new testament? Rig Vedas? Avesta? Etc... @MyIslamlove As I already said, I will NEVER believe Quran (or the Bible) is God's word, since it mentions stuff that didn't happen. It recognizes Abraham as a monotheist and Moses as having led the Hebrews out of Egypt, and this is mythological, not historical facts. However, I think there can be interesting/good teachings in the Quran (and in other sacred books/religions), I just wouldn't presume they came from God.. About alcohol, its good/bad effects were known before Quran.

@MyIslamlove I don't have a problem with Islam banning alcohol. It was the prophet's decision, and those who follow him follow this rule. This rule doesn't hurt anyone so I don't have a problem with this rule. BUT what I have a problem with is when some people say "it's god's rule to ban alcohol, because it can be bad", or "Quran was the first text to mention the good and bad effects of alcohol, this proves Quran is god's word".

That I why I don't have a problem with what people believe in, fine if you want to believe Quran is God's words, but you have no proof of it and it's annoying when muslims always try to pass this off as a fact. There isn't even proof that god exists (and I recognize that even though I believe in god!). People should not mistakes their beliefs for facts.

Most likely, Abraham is a reconstruction aiming at explaining the unity of the ancient Israelites, both concerning ethnicity and religion. He is the figure of the patriarch. The Quran mentions him because the prophet was influenced, like other people from Arabia, by bible narratives: he believed in Abraham.

These are well documented historical facts: creating a mythtical ancester, a patriarch, eventually loosely based on a real chief or suchlike, in order to reconstruct a tribe's or nation's past. This regularly happened in Antiquity. So you see, I can't believe that the Quran is God's word, since it talks about things that go again historical knowledge. The Quran also recognizes Moses and the Exodus, but this is a mythical, not historical, event.

@MyIslamlove To finish, you asked me to read about allah. Allah means "God". I believe there is a God. But I don't believe in sacred texts, neither Bible nor Quran since they are flawed. Quran is flawed in the sense it mentions things/characters from the Ancient Testament that didn't happen/didn't exist as such. I believe no religion can be 100% right.

@MyIslamlove Adam is purely mythological... Man is the product of evolution and we all come from apes that lived several millions years ago. This is documented through paleoanthropoly AND genetics. Muslim authors will have a muslim point of view: Quran mentions Adam, so Adam was true. But Quran is just a book, I will never understand how some people hold a book as more true than scientific studies.

There are many scientific elements showing man evolved from apes (therefore Adam as such couldn't have existed). I'm not saying it's not great, and fine for you if you're happy with your religion, but the historical reasons for Islam to be so widespread are: 1) intense wars to make people convert during the middle ages 2) high birthrate, which is today the reason why muslim has a strong progression (jainism and sikhism have almost as strong a progression than Islam does for the same reason)

@MyIslamlove I never said he did resurrect. People thought he did, at least those writing the Gospels. No one, that means not even you, is able to say he did or not. Your allegation that Allah resurrected him is pure belief and cannot be argued, therefore there's no need in mentioning it, it's of no use when it comes to serious study of the Gospels. Even christian scholars (the serious ones) leave this point apart when studying the NT.

You can believe one of them is right, but you cannot prove it. Also, Islam say Jesus wasn't really killed, and this allegation has no ground. There is no reason to doubt he was killed, there are historical indications, and Islam coming several centuries after saying "he wasn't crucified" doesn't make much sense historically speaking.

Muslims came like 6 centuries after Jesus was dead and they allege he wasn't crucified. On the belief level, they can believe that if they want, just as a christian can believe he died and ressurected. BUT when it comes to history, the only indications we have mention crucifixion, which makes sense in the social/political context in which Jesus lived (his eschatological speeches can have been seen as political disturbance). There is NOTHING on a historical level that supports he wasn't killed.

@RainbowCountry92 It's very stupid to say someone else's religion is false. Religions cannot be proven. If you say one is false the others can be too. You can have your own religion and believe in it, but accusing another of being false as if it was a fact doesn't make sense.
