I used to work for Rogers and it was one of the most terrible companies in the world.

I used to go over mobility bills with angry customers amongst other things.

I noticed Rogers makes a lot of money off billing errors.

A lot of billing errors may go unnoticed by people and rogers makes a bundle off of it.

On a preface I gotta say when I bought an XBOX alot of my friends were outraged I gave the corporate giant,Microsoft my money. BOOM, 5 years later I get an iPod my girlfriend get another MP3 player and we went shopping for portable speakers for her. I'm not gonna lie, I love the Palm Treo. But was really hoping to hop onboard with the iPhone. At least I got the GSM version so I can switch easily if I decide it's worth it.

But it's sad that Rogers is the only Canadian network that is GSM. I have worked in third world countries where all their networks were exclusively running GSM bands. How could they not have adapted much earlier than this? No wonder Rogers can have it's own way. The Canadian communications industry is a mess and it's starting to affect web designers like me who want to produce more mobile content.

The third world countries are able to leapfrog us, technologically speaking, because they're only building networks now, or recently, and they're picking the better technologies now. We, by contrast, have had them for a while, and there're the upgrade costs to consider, I think.

The whole delay was over pricing negotiations and greater mobile internet access. Rogers is not going to do a 180 and give up the pot of gold (from bilking personal consumers) for technological advancement. But they will make concessions for enterprises

Well, Telus is supposedly working on a network expansion which would allow them to run the iPhone, unlike now. Also, there's talk that competing phones, including Koodoo-esque phones, are taking a chunk out of their pockets, putting them in the rare position to need to do something to stay competitive.

I would advise that Canadians keep running to the border to get their iPhones than pick one of from Rogers. Cause they will rope you into a long contract and kill you with exorbitant data plan fees.

Actually, there's debate as to whether or not it IS illegal, because while you're legally allowed to own an unlocked phone, and to unlock it, the process of unlocking it -- circumventing restrictions into the software -- can be seen as illegal.

When are they jacking up their rates? From all accounts they're going to be dropping rates down, and the presumption is that they had to, in order to get Apple to hand over the phones.
