Presumably the VT clock at the start has been edited on from a different source, since it's the clock for "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" rather than "James and the Giant Peach".
This can't be from 1973: I definitely remember Kenneth Williams reading this story in 1986, unless of course he did it twice, but I doubt it. Either way, though, he did it superbly, probably the best of all the storytellers on the programme and every bit as good as he was doing 'Willo The Wisp'.

@Feisty1967 I found it a bit creepy at the beginning, with the disembodied voice saying 'Jackanory, Jackanory'. The later, what I call the 'disco' titles were better, I think, less frightening for little kiddies, cause this scared the hell out of me!
