  • omg loved seeing Helena Bonham Carter and Emma Thompson together at 00:21 , two of my fav actresses!!

  • The trailer is revealing just the surface...plot is important, novel as well, but the particulars, the narrow folds revealed of the english society of that time is the most taste of this masterpiece. Did you notice Leonard Bast will be dying under the object of his freedom research itself? ....The poors are poors, we are sorry for this, but there it is.

  • Anthony Hopkins = Genius

  • Lots of over acting and scenery devouring there.

  • this is great im studying this for college and will definitely watch it! :)

  • was this really the original trailer?? No point in watching the film after having seen that - it gives away absolutely everything that would have been unexpected to the first-time viewer!

  • @diamondssjordan lol - no, I only watched it for Helena Bonham Carter but I wish I hadn't bothered.

  • i love Helena, everything she does is perfect :) &+ emma looks soo pretty in this !

  • tres bon film. exelente critique de la societe...gud critic of the society!!

  • Me gusta mucho como refleja la época, las distintas clases y la complejidad de sus personajes. Anthony y Vanessa están muy bien. Emma, simplemente lo borda. Buena película, aunque creo que The Remains of the day es bastante mejor.

  • Great Movie!!!!

  • It's a great movie, but the subject matter is really upsetting. I thought Carter's character was as bad a person as Hopkins. Both of them see lower-class people as something they can toy with and discard at leisure.

  • yup!

  • I just got that book for like a buck 3 days ago i wanna read it first but the movie looks soooo good!!

  • very good movie

  • The trailer is horrible. It is the most revealing trailer I've ever seen. It very casually shows all the major plot points and also the climax! Don't watch it if you haven't seen the film or read the book.

  • Yeah seriously i just started the book and then I watched this and I was like um. okay so that's what's gonna happen.

  • Yes, I agree. Trailers do have a tendency to rather annoyingly do that sort of thing! But uh....you mentioned 'revealing' and 'climax'. CLIMAX! Where? WHERE?! Oh---h, that sort of cli.... ;-)

  • que buena peliculaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • An Amazing movie! This movie was filmed in Hilton's Head. Great Acting!

  • DON'T HOG ALL THOSE SCONES, TIBBY!

  • Tibby did enjoy the scones and let the schlegel sisters talk too much

  • Just give up and watch the Big Brother, maybe it's a too complicated film for you, not everyone can understand and appreciate it.

  • I can understand complexity, and I can appreciate the dramatics of the film... but I think I often sleep through it is because it comes across as a dry British film to me, or I'm already tired and the couch is too comfy.

  • take ecstasy

  • like that will help.

  • I didn't say it would help...............

  • then why did you suggest it as a solution for me to watch this movie throughout?

  • Watch it when you're not tired :)

    Or take breaks.

  • Actually, I was going to say a little while ago, I watched the whole thing and didn't fall asleep, I simply watched it in the afternoon.

  • I know what you mean

  • DO what I did, watch it in the afternoon, less chance of conking out.

  • im not sure if I want to watch it

  • why?

  • just doesn't seem like my type of movie

  • Fine then.

  • The title is incorrect. It should be spelled out as "Howards End," without an apostrophe. I am irritated to see someone saying they love this film and at the same time misspelling in such a manner.

  • Dear irritated, Yes, I too absolutely deplore this sort of thing. It's quite simply, terribly unforgivable AND insufferable with it, isn't it?! Do you think this sort of person should be horsewhipped to within an inch (or approx. 2.54cm) of their life?! Or perhaps that sounds just a trifle lenient? Tell me....umm.... Your not 'straining a stool' over it though, are you? You are?! O-H SPLE-NDID!

  • Incredible movie....The acting, the scenery the direction...I have no words

  • I must see this film!!

  • fabulous movie! i think i need to read the book to understand it fully though.

  • I read the book after seeing the movie, and, though the book was good, what really struck me was how perfectly Howard's End was adapted to the screen. If you're thinking that the book will lay out clearly all of the main themes, you will be disappointed. The reader, like the viewer, is left to find his or her own way to some extent.

  • the film music is beautiful! (I know; only a little detail, but....)

  • A Merchant-Ivory-Prawe Jhabvala masterpiece, a unique picture of society as it was and will always be.

The Academy was extremely idiotic in awarding it so few awards. But then again they seldom make the right choice. Right idiots.

  • what year was the movie filmed? i can't imagine helena and emma thompson working together, when helena had an affair with kenneth branagh while emma is still his wife.

  • The movie was released in 1991, so it was probably filmed 1990 or early 1991. Helena's affair with Kenneth Branagh was in 1993-1994. (Frankenstein came out in 1994.)

Factoid: ET and HBC are now starring the Harry Potter series together.

  • yeah..i hope nothing's "gonna happen" to them.0_0

  • oh yeah, i never thought about them in Harry Potter together... i love both actresses but helena more me thinks.

  • erm the film is based on a classic novel so the story is well known anyway!!!!

  • does anyone know who wrote the music??

  • Richard Robbins did the score and he used the composition Bridal Lullaby by Precy Grainger for the opening credits.

  • THANK YOU!

  • Forster, Merchant, Ivory. Yes!

  • @wsmith68 of course you would SMITH

  • Respond to this video... OF COURSE YOU WOULD WSMITH68

  • great movie, awful trailer. they basically just gave away the entire film!

  • The trailer gave away the entire film? Well, in a sense, maybe; but, the story is an eternal theme, isn't it? A story of right and wrong, good and evil? Who among us doesn't know prominent people who claim to be moral, yet bend and twist the definition of morality to suit their own needs and wants? People who make concessions for their own ilk yet insist upon rigid moral applications for all others?

  • huh???

  • The story, the acting, the score, the costumes and the most beautiful house...this movie has it all!!
