I saw her a number of years ago in Flagstaff opening for Richard Thompson. She only played for about 20 minutes and then Richard Thompson came on and talked about himself and bored me with guitar frettboard tricks. I really resented that. I wanted to listen to Eliza until the small hours of the morning.
I'll be her bass player, bongoist and eraser cleaner anytime. That voice and these words not only gets but calms the goat in me. Kinda like turning on a really good reading light for the first in a long time. Hell anyone can go to Austin. Few can make a real mark.. Babylon indeed, more like ChaoBaby...
Amazing voice: sweet and tender. She's comfortable and secure - very beauriful song and lyrics. My first time seeing Eliza ... I'm a new fan..... Excellent Video.
10* thanks, Leslie, for the share. Oh, she's delghtful - very sweet and a story-teller, too!
I have been seeing her for 15 years or so now....every time she is playing anywhere near me I will go see her! Your description is PERFECT! One of my absolute all time favorites....and so captivating live and in person....Glad you discovered her................
Oh, i'd love to hear more of her banter. . . or see her live. What an awesome, unpretentious poet/musician. Love her music. If only there was a posting of Mother Mary. That song sends chills up my spine.
I heard more of her stage banter than I wanted. I requested "Shadows and Footprints." She said, "soorry, you've stumped the band so you win a poster but we're all out of posters"
It was a caustic nasty response to a well intentioned request. She did describe herself as a "high maintenance woman." Perhaps that was an example.
I enjoyed the performance but that response left a bad taste with me for a while and still.
I don't think uncalled for rudeness is admirable. That's one reason I don't live in a city where people are rude frequently and it's a fact of life. I'm not a baby crying to mama. I'm a decent human expecting the same respect I give.
I like Eliza's music and admire her writing because she espouses values I hold.
Do you assume I think life should be all sweetness? I've lived too long for such naivete. I just don't need to be insulted for no reason.
It sounds like you took her words the wrong way to me. Sounds like she was saying the posters from that era ran out cause it was a long time ago. I don't see anything caustic here.
I think you've maybe lived too long to give people a break. I actually thought you were joking about being offended, as her comment doesn't read at all like an insult.
Please don't buy a kitten. . . you'd probably be offended the first time it walked away from you.

10's of dollars. is market value. I don't think you could handle the big time. I would rate you as more talented than Cheryl Crowe. Go figure

This is a great song. She, much like her father, has the gift.

Well, shit.
Here's the last I'll say on it:

A beautiful, meloncoly song. I always wonder how she is not more popular. A great one not tainted by commercialism.
