Indiana has the enhanced license as well. It has an RFID chip nit. It is interesting to know that your name is printed on your FORHEAD in letters seen with a UV blacklight on all Indiana licenses now. And when you HAND it to an officer they will scan for this and other info. You might see it without a blacklight if your eyesight is good.

So I filled out their "customer" comment cards asking the "office of the director" if RFID will be embedded in the new DL`s and whom will have access to info from the chip and how that info will be used and applied. I asked them to send me a written answer...

Picture this.. A terrorist sits in a a local shopping mall/airport.. He/She is there to target certain nationalities or citizens. They have a laptop with an antenna capable of reading rfid tags from a distance.. He scans the whole area and all the tags show up on screen.. because we now rely on computers to keep us safe, these people have gained access to the network with access to the information these tags point to. The new "guidelines" for Enhanced Drivers Licences (EDL) were dictated by WHTI. WHTI is based off of the key recommendations of the 9/11 commission. We all know the 9/11 commission has not answered many question people still have about that sad day. We all know more money was spent to impeach Clinton, then was to investigate 9/11! So I ask you, why would we want to base a complete harmonized ID system for North America off of the suggestions of the 9/11 commission & homeland security?

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. Just like a barcode it has a number, But the number is on a chip. which can be read via radio waves. Just like bluetooth phones can read the radio signal of for example a headset. It works in the same kind of way. There is nothing wrong with it. The only thing is that the code can be read from a short distance by unauthorized people too! And on most chips the security is bad so that's the only problem.

The new new "Enhanced" version as mentioned in Ontario Bill 85 states that during this "phasing in" period, you will have a choice to pay extra for the full blown version with citizenship information.. when you go to get your licence renewed opt out of the enhanced version! Just take the regular drivers licence and if you plan to travel, get a passport instead. Don't tie your citizen info to your drivers licence for as long as you can.
