  • the southern pacific unit is great!!!

  • One of the best N Scale Layouts I have seen, Not to mention, This is based in the area right down the road from my house in Gillette, Wyoming. Although I like Norfolk Southern, I do respect BNSF & Union Pacific, and have watch them roll down those rails time after time and have enjoyed it. Great Job my friend, Where are you located, I would love to visit sometime if it is all possible. Thanks, Rob

  • Thanks for the note Rob. I sold the layout about 2 years ago to another great N scale enthusiast to begin my Marias Pass project. I am from Nebraska, hence the passion for both UP and BNSF and hauling black diamonds.

  • I love the layout. I went to your blog.. great job there too. I'm working on going back to N scale from O gauge Lionel. What brand and type of track did you use for this layout? I really like how it looks!

  • all code 55 rail. The wood ties are Atlas, the concrete ties are Micro Engineering.

  • @NscaleAddict Do you make your own switches? I would like to see a video of that?

  • The switches are all Atlas code 55, mostly #10's, but a few #7's also.

  • Excellent layout and video. Keep up he good work and i hope to see more videos in the future.

  • I would to see an overview of the entire layout if possible

  • @floydfanTN

I have some photos of the layout on my blog. The layout was also featured in the Jan/Feb 2011 issue of N Scale Railroading.

  • @NscaleAddict I have a hard time believing this is only 4x10. I'll check it out.

  • Really liked the weathering on your locos and running stock.

  • I have always liked simple track plans without a lot of track crammed into a small space. In addition I like broad curves for a more realistic appearance. I typically run 7' to 8' trains on my 4x10 layouts. It's enough to look decent, but not long enough to look out of place. It really all depends on what you prefer. Double track is nice for running two trains at the same time, but I also enjoy the single track main on my Marias Pass which forces me to hold a train in a siding.

  • Awesome I love it! Very Nice Detail. Can you give any tips to a budding N Scaler? I have a 4x8 layout and would like to know what i can get away with in therms of train length and operations. I model the BN ATSF and a little BNSF.
