  • that's ok, you are no worse than the rest of us...lol. Not sure what Strike Back is .. must look it up.

  • shaking hands!!!! wow thats something we do so much and it wasnt done in all forms! lol

  • 2:58 Mr. Thornton rolls his eyes lol XD he's so amazingly awesome <3

  • @34RiverStone I know I noticed that when I was watching it with my parents adn my dad and I laughed for like 5 minuetes. lol. Then I proceeded to swoon over his awesome brooding skills and my dad was like ,"Oh jeeze!" lol

  • @dht23 LOL XD I laughed for a while afterwards as well. Plus your dad is awesome lol

  • @34RiverStone lol.

  • It's just his natural voice, perhaps it sounds deeper with the Northerner accent but actually one could recognise it among a thousand...

  • love their voices

  • I think he would also be a perfect Mr. Darcy :)

  • He is sooooo sexy, I could never say no to him....

  • Wow, she looks a lot like Charlotte Church here, it's uncanny!

  • Thorton wants to love Margaret but then she goes and starts fighting with him and then he seems to lose all that love that he had been showing!!

  • @rbain007 he's a bit like Colin Firth's repressed Darcy, which is why he comes across as irritable

  • Thornton makes me so hormonal!!!

  • Oh, Mr. Thornton, such a wonderful man you are. Self-made, honorable, full of integrity, good-hearted and such a mamma's boy. I <3 you.

RA is such an amazing actor. Not bad to look at either. And that voice! My God.

  • Incidentally, the looks he keeps giving her.....my goodness. I wouldn't be able to stand it; undressing me with his eyes. I'd have to jump on him and drag him into the...parlor? LOL.

  • @Genesislinx yes. and another yes. I don't know how she keep herself of that fine specimen of manliness. purrrr.......hmmmmm how how did she keep off? Oh THORNTON. Can't help but love him. :P

  • "The weaker sex is stronger than the stronger sex, because of the weakness of the stronger sex for the weaker sex."

HE IS ADDICTED TO HER... BUT HE HASN´T REALIZED IT YET!

  • Mr Thornton is so sexy when angry, if i were Margret, I would piss him off at every opportunity!

  • 4:51 lovely smile! and oh to be that tight shirt!

  • yes, that part where she falls asleep while the guest is there, that would be rude in any society and I imagine worse at the time, worse than her not shaking hands with him, like telling your guest: you're boring me to death, can you go home now. they make a lot of additions in the movie compared to the book, which are quite strange and actually don't really have a place anywhere.

  • they are both very prejudiced about each other, Mr. Thornton and Margaret. But, at least in the movie, there seems to be this tension, this physical attraction, even from Margaret's side. In the book her thoughts are made more clear I guess, and you can understand that she's just judging him, watching him trying to understand him, but still judging him.

  • I like his smile after knocking the door of Mr. Hale

  • um, handshakes are symbols pretty much...everywhere...

  • Mr. Hale is awesome.

  • My pride would not prevent me from taking money offered freely - if it enabled me to feed my children...

Myself I could deny but not my kids...

  • The tea cups look so huge

  • everytime thornton looks at margaret <3

  • In the book, this scene is even more beautiful because it shows you what he's thinking. There are a few lines about how Thornton observes her bracelet and thinking about how elegant she is. They added that bracelet in the dinner party scene.

  • i love his smile at 4:16

  • @MissOMG323 Oh my God it was so cute :)

  • Dun Dun Dun DUN.

  • Comment removed

  • BAAH! Ladies, don't deny that you would die if he gave you that smile at 4:41. *sighs*

  • "Mr. Thorton has been admiring our newly decorated rooms" ....sure ...that's what that is...if that's what you wanna call it ;)

  • Margaret is kind of a snob, isn't she? It's usually the man that I don't like at first in period dramas, but I think this is the exception. She annoys me to no end!

  • @MemphisCharm

She's meant to be a haughty and a bit narrow-minded in the book as well.

  • 4:11 What a hat!! (RA is sooo sexy)

  • those eyes were hovering over her like...oh mr. thorton!

  • ..smouldering look.

oh, miss hale!how could you ignore such sexiness!!!

  • i like how thornton keeps looking at margaret throughout the whole visit

  • I absolutely hated miss hale from the first moment I saw her - until the last episode!

  • Miss Hale did put her foot in her mouth with the comments about good fortune.

  • Where did all of the storms in England go. When I lived in Germany, we had storms every night in the summer. I really miss them and also his tiny smile is so sexy

  • Where did all of the storms in England go. When I lived in Germany, we had storms every night in the summer. I really miss them

  • I love the way he says "Fortune"!!

  • His hat makes my socks melt. ;D

  • Richard really looked old with that haircut, but at part 3 it was well cut and he looked soooo good.

  • to refuse to shake someone's hand was and is a serious dis. Margaret knows that. She won't because she is resisting her attraction.

  • @Ramigurl she probably refused because she didn't like how he was looking her up & down when she was pouring tea. oh my, I would've been so nervous. aaaahhhhhh!!! :)

  • you can tell they're gonna fall in love....am i right?

  • @MysitcRiver29

    yes ma'am

  • I'm not gay, but Richard Armitage is a damn good looking man

  • @englishfrenchgerman

i think u r. guys don't watch stuff like that

  • I consider you a catch, John Thornton!!!

  • his handsomess grows on u

  • The more I look at him, the more astonished I am...This man's profile's more perfect than the finest sculpture

  • OMG the northern accent is awful

  • Richard Armitage is an authentic character actor, just notice how invested he gets in his role. How he roles his eyes at Fanny's piano playing n singing, and his small smile after knocking on the Hale's door...

Gah, its really unhealthy how obsess I am...

  • i like that scene where she hands him the tea lol haha of course! theres always gotta be that "touch the finger" scene hahaha

  • Richard & danelia both together makes north & south work!!!

  • I want a man to look at me like that! Wow!

  • I think it's sweet how his awful mother is proud of him

  • Richard is just....sexy.

  • Richard is to play Thorin Oakenshield in "The Hobbit!"

  • @celticpoet21 Yeah, but wasn´t he a dwarf? How dwarfy will Richard be in that role? I hope they will make his character taller then usual dwarfs, he could look just like in Robin Hood XD

  • @celticpoet21 Really! are you sure!?!?!? that would be great, I'm a huge fan of the Hobbit!!!!

  • @celticpoet21 Oh my goodness your right! that's awesome!!!

  • @celticpoet21 I cannot imagine him as Thorin the dwarf o_O

  • @celticpoet21 hell yeah!

  • @celticpoet21 hell yeah!

  • Margaret is INCREDIBLY judgemental.

  • Oh Mr. Thorton, such a mommy's boy.....<3

  • i wouldn't be able to breathe with him looking at me let alone argue. props to daniella for being such a good actress!

  • I can not belive that she was sleeping while he was in the same room. Hahahaha. ..

  • Newly decorated rooms, lol! It's so dark in there how can they tell?

  • If I recall, in the book, she doesn't reject his hand but merely doesn't notice it...

  • I know I sure couldn't pour tea with him looking at me like that. shiver.

  • don't worry Mr. Hale, Margaret will take John hands pemanently at the end

  • awkward moment when Margret pours the tea

  • @donkeymikes really awkward moment when she doesn't take his hand :/

  • Is it any different today how people depend on gossip to be true? We don't, usually, give the other person, "the benifit of the doubt." We will believe what we want to sometimes. Creates misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Had we lived in another person's shoes, we would do exactly what they do. Merciful/kind people are wonderful to be around. We can't form the world around us as we want most times and it's frustrating! lol The sweet touch of their fingers is so romantic. Yes?

  • Whoever calls Miss Hale as plain is plain stupid. Or shallow. And I am pleased to be NOT acquainted with the likes of you. XD

  • @5AmSuN I stop reading when people call others, "stupid." We are supposed to respect you for that kind of language and arrogence? No. Your choice and opinion but sad you have to express yourself like that. My opinion.

  • @Songsmirth Gee, like you said, it's just an 'expression', but it is hardly arrogance. Not to be taken seriously! ;)

  • Omg if that was me I would've gave him a hug

    Forget the handshake:D

  • i always think what if at 5.06 Mr Hale said: Mr Thornton has been admiring our daughter. thehe.

  • @lilytanzy jajajja that's true!!!

  • The tea scene is just perfect... His eyes, how he gently looks upon her, their hands...

  • She reminds me somewhat of Lizzie's prejudice (of Jane Austen). ;-)

  • @lauratutila lol Too right! And Lizzie is as incorrect as well. Good comparison. Was thinking the same thing. :)

  • This man's voice! Oh my, just like silk!

  • Comment removed

  • @lauratutila Oh yeah its pure orgasmic! Lol

  • "Don't worry mother.. I'm in no danger of Miss Hale."

    Yeah right...

  • Does anyone notice how lovingly he is looking at her when she is pouring him tea. AHHHHH he is such a babe!!!!

  • @sageg16 Yes. He's impressed with her class and quality. Even when I was a girl men and women didn't shake hands like today. The men did but not women. Wow, am I old!! lol I suppose it was a touching thing. You didn't touch another man's wife. It's interesting that it was a custom in this part of England. Shaking hands meant approval. In really old times it meant you would trust a person long enough to not go for a weapon. You were open enough to touch and trust them.

  • AHH! I love his little smile at 4:52. Delish! That just melted my heart. It's such a shame he is so underrated. But less competition for me :D

  • @svufan9 I feel the same! Strange that he seems to have flown just under the radar for so long. Even easier to watch him because he never gives a poor performance. But for the ladies who are missing out, too bad for them. :)

  • thornton's voice is oh so brilliant

  • @khgyut you should hear some of richard armitage reading poetry. total swoonfest

  • Does anyone notice how Thornton walks into the room and rolls his eyes upwards at his sister's singing? :/ If no one did, then ah, did anyone notice the way he put on his coat? :D

  • @EverlastingxHope I noticed! One cannot help but stare at him when he is on the screen :D

  • @LivingintheShire

I know right D: He is so hot.

  • @EverlastingxHope I did too! can't help smiling every time I saw he roll his eyes like that. :) Fanny is funny! maybe that's why she's called that.hahaha.There are so many tiny moments like this that make him soooooo adorable. Love the way he "sneaked a look" at Margaret when they met in the streets after she refused him, n' said in a seemingly indifferent way "I wouldn't know." n' then touched the brim of his hat n' then looked at Margaret, then walked on...I know I stare at him too much :P

  • @stilladeline

My heart rate speeds a whole lot up whenever he comes onto the screen :/

Richard Armitage is a great actor, and it's good that they didn't just pick someone with a pretty face. :)

  • what does Thornton reply after Mrs. Hale says that wallpapers are similar to the ones in Helston?

  • @Bishkekkyz On behalf of Milton taste, I'm glad we've almost pass muster.

  • Daniela Denby-Ashe (Margaret Hale) is beautiful! despite her plain looks, her profile and her portrayal of the character is really amazing.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

However, I must add that Richard Armitage is just the ugliest. I can't bear the sight of him. I hate those eyes. that face. that body. If I was (God forbid) ever stuck in a room with him, I would look the other way.

    :P:P:P:P:P:P

  • @infinite3joy I'm hoping to high heaven that you're kidding?

  • @sookala

LOL :D of course. i just didnt want to copy everybody and go "ohhh... aaahhhh... i wish i could marry him". lol.

  • @infinite3joy LMAO. Original, you are. :D I am one of those hopeless fangirls who melts into a puddle of mush whenever he looks at the camera.

  • @sookala

i wish that wasnt my case too.... its starting to worry me.... :)

  • I'm in no danger from Ms. Hale? Famous last words.. :)

  • OMG. The whole tea scene. Dammmn thats sexy. Super sexy hahaha.

  • Ohh good lord...I never found Mr. Thornton sexy at first, but after seeing him throughout the movie more...good GRIEF, he's sexy without trying to be! I can't even put my finger on it! Because it's not really about his face...it's the way he "uses it," I guess XD;

  • Thank you so much for putting these on by the way. I love this movie so much. This is like, my 5th time to watch it. I'm going to buy it soon. Thank you SO MUCH!

  • the only one who has not suffered in her life is Margaret.

  • is John thorton a succesful and rich businessman, so he can dress like the gentry, but he's not part of it is he?

  • 4:55 HE TOUCH HER FINGER!!! HE TOUCHED HER FINGER!!! BASTARD HE WAS SUPPOSED TO TOUCH MINE!!!

  • Why does Mr. Thorton smile/stare at Ms.Hale in 4:45-4;57

  • @MsNicoleBateman Because he fancys her.

  • 4:17-18 aw bless look how excited he is to see Margrett :P

  • When she didn't take his hand I was like "Oh no she didn't! :O'

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! swoon swoon @ 4:45!!!!!!!!!!

  • anyone notice the subtle touch of fingers at about 5.00? :O shock horror!! hahaa

  • "You are mistaken! You don't know anything about the South." (insert applause for Margaret for telling Thornton off).

  • @kathCT she's right but then again, she doesn't know anything about the north.. :P

  • He looks a bit like Gabriel Byrne in these scenes.

  • 6:04 It's so unfortunate! Just as he starts to like her she continues to not like him, and here his shoulders literally fall from disappointment

  • i just cant seem to help but fall in love with Mr Thornton all over again everytime i watch this moviee :) <3

  • lol! Mr Thorton was actually admiring your daughter granpa, not the redecorations :P

  • Comment removed

  • 2:59-3:03

ROFL! The look on John's face at Fanny's singing!!! XD Whatever it may say about your wealth to have a piano, I bet that's one status symbol John wishes they *couldn't* afford. ;)

  • Okay, Mr Thornton is super hot but his mum... I'd definitely think twice. Well, I probably would still, but his mother definitely needs to go into a granny flat in another county.

  • @carriebennet Granny flat!!! Wow you are so MEAN!!!! But thank you, I laughed so hard at your comment!!! Thanks! :)))

  • How is this man not a International movie star? The nuances he gives in just a simple look speaks more than words. He is incredible at saying so much without really saying anything at all.

  • eerrrrr...margaret can really get on my nerves sometimes!

  • @Ninybird Why? Because she calls out a hot dude for being an asshole? Man, Thornton is so unlikable. I don't see how he can have so many fans.

  • I don't care how proud you are, if your baby is crying because of hunger and someone is handing you money, you TAKE it. I wonder if that would really have happened...

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie :)

  • all I can is YUM....

  • aww the poor little babies at the beginning :( so hungry.. aw. Breaks my heart. I love Thornton's accent. And the way he looked at her! Daaayuuum! He was like undressing her with his eyes! w00t w00t!

  • ok i have to say BBC does some of the best hostorical fiction romance shows I have ever seen.... <3 It ^_^

  • Comment removed

  • If I see the scene from 4:40 to 5:00 again, I will get a heart-attack...this is unbearable to watch..I am always breathless after watching it...

  • The way he looks at her... it's almost indecent lol!!

  • OMG, if he looked at me like that, I would have melted right then and there! LOL

  • i hope somebody as gorgeous as mr. thornton will examine me from head to toe when i'm pouring tea to a cup... sigh!!!

  • Notice the little smile he has after he knocks on the Hale's door...he's very detailed in his acting. They all are. I discover something new every time I watch N&S. RA, as Mr. Thorton, is very easy on the eyes :)

  • The sensuality in Thornton's eyes at 4:45 - 5:00 is unbearable. ;)

  • He is a self made man. He knows what it ia like to be poor. She doesn't get that some will always be poor. They have no education, they well never be able to get a better job than that. They are lucky to have a job. HE gives them a job.

  • quantumpower100: Oh thanks, I didn't know that, I am ignorant about much from that time period. :)

  • Margaret is such a brat with Thornton is this scene.

  • Hrm, they didn't like cotton?

  • Funny! lwe all know what thornton was admiring at 4:45.....not the wallpaper!

  • @DiscoLemonade11 ......hmmm...i wonder

  • So Viskar77, You would be open and friendly toward a man you had witnessed beating a worker as long as he was handsome? Shallow, very shallow!

  • @shinojosa8 I would have been cold to him too. Why would you want to be "friends" with someone who is so morally opposite from you..or so you think.

  • Well said. Sure Thornton is handsome, but their first meeting really does make him seem so morally reprehensible (even though the stupid git could have burned the place down). Margaret is prejudice and maybe prone to rushing to conclusions, but Thornton has been bred to enterprise not to seek moral duty like her family has. It's no wonder it takes longer for them to fall in love!

  • Yes he could have! The issue is like a double sided coin.. One one hand I feel for her and pity her having to see some cruelty..on the other hand he could have lost everything. And oh yeah these two could give Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth a run for their money in both Pride and Prejudice.

  • @MauraAnastasia Git?
