  • here's my story for this game: I had zsnes; a lot of roms, saw rthis game on the list and decided "meh, i'll olay it" twas fun, kept playing, then later bought that DS remake so i could own a proper copy :P

  • my names for characters always cracked me up but the game is real kool, these are the names i use robo=tron marle=whore lucca=nerd frog=green1 magus=darky ayla=rape ("ME RAPE, ME STRONG"), crono is just crono (awesome name, if i ever have a son i should name him crono). peace, stay kool folks.

  • @GRANDMASTERKANE so mature :P

  • OH black omen i really hate that :(( the place of course, not the music ! ;)

  • This is one of my favorite songs in CT! I love the piano. Reminds me of Detective Conan ^^

  • I'm surprised that people had a hard time with the Black Omen... It's tougher than the other places but my guys were all Level 48-52 and I had completed all the sidequests. Maybe that's why.

  • I do not know if anybody notices this but is Marle Throwing Flame from her finger?

  • ignore votefag

  • ahhh makes me remember the time when my smart-ass older brother unscrew the game cartridge and pull of its battery.... BOOM 26 hours worth of savegames in black omen lost...

yes there was no gamefaqs back then (there is, but know nothing bout internet)

  • @machvelocy I would have killed him.

  • Utterly amazing how all this beautiful music fit on that cartridge. One of my favorites!

  • one of my favorite from CT. so E P I C

  • この曲探してた、凄い。

    展開とか素敵過ぎる

  • So far I'm just flying through the Black Omen with a berserked Ayla ... ...

    Aylaa <3

  • This song makes the whole game come full circle. It says urgency, you are fucked, you need to hurry, there is a bitch at the end, we are more technologically advanced than anyone ever could be, mystery, and most of all, it to me is Squares way of saying, we made the best game ever, feast on our music!

  • Since when Marle[Nadia] has Fire magic Techs?, And even can do Double Techs with Chrono?, By the Way, Nice Music :)

  • @Kradto

That trope is called "Covers Always Lie"

  • @Kradto It's Arc Impulse. Crono's sword catches fire and Marle is in the position of creating a spell. Frog is laying on the ground ready to slash.

  • @PokabuLover123 Crono's sword does not catch fire in Arc Impulse and in that triple tech, Marle casts an ICE spell. Clearly in this pic, fire is coming from Marle's hands. Whoopsie daisy Square.

  • @Overfiend002 Who knows.

  • They made a song like this for an incredibly dangerous place, leading to the mot dangerous immortal ever? Man, these people were geniuses.

  • Black omen: Still the most intimidating and long "dungeon" in existence. Will never forget it.

  • Black omen: Still the most intimidating and long "dungeon" in existance. Will never forget it.

  • Someone should do a punk cover of this

  • @YUMMYngbird

they did, it's called the mars volta

  • @kruschev4149 ah man I don't know, this song is better than Mars Volta I think

  • This and the Ocean Palace themes are among the best dungeon themes ever, IMO. It's a shame that this song was always interrupted by the battle theme whenever you got into a fight with anything except Boss Orbs and Side Kicks.

  • Here's what I'm talking about. End. Final stairway. Whatever.

  • @Link504 My story is when I was like 8 my mom was playing this game, and I loved to watch her play it. So when she finished the game, I took it for a year long spin... and immediately thought "OK! LET'S DO THIS!" Later on I thought "HOLY CRAP! THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!" And to this very day, I think "Son of a bitch I want this game's era to come back.

  • THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER MADE

    thumbs up if you agree

  • When I first entered Black Omen and heard this music. I immediately left to go level up.

  • bad ass game yo. this is when rpgs were good. damn it all. i wish sometimes i could go back in time to when i was a little boy and bring the joy back as i played these games with my father. good shit mates.

  • lets face it, the black omen was one huge grindfest to prepare you for the real final lavos...but it was a fucking awesome one

  • @WinAFreeAppleIPod Dude, I remember grinding at the black omen until chrono was lvl 99! man I had patience as a kid!

  • Great song! i just played this on keyboard, let me know what everyone thinks! :)

  • This song STILL send shivers down my spine... such powerful enemies... creepy bosses that took FOREVER to kill... powerful Lavos Spawn... queen Zeal that could wipe your HP down to 1 whenever she felt like... God, it was the most horrible experience of my life!

...that being said, I loved every minute of it!

  • @PaxtheDreamer i just went to the nu and bought 99 full tonics and used the highest lvl single techs, healing when nessesary. i beat the place without a healer

  • @PaxtheDreamer I remember the first time I heard this song in-game. I was like.... "I should.... probably... not be in here.... I am a dead party walking..." Total wipe about a minute later. Love this song/game.

  • @PaxtheDreamer Do it at level 55 now... youre gonna laugh ur ass off. Monsters do 45 damage points in general

  • @PaxtheDreamer Just felt some myself. Man.

  • Here's my story of the game. I find an old SNES in 2006 at a garage sale. It's got games...HISTORIC games, like Final Fantasy II and III, Street Fighter II, Super Punch out. "Okay, I like this!" I thought. Among the other 32 games there, there was Chrono Trigger. Didn't look like anything interesting, just some weird ass game with a girl who shoots fire, a crazy hair boy and a pet frog. After three years of nothing but FFII and III, pop in Chrono Trigger, and I'm like "SHIT THIS IS AWESOME!"

  • @Link504 how old are you?

  • @neogalahad 19

  • @Link504 That makes more sense...Dang 7 year difference in gamers is pretty significant.

  • @Link504 so you were to stupid to notice the SQUARESOFT logo on it Or do ANNY basic research into the game? Good job your an idiot. Also if your going to say you like those games atleast call them, Final Fantasy IV and VI like they really are.

  • @Jakezing Are you done? I thought this was youtube, not angsty butthurt nerds who wont shut the hell up forum fan page. Of course I know they are IV and VI, they were released to the US originally as II and III. I'm going by what the cartridges were labeled.

  • @Link504 irony here is marle is ICE not fire

  • @isorukinuta Yeah, I found that kinda weird. But I shrugged it off.

  • @Link504 poor you i feel sorry you didnt enjoy it earlier!!

    but your VERY lucky

  • @Unknowmaster I can't help but think the previous owner had good taste, but was mortally insane for giving up this console in the first place. The best part? The whole thing cost me only $5.00. Now THAT is a steal.

  • This sounds a little like The Velvet Underground.

  • now I've always wondered about that cover, cause I don't remember Nadia ever using fire techs in the game. As I recall, that was Lucca.

  • @antisantaempire just conscept art not ment to be true to the game

  • @antisantaempire That confused me too after playing it, but fire is easier to draw than ice I guess.

  • @antisantaempire

I remember reading it was a mistake that was also in-game, but corrected later. I could be wrong.

  • @antisantaempire Yeah, guess when this drawing was done!!! Yep, you're exactly right!! BEFORE Marle was even programmed!!! Unless the drawing was done after the game was finished, and the guys went through a time gate and gave the art to their previous selves, just to mess things up!!! Yeah that was probably it!!

  • Got to love that elevator fight.

  • This game's soundtrack deserves a Grammy.

  • @magnusLordN

    No doubt about that

  • For some reason I wanna play this song everytime I upload a picture of myself to a site.

  • For two people, the future refused to change....

  • oh so epic this song i love it!

  • This game should be available on all Console's Market places right now..

A True Classic for any gamer!

  • I swear on the DS version they removed the bass.

  • Comment removed

  • @callum123933

Fear not, friend, for they didn't. It's just that the DS's speakers are crappy.

  • @FingerPicker9

It's because we're talking of a handheld console, but in some games, the music is cool, Truth.

  • This place was great for leveling up i really miss this game );! they need to remake it for ps3 or released it as a PS1 classic..

  • I definitely believe this ranks along the most eerie soundtracks coming from Square (Darkness of the Unknown and PE's Reprise/Aya Theme). Love them both.

  • @PURGiFy also, it was a reference of a book, "the meaning of life, 4 keys, 2 friends(or something like that)." 42 is the life's purpose number lol

  • @PURGiFy ...cool

  • muito loko aki mano

    goku 4 x 1 shu

    chrono 3 x 0 marle

    robo 1 x 0 lucca

    Sao Paulo 5 x 1 corinthinas

  • Nostalgia!!!!!

  • I just realized the box art is messed up, Lucca should be doing the fire whirl whirl with Crono, but it shows Marle! My childhood has been ruined!

  • @number154

To be fair, the Box art could have been conceived in the pre-alpha to alpha stages in the game, or maybe before any gameplay had been established!

  • @rushnerd It's too late my childhood has already been ruined. RUINED!!!

  • @number154 there is nothing wrong with that cover art dude, that's the triple tech Arc Impulse. they use red/blue/flashing fire.

  • @Crossinglight BUT MARLE SHOULDN'T BE THERE

  • I H8 SQUARE SO BAD! as if they shut down chrono trigger res.

  • @Dragonballvidmaster Don't worry they will make it up with Deus Ex: Human Revolution :D

  • god I'm nostalgiaing so hard

  • Chrono Ressurection.

It was canceled when it was almost finished.

  • Mario Games-hundreds

    Chrono Games-2 & a half

  • @ningeaBLADEclanuBECA whats the half?

  • @brainjuice654

    Chrono Trigger DS probably.

  • dang preety good.

  • Chrono Trigger is so good they're still just now using elements from it. Hell three of the best rpgs of the PS1 era are based on Chrono Triggers story. FF7, Xenogears, and of course Chrono Cross. CT was way ahead of the curve.

  • i played both chrono trigger and ffvi i love ffvi but trigger...its just EPIC!

  • man this one is my favorite theme on the game well in :40 after that the magic starts :D

  • It's really annoying when people say Chrono Trigger isn't as hood as FF VI. The storyline for CT is original, compared to the traditional "evil empire/organisation tajes over the world and small band of freedom fighters comprised of goodies, baddies turned goodies" that many FF's have.

  • @Markell1991 dont you mean "evil empire/organization/entity try to take over/destroy the world... CT and and FF6 both have standard RPG plot and gameplay elements. the thing that makes chrono trigger better is time travel. it lets you actually play out each piece of the game's back story and hardly needs to rely on memory sequences to advance the central plot. also the music is better.

  • @fakeprophecy I understand you there, but CTs storyline is significantly different to the FFs. I think that CTs story line in relation to the different time periods is just that. Each one is significantly different, with their own intricate goings on.

  • This music is SO good. I could train in the Black Omen forever and not tire of it.

  • I still have this game for the PSX and my chrono is lvl 89 haha i can take on every boss alone and even beat lavos with no problem at all i can do it all a half hour without breaking a sweat CT will never die for me best Even though its a cousin to FF i still love it I just wish they remade it for a new system....DREAM PROJECT! COME BACK! T_T

  • @Loneruler lol i played new game + so many times on my emulator that my crono, magus, and marle were lvl 91. Playing that game was like my entire sr. year of high school (I didn't have an snes or psx/2). Btw THANK YOU so much constantlimit for posting this music, I've always thought that despite how old the game is, chrono trigger had possibly the best soundtrack for a video game of all time and this song has always been one of my favorites.

  • Really beautiful, mystical and magical music. It makes me think about the unknown.

  • Chrono Trigger is, and always will be, one of my all-time favorite RPG's. The game in itself is great, and the soundtrack is amazing. This is just one of my favorite tracks from CT. The theme of the Zeal Kingdom is another one. :)

  • I like how the SNES music is different from the PSX and DS versions, even from the OST. Its pretty awesome.

  • i never really payed attention to the music when i used to have this badass game. now that i listen, it was some cool shit...

  • I never wanted to leave this level of the game solely on this music Lol.

  • @andrewvr86 I DID IT 3 TIMES ACTUALLY

  • This song is just...amazing.

  • The bass sound is fricking amazing. super goddamnly cool men!

  • Favorite song ever :D

  • Cool! 4/5

  • Yeah !

  • i hate you! This is 10000/5 and its a fact. get the fuck out from this cool song. only cool people gets to hear this music not like you.

  • i picuture this song is used to unvail a badass sports car.

  • The image of that genuinely made me laugh for some reason...

  • hahahaha

  • @Shishizurui ya know...I never really thought of it that way but now that you said something...

  • My life's purpose was to play this game.

  • @rushnerd Then you are my eternal friend, for it is mine as well.

  • @rushnerd my lifes purpose was to play super mario world-belive it or not, super mario world is a game only by an inch greater than chrono trigger-it's simplicity slightly surpasses the greatness of ct but nothing surpasses the greatness of zelda-oot so the final verdict is:zelda-oot, the greatest game of all time; super mario world 2nd & chrono trigger 3rd.end of story.

  • @ningeaBLADEclanuBECA How many Mario games are there?

How many Chrono Trigger games are there?

  • @rushnerd same

  • @rushnerd looooooool.¨

is an extremely good game though

  • @rushnerd mine was to play it 42 times lol

  • @rushnerd Yeah i know what you say

  • @rushnerd LooooolLLL

  • @rushnerd I can't possibly imagine living my life without having played this game.It resonated with me then, now and forever.

  • @rushnerd What happened when you finished it?

  • @ranchnugget

I was in awe, then kept trying to get the different endings.

  • @rushnerd

Well, I think its about time you kill yourself then.

  • Oh my goodness, I LOVE this bass!

  • This and Terranigma are my favorite games by Square and Enix, respectively.

  • this game was epic as fuck

  • This game is right up there with the Super Nintendo classics like Metroid and Zelda. And like those games, the music is absolutely amazing.

  • Mmmmm....no.

  • While yes, the gameplay itself was nothing special, the sound track is one of the best game sound tracks of all time.

And you have to admit that the Time Travel aspect is awesome. I like how everything changes through the ages.

  • the gameplay was special it was awsome along with the story and the music it was just a beast game

  • While yes, I strongly disagree with Iffy about it being "Simplified to the point of hardly being a game anymore", you have to admit that the combat system was nothing new. It was what your standard RPG battle system was like at the time. It's the music, characters, concept, and setting that made it so great.

  • ok... i liked the combat system i didnt see anotherr game with techs for awhile... and besides its my favorite game for super nintendo and i have the remake for DS also

  • The only thing that was standard about the RPG system was the ATB, everything else was a new concept at the time, combat without battle screen, how the battles revolved around combining techs, did I mention every single enemy encounter was scripted, making them not random? That's alotta programming work there. Consider this, the newest FFs are incorporating aspects in it's gameplay that CT already did, over a decade ago.

  • @JessieandtheGiantFis And CT was greatness for it.

  • @JessieandtheGiantFis too bad the new ff sucks, no hate though, chrono trigger is one of my favourites of all time.

  • @JessieandtheGiantFis Chrono Trigger is still among the most enjoyable JRPGs today. I'm fond of the characters, no random encounters, soundtrack, and level design, personally. A lot of RPGs, even today, still rely on outdated crap like monotonous levels, grinding, underdeveloped characters, and old school battle systems. And to me, it's unacceptable.

    See: Dragon Quest

  • @JessieandtheGiantFis You know how much I like how the encounters aren't teleporting you into a parallel universe consisting of one really roomy hallway that has similar architecture to the place you are advancing through?

  • @JessieandtheGiantFis not to mention the fact that robo's theme rick rolled everyone decades before the internet could have lol

  • @DivineBanana ... I can't unhear it now. You have singlehandedly ruined Robo for me.

    (Lucca fixes Robo, activates him)

    WE'RE NO STRANGERS TO LOOOOVE

    "Oh God, what IS that?"

    (Flame Toss)

"Great. Now how are we gonna get the power on?"

"Don't care. We can do without THAT."

  • @omegaham LOL

  • @JessieandtheGiantFis Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest had non-random battles too, but it's easy to forget about that, since it's quite underappreciated.

  • not really. What other game removed the screen transition to battle before chrono trigger? or the ability to see your enemy before combat? those are two of my biggest pet peeves of the jrpg and CT removed them

  • Earthbound for the second one...

  • earthbound or mother 2 is from nintendo

mmm... this likes me but in Snes i prefer FFV,FFVI respectively but i'm know that the VI is better only that the FFV is my first FF

  • Agree 100%. The only RPG game with a more kickass soundtrack is Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, IMHO. Ironically, the rest of that game was pretty basic, still fun way to kill time.

  • what NOT the best SNES RPG ??Chrono trigger is one of the best, good music, good graphic, good storyline and originality

  • I game can still be great with out being THE best. It is one best this is true, but someone might think some other snes rpg is better.

  • disagree on that. It really isnt basic at all for the game. Pretty standard actually. A game that does what you are referring to is Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (purposely simplified to try to get more people to play it) and that game too had a KICK ASS soundtrack

  • mi parte favorita es 0:39 - 1:20, es magestuoso

  • 1:20

  • Oh HELL yes. I just got here in the DS version... damn good track for the finale.

Those stupid mutants can just go die in a pit though. At least I had Luminaire (Holy) and Dark Mist (oh yeah, I'm taking THAT guy... he swore to slay Lavos, after all), so I could just spam uber magic.

  • @kiraina25 can u get this guy in the snes version???? what was his name again??

  • 1:06 is my favorite part of the whole song. Speaking of that, I finally was able to play Chrono Trigger and really get into the game (almost beat the whole thing in one sitting... but the Black Omen is what kept me from making it all the way... final boss there :S) but the one thing that made the Black Omen bearable, to me, was the music. Just awesome.

  • accept this isn't in stereo....

  • I LalalalaLOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • Of Schala of Metal, yes?!

  • the bass is what makes the song - the synergy of that with the trilling piano makes it great

  • Is there any word of Square developing a new game to add to the Chrono series?

  • Comment removed

  • I find it funny how Marle has the ice element in the game, but they show her with fire on the box cover. And the beast they're fighting is only in one location, lol.

    I always questioned that...

  • When I played this game in 4th grade, I got chill from this song <3. Gosh i love Chrono Trigger

  • love the bass in this song :)

if only i could find the tab for it...

  • @xxeyyxx did u ever find the tab? If not, go to gametabs. they have it.

  • love this song!

  • Best song in the game. My favorite scene in the game, too, when you see it rise out of the ocean, and you're just sitting there thinking, "Oh shit...."

  • hahahah agree

  • Mewhahaha the needed experince to get lv 99

  • Yeah and the poor villagers and Nus fell into the ocean and the guys in the caves got washed away... So sad... : (

  • God I love this song... the Black Omen is probably my favorite RPG dungeon of all time.

  • Wow, It's insane how much boss battles there were on Black Omen.

  • YES!

somebody on youtube said he didn't revive chrono but finished tha game through the bucket. I was like DUDE, you skipped the best part of the game.

  • So this is the Black Omen... It's pretty cool!

  • Is it just me or can you not hear the bass on the DS version?
