  • Don't start gambling now!

  • OH NO!!! Don't go to Vegas with that Kinghuman jerk! Yur gonna end up in a Vegas jail. YIKES!

    See ya in Vegas bro.

    kh

  • Vegas sounds exciting! I wish you well there. I really think that anyone can find their passion and make a business of it if they have funds to back themselves and the seller's savy to get buy in. Lookinging forward to hear how that goes!

  • So, you want to go into business for yourself, but don't know what you want to do, so you're going to go to Vegas to find out? "Don't run that past a psychiatrist," would be my advice!

  • Wow...sounds great, I hope you have a good time there.

  • Do me a favor... Go to Paris (the hotel) and they have a restraunt that sits facing the Bellagio. Go there and video in the evening and have some dinner there. You won't regret it. Sitting back enjoying the sights and sounds of Vegas while watching the fountains of Bellagio dance to the sound of music and eating some divine food.

  • Not much money is web hosting.

I have been doing ebay for over 12 years; you have to continually be reinventing your self; and as soon as you do, you then have to start working on reinventing your self again for the next change. I started out in ebay selling junk; then went into antiques during the first year of selling antiques I was able to buy my husband an SUV for his birthday and paid cash for it; not to shabby; then I reinvented into fine antiques, then jewelry, and on and on and on...

  • ....I am now selling art; not doing to bad, but I have to tell you I won't be buying any more vehicles and paying cash for them with what I am making now. There is money to be made out there, you just have to find your niche and always be willing to shed your skin for the next reinvent! Best of luck to you.

  • I tried hosting re-selling years ago. I probably quit too soon, but it didn't seem like it was worthwhile.

  • Short part 3

Bottom line is, I've found it easier to do the web site, then help them set it up on their own hosting service. They take care of all annual bills as necessary directly without my spending half of each day dealing with Tinkers to Evers to Chance accounting. Yes, it makes updating a bit of a hassle sometimes, but overall it cuts down on the nonsense bookwork that produces little profit.

  • Thanks! Real good comments.

  • Just my opinions and business model. I'm sure others will disagree. Do whatever works best for you. What you want to do (new customers vs customer maintenance) is very much a personal issue.

  • As for web hosting, I tried that. And it really didn't seem worth the effort. Unless you go and get your own servers and bandwidth, you're the middleman. You gotta go and bill your customers for their domain name registration, hosting, POP3, whatever, every year, then forward most of that money to whoever the real host is. Or you can charge enough to make it worth your while and have them tell you you're crazy.

    Short part 3 coming up.

  • First, as far as corps go, here's what I know. I've always run things as a proprietorship and I'm happy with it. My friend runs his consulting company as a corp and he's always complaining about the extra bookwork and taxes.

Bear in mind that, even as a proprietorship, if you want to use a name other than your last name, such as Smith's Stuff (assuming you're Smith), you must register your fictitious name. this depends on state.

    Next part coming up.

  • Well, I know the perfect person to ask. You've got my number.

  • OMG I can't believe I forgot your expertise! Woohoo, I'll be calling soon. :)
