  • What sucks is that my high school is STILL using Vista....personally, I'd prefer they with to Mac, but AT LEAST Windows 7!! Even my elementary school has Windows 7!

  • My rant is that ur camra sucks

  • windows 7 is by far the better and faster, so stfu and get windows 7 geek boy

  • @moewishaw Win7 came out in 2009, this was made 2008.

  • fuckin geek. get windows 7

  • @moewishaw Look at the date dummy

  • Vista Business x64 is the best of all the Vistas!

  • Windows Vista's majour downfall was also the fact that Microsoft was experimenting with a new, database-like files system, but transferred back to the standard NTFS, when that happened much of its bugs still transferred over too. Much of the compatibility issues were also caused by the files system testing. However, with the Service Pack 2 update, everything is rather stable, so I still run Windows Vista Ultimate on my main desktop, and Win 7 Ult. on other one.

  • Microsoft have improved Windows Vista with service packs for the people who wish to keep Windows Vista. Also since Microsoft are changing Windows so that it works better on older machines now (Windows 7 and soon 8) shows that they care. Windows 8 is supposed to set it self up according to your hardware so that it runs fluently :)

  • windows vista runs bad on a weak computer BUT BUY A GOOD ONE!!!! with like 4GB of ram and a quad core like mine and vista runs as fast as 7 I have a slow computer and a fast computer vista will not work on a slow computer only on fast ones.

  • I have never had any problems with vista and like it better than windows 7 as I find it faster and have never had problems but I have a really good computer.

  • Windows Vista. The biggest joke in computer history. Our kids will read about the Epic fail that was Vista in their history books...

  • Comment removed

  • @paulph12002 I don't get why your comment was removed, perhaps Chris was a big ME fan. Anyway, In my opinion, I'm starting to kinda think Microsoft is a huge fail altogether considering what all the other OS's are capable of these days. Microsoft needs to just clean the slate and start fresh and build an OS on a stable foundation. My Windoze 7 computer still freezes and crashes for no reason and I barely go on the internet with it, I just play games. Its stupid. I use OS X now, and its awesome.

  • My favorite Chris Pirillo video hands down.

  • They just add a whole bundle to Vista, that's why Vista weren't that compatible. They probably forgotten about compatibility, like Windows 95 or 98, which still has the VxD.

  • Vista ain't that bad anymore.

  • so, out of anger, due to crashes that i experience whenever i update my windows vista(+ other factors), i slammed shut my qosmio laptop and surprised i didn't break it. the cool thing about that is that i found out that my laptop isnt that fragile, but, my OS is. i don't know, but i just lost my trust and enthusiasm in windows anymore.

  • vista was an early version of windows 7

  • hey, everytime i open my computer i see a message says windows genue something like that i need help to update windows vista. if you can help me please responed.

    thank you.

  • @winterseasonLA google win7vista and download a activator!enjoy!

  • vista looks pretty, but i don't have a dvd drive so :(

  • He is more upset than me LOL no wait I am more upset than him LOL today 2012 I found my unused copy of windows ultimate vista and the price that I pay for it... OMG Can I sued Microsoft.... The only good ting that came out of that episode for me was that I purchase and IMAC and have never had problems with my computing endeavors ever. GET A MAC...

  • I have a PC, and don't even use windows

  • amen brother vista is shite

  • i don't know why people complain about vista...is like vista was the ugly child of the family. i've been running vista 4 years now and not a single problem...maybe vista don't let geeks hackin' things so that's a bad thing in their minds...is like the apple people no matter how expensive or crappy they will always like apple..same with geeks don't like vista so they complain...!

  • @wrabit79 people are complaining because it doesn't work for most of us! it may have worked for you, but many, many, many other people (myself included) have had serious problems. Vista was incredibly unstable, didn't handle drivers well, lacked support for a large range of hardware, it was a memory hog, and it was sloooooooow...

  • a pretty hot wife...go chris

  • Wow, this is one angry computer geek. I think he needs to get layed.

  • @hang10jerry You do know he has a wife.

  • I use Linux. Seriously guys: It is no more a pain in the ass than Windows. Go try, it's free.

  • Hm..... 2001 to 2007..... ME and Vista.... So that's about 6 years technically but about 5 years literally... What do you think will happen in 2012 or 2013, if anything? XD

  • After 2 years I think that for most of your opinions you have been proven right. MS lost its community (If there was any kind of community). Google and a little company called Canonical (Ubuntu Linux) + Apple are emerging companies in the desktop platform.

  • Even though Windows 7 is out, I'm still switching to Mac. Microsoft was too lazy to fix a problematic OS, so they covered it up with another. I just don't get it, plus I like Mac OS X more.

  • Honestly, if 7 didn't come out, I would have switched to mac by now. :/

  • I gotta laugh at some of you idiots. You really don't have any idea what you're talking about. The biggest issues with Vista were mostly ironed out 6 months after release, if not completely by SP1. Yes UAC can be a hassle sometimes, but when I read some of these comments.."Vista won't let me delete something". Why are you trying to delete something that requires elevated privileges? If you're that stupid, you shouldn't even have a computer. UAC doesn't even appear for most day to day activities.

  • @FrozenEclipse well...tbh...Windows Vista has way too many versions out. Quality is better than quantity. I have ran Windows 7 on a much lower spec PC, and also vista on the same PC. My conclusion was of course Windows 7 was much faster on file transfers, memory management and multi tasking or multi threading.

People don't realise though that Vista was a rushed product on launch day, and Windows 7 is based on the vista engine, just revamped, what it should of been lol

  • @FrozenEclipse I have to agree with you. Here's my point of view, if your PC has a BSOD, before saying

'vista is shit, i never got one on XP'......

fucking analyze the memory dump files or go to an online tech support forum and ask them to analyse them for you, from what ive seen online, its usually caused by a driver/incompatible program issue, upgrade/unsintall the driver, and then no more BSOD.....simples. Dont just blame the OS

  • @FrozenEclipse Im not saying vista is the best, but if you run vista on 1gb or lower....yes, it will probably be slow...lol, if you dont check that you have compatible hardware.......yes you will have an issue........If you don't see that UAC is there to help protect your pc harmful against processes that will use your admin credentials to execute.....it will be ''annoying'' to you.

  • Im gunna try the vista versions here.

Vista Starter= bunch of crap. nothing on it

Vista Home Basic=No aero but added features from starter. its for slower pc's

Vista Home Premium= Has Aero , media center ect

Vista buisness. Ehh the one for buisnesses..

Vista Ultimate= The full shabang of vista. dreamscene file encription ect

Basically Vista Home Premium is the one to go for.

  • i tried deleting something on my vista and it says.."you need permission deleting this program" WHAT THE HELL NEVER GET VISTA

  • Vista sucks, Windows 7 is ok, Get Linux!

  • @JeffTheComputerGeek I agree with you. Typing this in Ubuntu 10.10, installed after Vista stopped detecting my mouse!

  • i hate vista

  • GO VISTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GEEK

  • Go NT!

    jk #LOL

  • i love Vista

  • @Dell0304 That's a little messed up..

  • @4runnerOfTheFuture i have the right to like whatever OS i choose.

  • i hate vista....

    i sucks frickin crap.

IT WONT LET ME DO ANYTHING

how can YOUR system stop YOU, THE OWNER, from doing stuff? it makes no sense.

  • @aftermathmovieslite WindowsVistaMan14 wants to leave a comment Continue or Quit (UAC) LOL

  • link is not in description

  • whats the link for the article?

  • Windows 7 got it right MS had a beta version and gave us the opportunity to give feedback, nice one MS.

  • windows vista and the xbox 360 came out around the same time and were two big fuck ups xD

  • @manfromhell1234 Vista, yes. 360, no. I still use my 360, and it's hella fun.

  • For lower then vista premium you cant upgrade free to 7. So only the basic kinda suck :P...

  • I hate you.

  • the ONLY good thing about vista 4 me was the theme. so i just patched my uxtheme.dll file and installed a vista theme on xp and BOOM perfection. lolz. now ive moved on from xp to 7 and <3 it sooooo much

  • People don't understand the most basic component of the computer...and chris said it numerous times. its all about the community.

without it there is nothing but frustration.

  • Answering without looking it up... Windows Vista Ultimate extras, more security, and different business things added.

Home Basic: No Aero Glass, no media center. (That's all I can remember)

    Business: No games.

  • I'm running Linux and Windows 7 now... Vista was to slow...

  • @maw88ify same here

  • @maw88ify really? my copy is fast

  • fuck vista, buy 7

  • @1MikePappa1 or Mac OS X...... XD

but Seven is pretty good !!!

  • @1MikePappa1 notice how this was filmed in 2008 and 7 dint come out untill 2009

  • Toshiba does the same thing to there customers too. Most of witch was an error on their part, not Microsoft's, after the windows 7 upgrade came I swapped my vista HDD out with a western digital HDD to find their HDD was causing the problem to begin with. So be very careful as to what products you buy.

  • Without looking at differences. Windos Vista Home Basic is the only edition that doesn't have Aero.

  • whats the point of even having vista without aero that was the only reason i was using it lol then later upgraded to 7

  • Vista pretty much was the Beta for Windows 7

  • yea pretty much

  • 00:48 -- Windows ultimate comes in 64 bit and has the slideshow wallpaper

  • @Flashuploads: *ALL* of them come in 64-bit and 32-bit.

  • Here's how Windows feels about feedback:

"The Windows Feedback program is by invitation only. If you are interested in joining, please send email to winpanel(AT)microsoftCom with the subject "Notify me for future enrollment".

'We don't want to hear from the prole. Send us an e-mail for the privilege of sending us feedback. And wipe your feet.'

  • why go for windows 7? try linux.

  • As soon as I get my free copy of Windows 7, I am leaving Vista FOREVER. Good riddance.

  • I HAVE BEEN USING VISTA ON TWO DIFFRENT COMPUTERS FOR TWO YEARS I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM OMG PEOPLE ARE JUST NOOBS AND DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THINGS AND IF YOU HAVE COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM GET NEW STUFF INSTEAD OF USING OLD HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE OR W/E YOU ARE USING learn to upgrade...for real dont use shity old stuff buy new thing when i have bought stuff i buy up to date stuff and so maybe thats why i dont have any problems

  • Remember that not everybody can afford new stuff.

  • Is that because you bought it came assembled already installed with vista?

  • yea better then paying extra having to upgrade and yes i said upgrade

  • Grats, the few things you have purchased had drivers, not everything that everyone purchased did. And some did at least work, but did not have full features. This video is over a year old too. Right now Vista is bad, but it's not that bad. It's usable and ok and I can't knock on it too much. I'm just biding my time til 7 however.

  • its not so much the things that go wrong it more about the os

vista is allmost identical as windows xp. it moght aswell have been a skin for xp

  • i wonder wot Operating system lockergnome uses :)

  • I believe that his Windows OS is Windows Vista, and the other is Mac OS X.

  • lol he calls himself legendary...

  • lol what sucks is that my family (who doesn't know shit about computers) is about to get the computer fixed and they want vista still on the machine, we could get XP installed for free on there b/c the IT who does the job is a good friend of the family but the family thinks that b/c vista looks pretty that it's better, and it's like 5 against 1 so it's a losing battle

  • ok i watched this up to 9 seconds then decided ur fuckin boring and whiney

  • How the hell did you get over 18 mins

  • Hes a YouTube Parterner!

  • Get over it its time to do a video on Windows 7 because it rocks

  • Forget Vista it was a Beta Version of WIndows 7 which blows it away. Faster Interface most of the bugs are ironed out lovely way you can pin your programs to the super bar or even the start button. It doesn't hog memory like vista or resources. You can open up multiple windows and choose which one you want quite easily. Just get 7

  • bill gates even said vista sucks look it up!!

  • @YomorokaXD stupid shit ass son of a whore

  • Steve Ballmer seems like a douche... is he a douche? o.o

  • Windows... Makes me pop a vein each day.

  • VISTA FTW!!! I fully support Microsoft, i even hacked my ipod video 5g to run 3.x!!! I have vista on 5 of my 6 computers, one having XP3 soon to be upgraded to vista. I buy all of the best and greatest things from Microsoft. GO BILL!!

Yes, i am a fan-boy of Microsoft and Sony!!

  • My Friends is buying a vista. Im allways telling him vistas problems. but he dosent care. he said: Hey, vista rocks!

    100% Percents! Vista is awesome!

  • lol I believe ultimate has one more game ans sucks up 20% more ram.

  • Here is a couple of rants about Vista. I hate it when I insert a USB key It always goes 'Detecting new hardware' and spends ages thrashing the hard drive, before it mounts that USB key. Often taking over a minute to go through these actions.

Linux and OS X just mount that USB key within a matter of seconds.

And the other problem seems to be 'Calculating time to delete files'... WTF is that all about? Just bloody delete the files. It should only take a few seconds.

  • I hear you bro. And don't you love when you're trying to be a good boy and 'safely removing' a usb device, only to have Vista state: 'this device can't be stopped right now blah blah blah.'?

  • Oh frequently had that as well. Even had OS X do that trick on occasions, although not nearly as often as Windows. 'File is in use, disk can not be unmounted' or some such message, yet there is nothing obviously open.

  • does yours also seem to strain itself when opening a folder i swear mine spends time just thrashing the hard dive to bring up a thumbnail..if only i could find my XP install disk atleast until windows 7

  • Has anyone else noticed how much Chris resembles Steve Albini? Even his speech and mannerisms?

Focus the ire against Microsoft into ire against corporate music, devote energy into minimalist rock, and we've got doppleganger Albini!

  • hahahhaha :)

He has no idea of what is he talking about !

    You need realy some help...

  • Agreed, no idea what he is taling about but the fact he takes it so seriously is really funny !

  • there are plenty of differences between the different versions, such as the integrated features, max amount of ram (32bit all 4gb, 64bit home premium 16gb, ultimate 128gb)

  • I understand how you feel about Windows Chris, but I wouldn't feel sympathy for Microsoft. They have burned consumers more than once and not just on the OS side. What about the Xbox 360 and the RROD? There is also a lawsuit pending for that issue as well. They knowingly ship faulty products hoping that the latter of the community won't use enough of the advanced features of their products to notice these problems. I feel that this is the only language that they understand and will take seriously

  • I still have 95

  • @s8erboii3122 i dont believe it

  • @s8erboii3122

    I miss that OS...

  • Base problem is capitalism.

Just imagine if developers didin't HAVE to do windows drivers because it's more "profitable" and do linux isntead.

Yea, microsoft pays so Linux doesn't get in the way.

  • idk i just like vista better. seems faster. and its a laptop. had it for 1 year and it loads ways faster than my friends xp desktop.

  • why does everyone hate Vista?!?!?!?!?! i dont get it. i have vista and its fine, actually it's great FOR ME. XP is ok i guess. can someone tell me the diff?

  • try windows 7? then u will know why peoople hate vista

  • whats windows 7?

  • windows 7 is the successor of vista.. and some people call it the "new xp" because its soo revolutionary.. andyway.. you shouldd look it up.. microsoft is alowing you to download it and get a free product key

  • Same here! I mean, I've had mine for over, what? 8 months? Not a problem, AT ALL.

  • There was onnce two hack that found a bug in windows and told how to fix it to MS. They ignored the problem and said it didn't exist. the hackers had to make a application that exploits that bug put in on the net. To shame MS into fixing the problem.

  • Why would game developers care about the one person in linux

  • vista home premium 1000gb of hard drive elite pc w000t!

  • Chris was right!

MS listened to customers, and Win 7 is saved!

    And that says something!

  • yes it is, im using it right now :)

  • Why help them?! We, the public, have been raped by MS. They release BETA and we test it, then we thank MS for granting us updates?! The ONLY reason I need to buy MS products is so I can play my "Windows Games". As soon as a platform is developed by another company that supports popular games I will buy it exclusively. I can't believe the Linux community hasn't grabbed this opportunity by the balls. I guess the average Linux user isn't into gaming.

  • BTW, I have Windows 7 on my PC and, aside from a few graphical changes, is not much different than Vista.

  • Linux does support games. It is game developers who do not support Linux.

  • xp thats for me!!!! TY. for your Videos.I see the light....:>}

  • Vista wasn't ready i agree. People who got Vista had to spend months of downloading security updates

  • What's a throll?

  • learn to spell

  • get a life

  • remard66, Chris Pirillo is getting paid for doing this. And doing this geeky stuff is fun! I mean, you get paid to do what you love! How can life be any better???

    :P

  • sorry to hurt some feeling but if you don't know what atrholl is ....get a life ...and who ever support this guy ...you can do better ..so my advice stop watching poeple ranting about this or that and go out and try for yourself...that chris perrillo support it or not who reallycare ?

  • bla, bla, bla... The real problem with Vista is that MS is way too open with regard to release timelines, etc. Apple on the other hand keeps everything a secret. I don't blame MS totally, after all they released the beta, then the RCs, then the RTM over the course of a few years. If the hardware manufactures dropped the ball, what is MS to do? When MS put off the release date, they got flack over it - they're damned if they do, damned if they don't.

  • Look at the shit hes saying now compare to then ALL ABOUT HARDWARE SOFTWARE TOGETHER. Now its oh just get what you perfer after seeing mac prices not change on shitty hardware.

  • That was before the sideburns video

  • Except no software, crap hardware, overpriced systems for nothing, functionaility of an ipod touch and Steve job promise that it will just work all for 2000+ dollars.....get a clue.

  • Haven't had any problem with finding software, and all of the software I find holds a really high standard!

I tried to build a win pc (on a pick-your-own-parts site) with the same hardware specs as the imac on numerus occasions, that includes a SUPERB 24" screen but i always end up around the same price. (if not more expensive if I add all the software you need to do all you can do with a mac out of the box)

4GB of ram and 4GB of ram ain't always the same thing if you catch my drift.

  • Well as far as I know they use a B-brand memory in macs.

  • dunno what brand, could not find that info. But it is DDR3 clocked to 1067MHz. You can have all the ram in the would but without any speed it's worthless..

  • Well that isn't really the fastest ddr 3 around. And besides I prefer a own build computer with windows and linux on it, a lot cheaper and you don't have to pay an extra 249 euro's for 1 more year extra support "apple care". I prefer the 3 year or on some parts even lifetime with no extra cost

  • Have i ever stated that it is the fastest DDR3 around?

    "And besides I prefer..."

    Good for you!

  • dude it runs way faster than windows tho

  • Comment removed

  • XP = approximately 30 processes out of the box.

Vista = approximately 50 processes out of the box.

More threads eat up the CPU and don't leave you much processing power for your applications like games.

thus forcing the public to upgrade hardware in a time when they are in war debt and government slavery.

Microsoft is a one way street , wallstreet

  • Microsoft Customer Service also SUCKS BIG TIME.

The rep was talking to me like I was stupid or something.

  • this is pretty dumb

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VISTA!!

it is designed for newer computer so no sht it old programs might not work for it at first till these programs would updated themselves.

its like saying that the latest games are not as good as the old ones because your computer wont run them.

It is much more user friendly by protecting noobs from themselves and all these functions can be turned off.

the fact that you dont knw how to use it does not mean its no good.

  • Theres lots wrong with Vista.

I shouldn't have to upgrade an XP system just to get Vista. Microsoft's mission , to make you buy more hardWare upgrades.

F***, Bill, Microsoft Windows and Activation!!!

Linux has such locked down security compared to Windows, this is just awesome. Hardly takes any system resources. You need Wine to run WindowsCrap.

  • no you shouldn't, Vista is designed for newer computers while your computer was designed to run XP.

the fact that you cant play the latest game it does not mean that the game sucks.

and yes Linux is better in many aspects but you cant use many programs on it. So if you want to have an OS that has little systems resource sure use Linux your system would realy if ever be run on it maximum capability.

if all u are going to do is use Open office and search the web any winnows can to that fine

  • An Operating System is an Operating System, it should run on older and newer systems too.

You don't sound like an expert, because I've been able to run quite a few Windows Programs. The only time where I wasn't able to run something is if its a Program like a Windows-Based Anti-Infection. Either than that I can live without Windows.

Stupid Microsoft, Stupid Activation, Stupid Rep's.

Plus the fact that iMac gives you 5-licenses for 5-iMacs. Microsoft only gives you 1-license for 1 -Computer

  • no it does not have too.

Vista was designed knwing that newer computer are much more capable so they put alot of extra features to make it look good as well as safety features and others.

y would the average person need more than one license? all computer come with on or more.

the only time one would need more than one license is if they have build their machine. If you did that and Vista didnt ran well its because you didnt build it right to run vista.

  • im sorry are you fucking insane!!!!!!!

vista sucks fucking donkey dick i bought vista ultimate AND put it on a brand spanking new machine with 3 gbs of ram and a dual core with 256 mb graphics card. it still sucked fucking ass. i have used windows 95,98,me,2000,xp vista and am now on the release candidate of windows 7, and i must say vista is too bloated even with sp1, and it does not know how to utilize the full potentail of your graphics card. and constant use causes vista to sometimes fail.:(

  • i dont knw what your situation is but everyone that i knw likes it and i liked it too when i tried it. I still run xp cause i dont want to waste my money buying a new OS when mine is just fine.

y did you buy it? didnt ur computer come with an OS?

im not familiar with the GPU situation u r talking about but i knw Vista has a new better way to utilize ur ram.

  • the pc came with home premium and i thought in upgrading it. and just because you didnt come across a problem dosnt mean that its fine. vista is one of the worst operating systems ever built. needing 2gbs of ram to make it run smooth is insane. and dont insult my intelligence by saying it utilizes ram better. Please.!!!!! Ive worked in I.T. for 9 years and its the most bloated piece of shit i ever seen. but on the plus side it looks pretty. lol.

  • given that most computers that would come with such an operating system would have more then 2 gigs its really no problem

and vista does infact have a better way of utilizing ur ram. It learns your habbits and pre loads data to the ram so that it wont need to do it later allowing for your applications to launch faster. it can also use any USB storage devices as ram.

yes it looks prety that is because windows wanted to be more competitive with the macs and linux which looked better the xp.

  • if you didnt like it the first time why did you piss away the money of an upgrade knwing well that windows editions are pretty much the same and their differences are minute.

sounds like you are having buyers remorse and not a real problem.

i dont even knw when was i insulting you intelligence but if you like to bitch y would u say that "im sorry are you fucking insane!!!!!!!" seems like an insult to me. I really dont care though.

  • Didn't like the foul language, but,

I'd have to say 2000 and XP were the best releases.

Linux a bit of a learning curve and depending on the Linux you choose. You should be a bit of a geek, if you want to use Linux.

In the future I'm going to try iMac and see how that goes, Mac Mini is only $650canadian. Less geekism I would think.

  • Trust me if you get a Mac you will never ever need a windows machine ever again.

  • He is slowly realizing the reality of a monopolist corporation.

A monopolist corporation doesn't care about giving you a good product, its only care is about the way to get the most money out of you, event if that means releasing a bad product.

But that is not minding Open Source. Open source is the only way to fight monopolist companies, by giving the users reliable and free alternatives.

It took Microsoft to release its worst product ever for the users to realize it. It's time to act.

  • I switched to vista from mac and am very happy. maybe 3-5 small annoyances with convenience features.

  • Vista is at least usable... But its still crap!

  • Windows Activation SUCKS!!!

    GO OPEN-SUSE!!!

    GO SUUUUSE!!!

  • UBUNTU FTW

  • apple hardware now crappy as hell selling it for very high prices and these vista haters have crappy computers

  • I know, the Hardware shrank and the price Inflated.

Even Mac Mini is 650canadian, what a rip.

MacOS Leopard CD, the cover is smaller than Vista. 200canadian, what a rip.

    I found a Mid-Sized PC for wayyy under 650canadian.

  • First i Can tell you the difference between them all BUT I must admit i had to look in to it when i first upgraded to vista its not that hard to find out..

2nd I agree vista was not ready at its launch and should be said about every window OS cmon xp was ready?????

3rd most of the computability have been solved after sp1 M$ os's work is this right no but at least they fix it so i give M$ some credit

4th IMO what people should be VERY ANGY WITH IS 64 DRIVER SIGNATURES and the BS surrounding it

  • Since Vista doesn't work, now Microsoft can do what they do best, and sell you yet another version, ie: Windows 7, to fix what Vista should have been in the first place.
