Could somebody please tell me if the documentary called "Ithemba" is the same than this one called "Music by prudence"? I saw "Ithemba" two days ago in a festival here in Barcelona, Spain, and I loved it. And I`m getting aware right now of the animosity between the two directors. So, maybe they changed the name of the doc according to the country where it is presented because of the legal stuff?
If you understood their story then you'd understand her actions. She's a great woman and has done amazing things for this Zimbabwean band - including getting three of the members over to the states to fulfill their dreams of a college education.

I did read it and do understand now. Yes, he rushed to the stage so she couldn't speak..only one was allowed to speak. She removed herself from the project. The END RESULT project is what won the oscar...not her idea of it. She left almost a year ago. She shouldn't have even been invited. But due to a technicality and lawsuit she was invited. Speak? Please. She's lucky she's there.

Williams worked his ASS off on the project from beginning to end. Burkett quit the project. Williams did not get to tell his entire speech while Burkett got to tell her ENTIRE speech. It is a good thing that Williams rushed down there or he would not been able to speak at all. I don't think he would be the type to rudely interrupt Burkett. I think the Oscars should have shut off the microphone when Burkett came on. The group - COVE won best documentary, the mike was shut off after 1st speaker.

She didn't deserve to win the award, the film won because it was well directed and he directed it, all she did was introduce the idea and get fired early in the project. The only reason she won is because she sued them to be included, she had no right what-so-ever.

To be fair, she wanted all of the members in the band acknowledged; this is a fine goal, but HBO and Williams decided to just focus on Prudence. I can understand her disappointment, but creative decisions like this are made EVERY DAY. People's feelings get hurt, that is a part of the process, sadly. At least the other bandmates are in the film. I guess that they felt telling the story thorugh Prudence was the way to go....
