BTW, I read that New Zealand has all the climates of the world. Does that mean that they have deserts and tropical rain forests too?

There are kind of rain forests in the South Island. I don't think there is a desert though ... although people in Canada keep telling me there are deserts in NZ. I think they mean Australia.

I saw on a travel show that New Zealand has the Rangipo Desert but I don't think it is a true desert because it gets rain and snow. It's barren due to high winds and ashy volcanic soil.
