  • fuck the clappers :(

  • thank you for this wonderful vid... The united states sucks in having quality concert footage, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> thanks......

  • @princesparky really...you don't say????

  • i was here! god, it was soo good!

  • this version shits all over the studio recording

  • @MCshlthead Oh good. I thought I was the only one who preferred these early raw versions.... I loved the original version of "Lift" too... but they got away from that...

  • i put the shadows back into the boxes

  • Oh God Stop Clapping!!!!

  • April 16th. Let's do this.

  • DUDE THIS SONG IS AWESOME!!!!!!

  • I was there for that! Awesome!

  • All I can say is this sure beats Twisted Words and Harry Patch

  • nice! in some way is very similar to "I froze up", that beautiful old song.

  • Songs we could hope to see on the next album :

    The hollow earth

    open the flood gates

    lotus flower

    skirting on the surface

    feeling pulled apart by horses

    the present tense

    Super Collider

  • @Scott17quebec 1 out of 7 ain't bad.

  • @Scott17quebec

Interesting. Two are out. Where's the rest? Radiohead sure is careful about releases.

  • i only took a year of piano in college but thom has inspired me to take it up again. His stuff is genius yet technically simple. But all great art is that.

  • Stop talking about muse on every fucking radiohead video...

    cmon enjoy the music play

  • no clappings

  • clapping can be OK for certain songs, but please... obviously it was a shit idea for THIS SONG if the clap lasted like 10 seconds and people can't even keep beat. :/

to be more ontopic, i love this song (and awesome recording!) God, i got so excited as he was singing the higher notes, like, amazing. Want. Want. Want. Want.

  • I hate when people clap along, it reminds me of shitty school concerts with aul biddys gettin into some religious song, and they never reach the end of the song anyway so why bother??? I know some people must enjoy it but I always think it's just embarassing

  • nice nice, very nice!

  • I think this is the same song as the old one, "I Froze Up."

  • UGH, I HATE when people clap along to the song. It fucks the song up.

  • Next time I'm at a gig I'll be sure not to enjoy myself in case the people watching on youtube don't like it.

  • I wasn't talking to you. It just fucks up the song when people clap. I hate it even when I go to shows. Even when I play a show the people clap and it makes it hard to concentrate on playing the music I'm trying to play. I don't see you playing music. If you were in a band and people did it you would understand why it's so fucking annoying.

  • I do play music thanks, I've been in bands and people clapping along is a great feeling, seeing people enjoy the music you've created. It's not hard to concentrate if you know your songs well enough. Audience interaction is one of the great parts of a gig, maybe you'd prefer to stay home and listen to a CD? And who exactly were you talking to if not the viewers of this video? As someone who's clapping away somewhere in this video I didn't see a problem with replying to your comment!

  • I do interact with the audience, but clapping along to the music is just pointless and just fucks up the sound. I say this as a concert-goer and a musician. I don't see the point in clapping to live music. I don't see how it's fun or cool, it's just obnoxious.

  • Fair enough. I only join in with existing claps, I'm not one to start them. I've never seen any harm though, bands quite often prompt it, including Radiohead.

  • Well, I guess I could see why people would clap to Radiohead or something like that(I like Radiohead by the way), but I play punk and when people clap to that, it just makes no sense. I guess that's what I was trying to say.

  • 15 step for example

  • Its called opinion. Are you stupid?

  • I see this as a potential opening track for the new album. Absolutely beautiful song! Truly a great way to open a great record - hopefully.

  • I was all like you before, insulting everything eles and only saying radiohead rocks, (it's easy to see with my name), but now i still know radiohead is the best, problem is it's only the best for me, noone else at school or whereever listens to it, except maybe for creep and Karma police. choices are what choices are.

  • this song made me explode way too early. my girlfriend was pissed. now she wont let me listen to radiohead because they make me jizz in like 2 minutes

  • i dunno why but ireland seems like the perfect place for this song to deput lol dont ask me why

  • I think it's because Ireland is Thom Yorke's favourite country in the world ever. No really, it is. He likes it so much that he pretends not to mind when the drunks (myself included) start to obnoxiously clap when he's trying to publish a new heartfelt song. He even pretended he liked the clapping towards the end. He floats down the Liffey? So there you have it: Thom loves Ireland. More than all your countries. :P

  • Chile is the country that googles the word radiohead more times per capita in the world, we love them more than anyone else

  • @Nacho9001 Really? im chilean, and i didnt have any idea about that, (but i had googled radiohead) hahaha

  • umm im a big muse fan myself but muse does not even touch radiohead PLEASE do not ever compare the 2

  • Regardless of the fact that Radiohead is better (which I agree with), Muse has almost nothing in common musically with Radiohead. So Matt Bellamy also has a falsetto, WOW! The similarities pretty much end there. I hate it when people compare the two.

  • literally every single radiohead video on youtube has this conversation in the discussion thread.

  • well put

  • @pmac24 I think Radiohead put it best themselves on the latest release referring to Muse as "Mister Magpie".

  • @broadpath I would think Bodysnatchers was sort of a jab at the Radiohead clone bands...

  • COME TO BOSTON

    PLEASE

  • This is a damn good sign that if they already have a new song, we may not have to wait 5 years for the next one

  • i've read that they will be in the studio soon! great news, along with a summer tour..i hope they come close to me! cheers everyone, have a great day!

  • He makes the most beautiful music seem so effortless.

  • hah, agreed. I can't wait to here some more new tunes.

  • @Hibachiarenas, because they've stopped trying since Hail to the Thief...

    (waits to be shot)

  • can id ownload this>

  • follow the link in the description and there should be an mp3 download.

  • i didnt see it hmm...

  • thom yorke has such an amazing voice

  • Comment removed

  • YES GOD YES!

  • FUCK YES!

  • YES!

  • I like this song. Great audio quality

  • beautiful, beautiful song, is it just me or does it remind anyone else of analyze on The Eraser?

  • So glad he is bored of the guitar the piano is a far superior instrument.

  • Hey... How could you? :> I love the guitars :( They all grew up on guitars (and some of them grew up on mixing each others crayons ^^) Piano is making me tremble but guitars are also wicked.

  • not really, i mean most radiohead songs are guitar based. if you played them on piano it wouldnt be the same

  • Nah, i disagree. Just look at Like Spinning plates, or Everything in its Right Place. A lot for their songs are piano based. A lot of new ones are based around the ondes martenot.

  • Their old stuff is, but from Kid A and onwards, their songs are based on a ton of different instruments.

Thats whats so nice about listening to radiohead. There is no template to what it's going to sound like.

  • i agree. listen to pyramid song. or video tapes awesome songs then listen to my iron lung or you.. all awesome songs all so much different. thats why they are on the same level as MUSE which maybe no other band on the planet can say they are.. to be that talented

  • Because the dream of every band is to sound like MUSE.....

Let's not forget who is the shadow of the other.

That being said, I do like Muse. I just never thought Radiohead's musical endline was to become like Muse.

  • i dont believe that. i think any good band doesn't dream about sounding like anyone else but themselves. the good bands are good because they are different from any other band. they may have the same genre but can be very different

  • We can't forget that Coldplay wants to be like Radiohead. Chris Martin said that himself.

  • Good fucking luck, hate the wankers

  • WTF!!

  • well I was mocking what TheHoodedBastard said, since he made it sound like this song had put radiohead on the level of muse, as if muse had ever been better than radiohead (as if it wasn't ludicrous to compare the two bands considering how different their music is). My sarcasm was probably not conveyed appropiately due to the limitations of text. Also when I said "let's not forget who is the shadow of the other" i obviously meant that muse was radiohead's shadow. so stop thumbing me down dammit.

  • OK, OK, sorry.

  • yeah no prob. I think the problem is that it feels good to push that thumb down. I konw I like thumbing people down. It's like

    :D lol thumbs up

    D:< thumbs down mister.

  • Seriously? Where the hell do you people get the idea that Radiohead follows either Muse or Coldplay? Both bands came after RH, have said to be enormous fans, it shows in their music and neither of them ever get close to Radiohead's level of variation, sophistication, and LYRICS.

  • I know that, my response was directed at thehoodedbastastard for reasons unimportant, but with the purpose of sarcasm. I don't dislike muse, but like you, I realize they have nothing on radiohead. As a matter of fact, pretty much no modern band has got anything on radiohead anymore.

  • God bliss you dude.. God bliss you =)

  • muse is shit

  • muse is a fucking great band... radiohead is just better

  • muse is the best ROCK band today.. whereas radiohead is better overall.. but of course radiohead fans couldnt ever go low as rock... as easy as it is to imply that early muse copied radiohead, i can also say that "the bends's" radiohead copied Buckley.. thom went to a gig before releasing the bends and thats when he started with the falsetto... or i could say latter radiohead sounds like aphex twin...

  • i dont think any of these statements is true.. or even.. i dont care, because theyre doing music that i profusely like and can get connected sentimentaly with... but that is why i beg you to start bashing bands for having influences... Even when it is understandable that you think muse sounds like radiohead, they never plagiarized so why bother on being a jerk?

  • are you fucking my ass right now? you are such a cunt.. you know nothing. radiohead is based on so many different instruments, you coould impregnate a mexican village before counting them all... bam. fucked in the mouth

  • shut up you stupid little wanker. im talking about what the songs primarily compose of, i know they use many instruments but the majority of their stuff is guitar based. FACT 4 out of their 7 albums are 99% written on guitar, as for kid a, amnesiac and httt they have a lot of piano/keyboard based songs but some are still guitar songs.

knives out, go to sleep, there there, in limbo, optimistic, to name a few.

so next time think before you start talkin shit

  • Thom singing over the lone piano makes it so pure.. sounds like a mix between fog(again) and last flowers.. but more upbeat and optimistic. (who says RH can't do optimistic?)

Can't wait for their new album to come out! Radiohead always =)

  • They do occasionally play "Optimistic"....

  • I meant optimistic not in the song (which is barely optimistic) but the feel of it.

(Optimistic is one of my fav songs though)

  • nice high quality

  • Superb stuff again...love it when thom hits the high notes.

  • Man I can't wait for the next album, they just keep on getting better and better!!

  • Jonny and Thom said that after tour of Japan they are going to start work of new album :)

  • Anyone know where I can get an mp3 of this?

  • Mark my words.

This will be the next Idioteque.

  • What's with the thumbs down???

Do people not realize "idioteque" is a song??

  • don't worry, it's just youtube commenters thinking they know what they're doing, personally i agree. thumbs up.

  • I'm the one who knows :) That's why you got the 'thumb up' of mine :)

  • nice one. definatly the best quality recording of this tune on here. what did you use to record it? thanks for doing so. love this song!

  • the song was recorded with a Sony Handycam, thats as much as i know. im just the uploader. more details are in the info.

    glad u like it. :)

  • Wow I am already jonesing for another Radiohead album!

  • Wow. Great quality.

    Sounds awesome.

  • Thom Yorke own coldplay's balls. He keeps his nuts in a jar next right next to spam, back in his pantry.

    Coldplay is at best -----------OK

  • Don't even blaspheme by saying this is Coldplay. Colplay sound lke a fucking special needs class who've been thrown a piano and told to sing about their "feelings", with one domineering spaz (Martin) who takes creative control.

  • that's a wee bit harsh, isn't it? Coldplay are very nice, though not to be confused with radiohead, who are much nicer.

  • ditto fergusto. even at their worst, radiohead arent capable of sounding as poppy and dull as coldplay. this is a pretty good song, i hope they do develop and record it

  • Coldplay is shit

  • STOP CLAPPING

  • I want to kill those clappers.

  • If you did, you would probably go to jail.

  • I disagree. I would become a national hero.

  • I disagree with your disagreement, and it would all be caught on videotape....on.....video......tape.

  • lol a real hero:)

  • @goudafan

    I was there.

    I was clapping

    I REGRET NOTHING!

  • Thanks for the vid. ^^

  • could this be the sign of an 8th album?

if this makes the cut, they'd better clean it up a bit, this isn't doing it for me

  • i dont like the clapping

  • I hope they don't, or a better one.

  • i hope they do a studio-version of this

  • Reminds me of Cuttooth a bit. Thanks for the video.

  • Nice quality!

  • Yeah-- excellent!

  • There's the video to match that audio! Thanks man!
