  • Thanks for the video! Where i can download this classic version? thanks

  • haha, I started messing around with this program in high school.. hmm the memories, I still have floppies around.

  • What Windows do you use, or is it under DOS you are running this?

If it is under Windows, how du you make it work?

  • @GFOgravedigger I used it under DOSBox, whichever version was the latest version on July 17, 2009.

  • @valcaron

I have Windows 7 ultima now, i have to try it under DOS-box, it did't work under XP

I have alot of 3DS files, you can have some if you want :O)

  • Epic win.

  • I HAVE THIS SOFTWARE - IT IS ON MY WEBSITE UNDER DOWNLOADS! (See Channel for link)

  • @Haunted360 3D Studio Max 4, is not the same as 3D Studio 4.

  • @ebaygeek3 I have 3D Studio 4 though - right? I haven't even tried it yet actually so I don't know.

  • Good job on the video.

Can anyone tell me where i can get 3DS R4 from. Been looking everywhere for it.

  • @rainer2407 I have the software. It is on my site under downloads. Type my name (haunted360) then .com

  • can anybody help me download 3dstudio r4. I need this for my PS1 project.

  • @montimer357 a fellow PS developer! Please join my development. I am working on a 'secret' project at the moment so if your skills are high in PS dev, then let me know! I know what you need this software for, and I have it :)

  • Oh my God.... I'm going back in time!!!!

  • I used to use this at high school... nice

  • Amazing. I remember that trial version that wouldn't handle more than 25.000 vertices :,)

  • I use to be good with this, now its almost faded from my memory.

  • Yep, this was considered the best 3D app on DOS. From 2D to post-prod. I miss this good old days too, but I'm still happy we now have FREE 3D toolset like Blender. Few people could afford 3DS back then...

  • I'm wondering how did you get this copy...

How big is the file size?

Anyways, this one is really cool.(I used to "play" with my Max 8,but this?Just shocked, because it looks more harder to use.)

  • good old days!! really miss them. used to love working on 3ds4 everyday after school. i still remember , i was in my 5th grade and it was 1995.. dang :(. now its all totally complicated software yet cool though nothing like 3ds4 and back in the time ;/..

  • This brings back so many memories. I recall having to mess for a day with the display settings and drivers (VIBRANT) to get the graphics card working properly. That ISA Tseng Labs with 2 megabytes was a luxury back then.

Plus, waiting 2 days for the render to finish. When Max was released, I hated it - all the CAD-like precision of the original was completely gone and the menu looked cluttered and bloated.

After that I dabbled with Moray + POVRay for a while - finally, reflections that worked!

  • Where such program to download?

  • you know you're old when... :)

  • Wow i can render that frame in blender within the time it takes just to display the rendered frame in 3D studio 4. O_o

  • This is amazing! Do you know where can i find a free pdf book about 3d studio r3 or r4? I want to learn to use this software on my old computer.

  • you can find the documentation on the net, but it's really hard to find decent tutorials. if you have some 3d modeling knowledge, these youtube tutorials can help you to figure out how 3ds r4 works .
