  • Is it just me or are all of the bad guys black in this game?

  • awesome music! and much better than nes or any other console, such a shame about the bugs.I remember i had it and i dont think it even worked

  • @NeverAgain1985

I had this game for the C64 ... could never beat it because of the bugs, but the music is the one thing I thought was excellent about this game, as well.

  • yeah I remember beating level 2 and saying the same thing about the timing!!

  • What kind of bugs are in this game???

  • Were can i get an mp3 of the in game music? :D

  • damn that beats smooth BD

  • This is literally like 100X better than the apple II version.

  • Well done! But it was abnormally hard! I wonder if it was really tested, I was never able to go beyond the first level. Now I could, thanks!

  • The music was a surprise when I loaded this game on my real C64, I had to crank up the volume! :-)

  • Love that music!

  • The glitchy level was merely a preview of the sequel movie's drug trip Nuke ;)

  • An Complete

  • God your good...i used to be able to get to the glitchy level as a kid then I gave up as I couldnt see where the fuck to go. Awesome port, best version of this game by far!

  • best retro music ever in a game!!

  • EPIC ! amazing music :)

  • I miss those yers too. I don't know why. Seeing these videos makes me feel good. I got me an emulator and played some games. Why do I have to be nostalgic. For One thing I didn't see much errors in the game. Never could play this game so good. I am thinking even of geting this old joystick for PC Competition pro to bring up memories. Thanks to all who keep this memories alive... Greetings from Slovenia.

  • @misekmoj Old Games are great :)

  • meraviglioso....

  • and on and on and on and on and ariston.

  • @Simon0 HA HA! i just said the same thingh on another robocop vid! i really thought i was tho only one who remembered the tune was on a washing machine ad! top bloke lol

  • that crappy graphics after killing big robot was only in pirate version ?

  • @vprmn : No; as the text at the beginning of the vid states, ALL of the store bought copies of the game contained that buggy level. I can attest to that - I have a store bought copy - same crappy graphics happens very time.

  • @koop3211 Hiya I think that was another Robocop game with the light gun pack bundle with the Commodore 64 - I remember I had too.

  • Jonathan Dunn is so under-rated it's unbelievable.

I have this as my ring tone, and when someone calls me in the supermarket I get some funny looks, but I just say "Do not be alarmed, civilian!"

  • The music is fuckin ace

  • LOVE THAT FUCKING MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well done mate! Brings back memories

  • had good artwork on the title screen of robo for an old machine.

  • Thanks for showing me this. Now that I know how to beat that level with a glitch I must give it a go.

  • This isnt a robo"COP", its a robo"SLAUGHTERER"

  • crime are for niggaz ^^

  • God i miss those good old days. C64's and Spectrums, all the crazy games. I still remember going into the games shops and being able to buy a new game for £1.99.

  • Great music and graphics. Notice they had to use software rendering for the shots - no more resources in VIC II (or progs out of them...). As for that messed up graphics - download the hacked update... Audio visually far ahead of Spectrum version. As for the gameplay, I think Speccy Robocop is more addictive - better pacing, more shots, more kills simply more fun...

  • Man that intro music gives me the chills. Oh, how I miss those days.

  • the best game ........THX

  • I loved the menu music so much. I remember trying over and over again to beat the stupid warehouse level. Obviously nobody did any testing back in those days.

  • hoooooooooly crap does this bring back memories, especially the music hahaha

  • 0.28 - Wobocop!!!

  • I used to play it a lot as a kid, but my version was messed up and always froze after beating the fisrt level.

  • Fake! Robocop can't jump!

  • this is the first game i played when i was 5yrs old. damn its seems a lifetime ago

  • Holy crap that brings back memories. But only of the first level. Never knew there were more levels... I thought it was such a bad game I didn't care to play it.

  • I never knew about the glitch, so I always ran out of time on that stage, so now I know! I used the 'DISAPPOINTED' cheat to get to the last few sections when I couldn't beat that level and was able to finish the rest of the game. I must say, however, that it possibly had the worst ending of any game I've finished.

"Well Done Murphy" that's it? Depressing.

  • i find that games from this era tended to having shockingly disappointing endings :(

  • Despite the great music, and the opportunity to mow down hundreds of men wearing chinos... Terrible game :/. Nice graphics... Even if it looks more like 80s Miami than Detroit.

  • its interesting the graphics mode they used for this game. seems like hi res using colors

  • This game was IMPOSSIBLE- I too took advantage of that glitch, but Ed-209 massacred me every time.

  • I have just sang the tune to the office, who all said "Why are you doing Beat It by Michael Jackson?". They are morons.

  • C64.. ahhh. those years.. 1991 :) I want it back

  • @Tombaaa86

    I want it back too!

  • It's been years since I played this, but I thought the C64 version had ED-209 at the end of the first level, like all the other versions?

  • I have been humming this tune for years and not quite sure where I had heard it now it all comes flooding back.

  • LOL I knew where the tune came from but I've still been humming it for a LONG LONG time.

  • I remember I bought this on tape in '88, for about the equivalent of $4 or something, hehe. I love the music, but the actual gameplay... Well..

  • Thinking about it, this game must have been where I got the idea to see RoboCop when I was 9 years old. A lot of C64 games based on mega violent films had the advertisement "See The Movie On VHS Today!". I remember conning my Mom to rent it for me and my little freinds, that afternoon was quite a memorable one after we saw ED-209 chop a man up with a machine gun.

  • LOL. I hope she thinks you grew up to be ok!

  • You and I come from similar cloth bro.... hehe ;) It was "Last House On The Left" for me though... and at 10.

  • This game had some kick ass music- but you had to sacrifice the sound fx to hear it. What other game made you do that! Well, besides other games by Ocean... This game i found to be near impossible, but kept playing to hear the tunes.

  • amazing music! shite game! wasted so many hours on this a youth.

  • I wish that this theme whas played at the robocop movies from 1 - 3 when robocop is outside and walks. And the robocop theme at the movie when it's action like it now.

  • All the bad guys are black..... HAHAHAHHAHAH.....

  • Hahah i used to do that wall glitch when i used to play it on the old c64!

    lol,fun days haha!

  • I never knew how to get by that wall. I used to think my game was screwed up. Months and months I tried finding away around the wall or shooting it.

  • I remember this being very bug-ridden.

  • man wow i have play the game i was 6 great

  • man i luv the music in this game brings back memories

  • The warehouse level WAS possible without cheating, but you needed luck to finish it thanks to the tough time-limit, and random placement of enemies.

The ED-209 fist fight was the real beeyatch though - completely ruined the game beyond the warehouse level.

  • jeez that music bring old memories...

  • Like it was Yesterday :( :)

    Great game,great music.. :)

  • The music on the C64 version kicks ass, shame the actual game isn't as good as on the Zx Spectrum or Amstrad CPC.

  • I,ve beat the atrari st version. THe music is anoying though.

  • I had this game as a real young kid. Boy did it suck. The Warehouse level was impossible. This brings back a ton of memories though

  • I owned the CPC version of this game. I'm mortified to learn you can complete the game in 9 minutes...it took twice as long just to LOAD the darn thing!

  • actually the C64 had 4 channels. 4th channel was devoted to digital drums on this game.

Hence almost no SFX. I think you only got the game SFX if you played without music (made concentrating on the game lots easier!)

  • Actually the C64 had just 3 channels. A 4th channel could be faked by writing 4bits values to the volume control register at high rates (faking a sample channel). The downside is that it takes almost all the CPU time, and therefore isn't used for anything else than static screens.

  • The thing i cant figure out with this particular track, is wether the Percussion rhythm in the background is digitised or not.

The bass and snare definitely isnt, and so arent the melodies.

Ah just had an idea, listen compare the emulation of the 6581 version to 8580, and if it sounds lower on the 8580 i should be digitised!

  • Nope, none of it is digitised. It's all SID. ;)

  • Yeah sure is! i love those little sounds they got out of the sid using wavetables that you dont hear most synthesizers do!

  • great sounds

  • Jesus Christ. That ending is terrible! Makes me glad I didn't beat it.

  • ahh the gud ole ocean games.

  • I used to have this game, to look at it now, it's hard to imagine how good the graphics seemed way back then.

and it used to take about 20 minutes to load off the casette

  • the music has a cool beat and you can dance to it

  • Awsome music in this game. I was surprised they didn´t use the theme song like in all other Robocop games.

  • Same here. BTW, what happened to the gun SFX and other in-game SFX? Again great music, it's just that the C64 didn't have enough sound channels for SFX for this game, or SFX would have slowed the game down a bit.

  • C64 only had 3 channels (I think), so it wouldn't have been possible to have sound fx without the music cutting out, but you did have the choice of music or fx at the beginning of the game but I think it's safe to say the music wins! :)

  • I think that´s it. It would have cut the music out. They made a choise and I think they choose right.

  • cool music

  • Man, someone needs, i repeat, 'needs' to do a friggin remix of this shit rite here, lol.

  • lol when the guys die...they blow up...what kind of gun Robocop equip with, good God man where you shoot someone and they blow up into nothing..on the game it just looks like a pea shooter. No, with all kidding aside, I liked this game...I had tons of C64 games and this was one of my fav. Peace out~~

  • AHHH! on the c64 you can jump where you cant on the speccy version. The sid chip saves this version's pride against the speccy version

  • gotta love the music =)

  • That 3rd level was impossilbe on the original tape version. I could never get past that level, dispite being able to walk all through that level and not stop. the time always ran out as I got to the door at the end.

  • Bloody hell! ST graphics!

  • Not a patch on the Spectrum version, which was black and white, but playable (the 128K music was almost as good, too)

  • That's the end sequence? How did they have the nerve? My commiserations that you actually had to fight to see that... I have many happy memories of the C64, none involving this game (I never got past the glitchy level, and I was even cheating).

  • (actually was level 3..)

  • I remember down didnt work on my joystick. I could never pass the second level casue I couldnt walk down the stairs! (until i got a new joystick that worked)

  • I didn't see Dick Jones get shot, though at the end. But it still gave a good ending when the time ran out. That's weird.

  • this game is older than you retard !

  • Hee hee! I shouldnt laugh...

  • i meant to reply that to Supadon101 s response to ScottProman. Oh well..

  • This game looks like ass.

  • "see the blockbusting movie now avaliable on video" 80's rulez:)

  • cool

  • I knew this game was f***ing broken! I used to get stuck on the same level every time and it was inpossible to get past it. I spent days tryin to figure that s**t out. What a waste of time!

  • Same with me. I figured there was a problem somewhere. That pisses me off learning this. Loved the music, though.

  • IVE GOT THAT GAME!!!!

  • I could dance to this tune, catchy

  • Jonathan Dunn, a very good musician with the SID (maybe not as good as Rob Hubbard or Jeroen Tel, but the works on Robocop, Platoon and Renegade III are great... look for HVSC on Google)

  • Robocop 2, 1 level away from the final Kane-as-Robocop-2 fights, Nintendo Entertainment System.

    Same music. Brings back familiar memories...^_^;;

  • omigosh, i remember this game. Nice job! The music....it's all coming back to me :P

  • SWEET TUNES!;)

  • i remember the cheat, hold fghj together and walk forward. jesus....where did that come from? :)

  • Hahahaha...it popped to my mind also as soon as the video started!!! FREAKY!!! IDDQD , IDFKA ! You remember this, and forget your wife`s birthday :D

  • My game was so glitched, that I was invincible, I was unable 2 get hurt, it was great but I couldn't beat the damn factory level because I was lost lol!!

  • just follow the stairs

  • By the way, you can walk thru the very first wall in that stairs level (sometimes). That was the only way we could get through; this was way too hard without exploiting the glitch.

  • Yep, walking thru walls and garbled graphics. I spent a lot of time on that game, seriously. My dad actually mailed the game to Ocean requesting a working copy or a refund. Always just got the package back. Thank you for this vid. I really appreciate it.

  • Gawd...they really took the proverbial with that "ending"...

  • just wrong

all the bad guys are black

    *cough* racist*cough*

  • But in the 80's there was no white criminals I suppose :D

The game featured even the continuous bullet time - far ahead of it's time.

  • It's raining men!

  • coño, que buena música. Mejor que la version Amstrad.

  • Great vid.

Shame about the garbled graphics on one of the stages though.

Was that a bug all versions suffered from ?

  • Yep, the broken graphics in level 2 was an serial bug.

  • What a bummer Ocean !

I used to have the tape version from the Hollywood Collection and vaguely remembers this now.

I thought my tape was screwed but now I know otherwise.

  • @DerSchmu

Oh hell yeah. And I always thought it was just my bad luck.

  • that music started to piss me off

  • Wow that game sucked. I kept getting jammed on the stairs in the warehouse level...

The original arcade version was great though.

  • oh for god shake, that blacks has bad history doesn't make them different from whites. Or aren't they humans? I have seen same reaction when animals are hurted.

  • thats not true. The guy in the face identifying was white. lol.

  • "Riot in the ghetto, supress the mob." - what a racist robot.

  • Robocop was a racist robot, look at all of the brothas he's shooting.
