  • Rush Is One Best Bands Live

  • Why are you guys cussing each other out? Why are you all so angry? RELAX. Everything is going to be OK. This life here on Earth is so short. Don't go through your life being angry. It is not worth it. Christ in the Bible said," LOVE one another as I have loved YOU." Does not that make more sense than being angry?

  • @mzbgwkk well said ass pirate. thanks for those pearls of wisdom, fudge packer. could'nt agree more, feces breath.your 100 per cent dead on, maggot gagging monkey molester.your quite the man's man, knob gobbler.

  • Yes, I agree with copyman 1986, thank you Canada for giving us the epic band Rush.

  • i can probably say this is the 3 best canucks ever born

  • why would anyone dislike this song...

  • RUSH..... absolutely the best rock to listen to when stoned!

  • Haha - "Niel Piert" and all other funny spellings :

you Canadians and hardcore Rush-fans - just think of the fact that Rush has many many friends all over the world and that not ev'ryone is a native speaker !

Neil has a great drum kit and a surely a great heart too :-)

With Neil or Neal or Niel on drums ... don't care, Rush rocks !!

  • Neil only has a half set! :P

  • ha ha whats with the washing machines??

  • @vox1003 I C this is your first time seeing Rush... Welcome aboard, you will love them.

  • @adzwild not my first time, not my favorite band, just passing through

  • @vox1003 geddy used them to fill up space and make it better on the eye.. because he doesn't have amps on the stage (if i've read correctly, i may be entirely wrong and look incredibly stupid). for the Snakes and Arrows tour, he used chicken rotisseries.. but now, because Alex doesn't use normal looking amps (he uses these weird devices from Hughes&Kettner) Geddy and Alex have similar looking backdrops..

  • @Spazmaztic Ah... thanks for that little tid bit of useful information

  • I'd have to say the Canadian trio's took the cake at this show. Rush and The Tea Party showed the world how three people can blow the usual 4 or 5 off the stage.

  • I was there!!!!Awesome!

  • my favorite guitar riff from Moving Pictures is the riff right after the Limelight solo. It's such a fuckin amazing solo and to come out of it is just incredible.

  • i wana go to canada

  • RUSH IS THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD

  • Running washer and dryer in the backgrund? Whats up with that?

  • @mattcro0172

Geddy Lee runs his equipment straight to the the sound board. So he doesn't need a bass amp behind him, leaving empty space. He puts thinhs like washing machines and roast chicken spits behind him as a joke.

  • @DoomMAn9 Well actually just no speaker cabinets. He uses preamps and poweramps still.

  • Geddy Lee can play the bass very loud, he doesn't need amps, so he put some washing machine to the stage.

  • Toronto does rock for sure, so does Rush, the best band comes from the best city !

  • He uses a lot more guitar distortion in this version. That is the way my band plays it. Just a little heavy.

  • My ringtone is the Freewill intro, I let it ring too :-)

  • The guitar intro to Limelight is my ringtone, I usually just let it play..........

  • Rush is the only reason, why its good to live here.

  • @mindaugas496 What about Ricky, Julian and Bubbles?

  • 3 people prefer Nickelback

  • @ultimatestudios45: Although Rush did tap into rap- 'Roll The Bones'. But it was cool.

  • CANADA!!!!!!

  • I favorited this video before it was over.

  • @youkids123 I favorited this video before it even existed.

  • @fetchy15 i favorited this video before rush existed!

  • @mattymanten That is not possible, Rush created the universe. Before Rush, there was nothing.

  • @fetchy15

You and *mattymanten* are like Bob and Doug McKenzie !

    "Beauty, eh?"

  • Woulda look at that! Playin a kick ass rock show and doing their laundry all at the same time!

  • the ONLY good band from Canada!!! The BEST band in the universe!!!

  • @fetchy15 and @tempelguitar1998 The dryers are there as a total joke-Geddy later said that he uses them for the "warm, dry tone". He also has used rotisserie chicken machines (complete with chickens) and fully stocked vending machines in place of amps it's nothing to do with acoustics!

The reason he doesn't have amps onstage is because he has a rack of pre- and post- amps hooked to his bass which then go through the PA system. Also bass amps are usually MUCH bigger than a similar guitar amp!!

  • Just wanted to thank the good folks up North for producing such a great band like Rush...

  • @copyman1986

You're welcome my brother in the South

  • @copyman1986 and thank you

  • @copyman1986 your welcome! I was born on the same street as neil piert!!!!!!

  • @PHatxObesityxGaming who's Neil Piert?

  • @Haloplayer20 WHO'S NIEL PIERT?.....HOW DARE YOU

  • @bernardgreen2112 i've never heard of a Niel Piert, and whoever he is, he has nothing to do with Rush

  • @copyman1986 rush is great..but quit groveling a-hole. canada still has some splainin to do.

  • Neil Peart runs to his drum kit. what a fuckin amazing musician.

  • You know how they say you should see a doctor if you have a boner for more than 4 hours, well I had a boner for 12 hours that day

  • I have seen them 3 times at SPAC. Incredible concerts.

  • where was this concert at

  • @trucboss Toronto, Canada.

  • Whats with the dryers in the back of the stage? wtf

  • @tempelguitar1998 Its because alex has his amplifiers behind him so geddy decided to put dryers as a joke

  • @fetchy15 Cool... so where are Geddy's amps :P

  • @tempelguitar1998 he uses a smaller one since he plays bass

  • @tempelguitar1998 geddy's bass goes though the mixing board

  • what a great concert but insanely hot in the sun.

  • They should have started the concert with Cannada National Anthem, Tom Sawyer.

  • @POLARBEARNOPENGUIN

    Very cool comment, well said.

  • @POLARBEARNOPENGUIN i thought the canadian national anthem was, "we are the losers". hmmm...or maybe it was, "we suck mega ass" or "we're france's little bitch".

  • @drumphuk Never heard of those songs, link me up >.> asshole

  • @POLARBEARNOPENGUIN asshole! are you gettin me cornfused with your dad again? hows about i link you up with my foot up your canuck ass! maybe you heard about the latest top ten hit aboot canada, it's called,"we wanna be like America". but...you can't and never will, cause your tryin too hard to be french and british...bitch. oh hell..i guess i'm bein a little too hard on ya...much like your mamma when the fat pig is slobbin my knob...bitch.

  • @drumphuk Last time I checked I live in The United States... And if you hate Canada so much why do you like Rush?

  • @POLARBEARNOPENGUIN Rush..is one of the best bands out there! i actually like canada, i'm a little hard on her sometimes, but it's a cool place...really. now you, mother-fucker, you piss me off!so..shut yer face, learn who your betters are and send your mamma back in to finish polishing "mr. happy", then if yer lucky, i'll blow my load down yer throat..bitch.

  • neil pert looks has a stonewall jackson face

  • 4:18 LOOK AT ALL THE SMOKE OVER THE CROWD AHAHAHAHA :P

  • kayyy so im in there somewhere :D

  • im 12 and rush is my favorite band so shure i talk to my friends at school but not a single one of them like rush i just talk about it and thre thinking shut up im listening to some computerrized sounding rap and hip hop music only few kids my age appreciate real classic music.

  • @ultimatestudios45 Don't worry about them. Keep on listening to Rush. We all went thru the same thing back in school. ( Thank God there was no rap yet!!) If you like Rush, you've got taste and know good music!! They're the best in the business- which is why they've been around for 40 years! Talk later!

  • @chiefbrody75

I think mentioning rap on a RUSH video is a criminal office !

  • @ultimatestudios45 Don't worry about them. Same thing when we were in school. Luckily, there was no rap yet!! You know good music. You like Rush, and they're the best in the business- which is why they've been around for 40 years!

  • Alex scared me

  • Alex Lifeson has such a wet tone!

  • One of the classiest rock bands ever and one of the best albums ever.

    ATVmidlands UK

  • i think alex lifeson is very misunderstood in the "rock n roll" guitar world. he plays true composition like david gilmore, flashy at some points but more about keeping a movement throughout the song, making the listener feel like he's going somewhere, instead of the van halen "look what i can do" guitarists that there are way too many of.

  • @myfairvanity

    Well said.

  • Oh it seems 3 people does not like music!

    REAL MUSIC!

  • @globinsa 3 dislikes are geddy, alex, and neil. Just kidding.

  • @globinsa 3 dislikes are geddy, alex, and neil. They weren't happy with their performance.

  • @Dawgmandede

    Maybe this.

Tough they're fucking awsome, with the possibility of getting better, no musician is ever happy with their performance! :P

  • Rush does not have JUST the best drummer ever.

    Rush has the best bassist.

Rush has the amazing best guitarrist ever.

And "Rush" has the greatest vocalist too.

Oh and do not forget the keyboard!

  • I love how Neil runs out to the drums, it's like watching Pete Rose run down to First Base after a walk...it just shows that you love what you do.

  • whats with the dryers on stage? somebody doing their laundry

  • @pooman320 ....About the dryers >>>>> Geddy is bit of a comic.... also is capable of playing minor league baseball ( he is as good at playing baseball as a musician). He is always asked " how does he get that dry, hard pressed bass sound....so....he places on stage Maytag clothes dryers for props instead of a stack of amps......At the end of the show's ....he opens up the dryers & tosses out Rush autographed shirts to the fans !

  • My Parrot is going Crazy Dancing to this song, She loves Rush almost as much as I do.

  • Neil messed up! I've never seen that! well.. once... bust still!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @snapascrew @bigjim10011 i don't blame them for missing a note or a drum roll or anything, this as in 2003 and they were still rusty from not playing these songs for a while, because of neils losses. but they are all good know :D

  • @kissfan004 this was in 2003.... and geddy missed a freewill high note. I saw them this year (2010) and he didn't miss it. Incredible!

  • Canada is so cool and Canadians are awesome. Makes me want to move there. Too cold though.

  • @bigjim10011 In toronto the winters are cold... the summers are hot, the springs are wet. it's a well rounded climate. The summers can get very hot... trust me.

  • what's up with the clothes being washed on stage. Did rush not get their laundry done before the trip?

  • @shtty17 Maybe the norwegian appliance rock band Hurra Torpedo forgot their equipment?

  • @shtty17 Trip? they live in Toronto lol.

  • Rush will live forever!

  • Comment removed

  • @50dcoop Well, Geddy Lee plays bass, not guitar.

  • got to agree that Geddy is impeccable!

and who are the 3 bastards who can't listen to good music?

    RUSH FOREVEEEEEER!!!!

  • geddy lee uses fender jazz bass since the beginning.......u can see in fly by night

  • @Arthurinnecco2007 Actually Geddy has used a few different basses. Fender Jazz, Fender Precision, Steinberger and Rickenbacker 4001 series. These have been used quite a lot but the Fender Jazz is Geds fave!! You can see the Steinberger on Signals and Grace Under Pressure music Vids.

    Peace

    Canada

  • Alex can get more music out of a PRS guitar than anyone else I have ever heard. The man is on everyone's top five guitar players list of all time. You can pick the other top four of your own list. Satriani, Neil Schon, Clapton, Les Paul are my other choices. What is your top five list You Tubers?

  • geddy 00:24 lol

  • @kissfan004 Unfortunately yes :(

He cant reach those high ones in Xanadu or the ones after solo in freewill properly anymore, so tragic!

  • my goodness alex! they won't start the song without you there's no need to run across the stage XD

but the song still kicks ass. i love rush!

  • @TahoeRocker LOL that was funny, he ran like a 4 year old.

  • alex's guitar is a little untuned, no biggie.

  • Saw these guys on the 7th and they fucking ROCKED!!!!

  • What's up with the washing machines?

  • @iantonio they do it as a spoof because bands have big ass amps so every tour they do something different, last year i think it was vending machines.

  • @iantonio Geddy doesn't use an amp on stage. He plugs directly into the sound board. The washing machines (dryers?) are there to take up the space. It's humor.

  • Great post!

    Awesome band!

  • how many peaple there? 250 thousand??

  • @francky101

    500 thousand!

  • @francky101 a little less than half a million, 400-450 if I remember correctly (which I may not)... and I was about 50 feet from the stage. no kidding there was probably a mile of people behind me.

  • Sounds like Alex missed his Echoplex at the end of his solo...It's ok...Rush is the shit to say the least

  • Hey Morganizer. Geddy is such a total god that he doesn't need a 'backline' of amps/cabinets on stage. He plugs his bass directly into the PA system. So where his amps would be he sticks a bunch of tumble driers (a roadie comes on during the gig and changes the loads!) or vending machines. Brilliant song, brilliant band!

  • This song ROX! my fave part it from 0:00 to 4:58 . My least fave is at 4:59

  • Laundry music = elevator music FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL.

  • YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. Can't wait till July 13th. I'm going to the Time Machine Tour at the MOLSON AMPHITHEATRE!!!! OOH yeah yeah, wow yeah, wo ooh YEAH!!!

  • what 2 cunts voted the video down?

  • @kissfan004 It's a matter of not abusing shit. Look at Bruce Dickinson, for instance. He still sounds incredible even after all these years.

  • @PindleofKujata bruce who?

    RUSH mothefuca

  • @skunkyfreemarcemery Bruce Dickinson, if you're not being a troll, is the lead singer for Iron Maiden.

  • Just a reminder: RUSH - are from TORONTO, not Montreal or Vancouver. Thanks for lovin' our local boyz!

  • whasing machines?

  • was that Dan Ackroyd announcing?

  • @nurbSoldier

Yes, that was Dan the man. He made a great host an MC. :)

  • is this a festival or just a concert?

  • @Paraflash it was a festival with the Rolling Stones headlining and very special guests AC/DC then Rush and a load of others.

  • @tgrules565

omg thats how i imagine the olymp ^.^

  • I blew out my fucking eardrums at a Rush concert.

  • April Wine should of been at this concert to since it is in Canada.

  • This is so awesome!! I could watch it all day and into next week.. think i will!

  • Anybody know what Lee is doing when he keeps changing the dials on his bass? Is he just sound-checking or is there any specific sound?

  • @EliYBY when you become an advanced musician you try to achieve the best tone you can get, which is what hes adjusting the tone knobs for.

  • Why are there clothes dryers on stage?

I thought concerts were sponsored by Molson, not Maytag!

  • and you think you're tired...

  • Excellent. They've come a long way since the early gigs with Bill McConnell.

  • sick solo!

  • Geddy Quote "Those who WIkipedia" long along walked your footprint in the sands in Zion. moved to bohemia, asked bobby dylan asked the lyrxst rants. Thru the endless rant alone.

  • "Limelight" is an awesome song for Rush to perform, so I'm not surprised to hear them perform it live at every show that they do, so I think that "Limelight is in awesome song because of that, and I grew up listening to it, witch makes perfect sense to me.

  • endquote but a the stage is a shaking in 2010. Too bad aztecs and dying races clenched the universal truth: Contant change is here to stay".

  • Man I wish I still lived in Canada.

  • we are pretty great

  • iamzach4321: I heard that too !! But recently Geddy has swapped out the clothes dryers for. . .not kidding. . .3 stacks of chicken roaster rotisseries. Half way thru the show, somebody comes out on stage and "bastes" the chickens. . .Pretty funny lookin'. . .

  • One of the best solos on the planet!

  • When the solo kicks in it fucking amazing.

  • was there, brings back memories :)

  • Geddy's voice rocks here. He sounds 80's! Rush forever!

  • @reason51111111 Good observation- voice does sound like 80's a lot

  • @reason51111111 BTW what bass guitar is this- super sound

  • @india54for10 He uses a Fender Jazz bass.

  • @Mu4dD1b15 thanks , what has he been using for time machine tour , the Fender Jazz right?

  • @india54for10 I'm pretty sure. I'd be more sure if I had been able to see them at summer fest. darn friends and work.

  • @Mu4dD1b15 Alright. I also missed them this time. I have followed sound bytes of recorded by fans of the last tour. I am really surprised that the bass tone is quite different here than that in the time machine tour. Any theory as to why the overall bass guitar tone of time machine is different from that in this video?

  • Damn, look at the audience. Excellent.

  • Look at all the people :O

  • @Immortalbus almost 500 000 ppl there x)

  • come on, if he's that good, go and replace Geddy, I wanna see him in front of all Toronto singing like Geddy! hehehehe

  • honestly, i can't imagine any man in his 50s with Geddy's tones, really awesome... It's the most accurate voice that i have ever heard... cheers for him

  • indeed

  • i got electroshocked tryin play bass with the washing machine. Moral: i suck. just geddy lee can do that.

  • The best of the best song of the Rush. I´m sorry the others.

  • this is a really godd song i only started listening 2 them last month

  • @5mileyrox5 good! listen 2 the permant waves, grace under pressure, fly by night, rush, moving pictures, and snakes and arrows albums 2 start off

  • @Nonah1223 Eh, Fly-By-Night? Really? The first two albums are pretty bland. Working Man and Finding my Way are the only good ones off of the first one, and Fly-By Night, from the second on (don't care for By-tor.)

Everything else is great, though their instrumentals besides Strangiato/Where's My Thing and Limbo suck. (Yes,I hate Commercial music, so YYZ is overplayed, thus I got tired of it.)

  • @GangstaLink I think The Main Monkey Business is one of their best instrumentals.
