  • The astronaut is Jack (Harrison) Schmitt...he was fond of raising the gold visor and looking directly through the clear bubble helmet to get a better look at the rocks. He was the only "Scientist" ( Geologist ) to go to the Moon. The gold visor was a sun shield but also a radiation shield....safe to do without for short periods but not recommended for long.

  • What? Why can i see his face???? Isnt there supposed to be a gold film protecting him from sun?????? PLEASE please please can someone give me a real reason why this man did not get his face burnt off?

  • must have been amazing walking on that dusty surface 300,000 miles from earth.

  • Incredible footage. Its interesting that he had his visor up and you could cleary see his face. Amazing stuff.

  • @LtHavoc1983 No doubt, that was amazing. I feel foolish now. I've viewed hundreds of photos and video and don't think I have ever seen such a clear shot....wow.

  • cool
