i wish DeLarrocha would have recorded this sonata,.... she played the best scarlatti EVER,... her sound was sparkling,... the trills, the the speed/clarity of her repeated notes where exceptional,....
Whereas Agerich attempts to beat the land speed record and that only, Pletnev brings greater musical shape and dynamic contrast to this brilliant miniature.
Sounds weak on piano..the excitement and majesty are gone...sounds good enough but....better to use the piano for those later works of the romantic era..
I like it more than Argerich's version. Pletnev plays it with more contrats, expression and also more tension. Argerich can impress, but under his hands the piece really 'lives'.
This 2 CD set IS EVENT OF the CENTURY ! After all traditionally & based on UNINTELLIIGIBLE RULES & REGULATIONS... " how MUST " ...sounds Scarlatti 's exercises on period of instruments...AT LAST I FOUND ... MASTER 's GRACE ! Mr.Pletnev demonstrated , that these MASTERPIECES are MORE .... then even as a Sonatas ! GENIUS !
This piece belongs to Argerich. For you people who would like to retort, "No one can own a piece of music, you moron!" I would reply, "you're correct, but somehow she manages to. It's quite amazing"

Argerich owns this piece.. He can't keep the speed up and taking a rest at every turn like an old person going up the hill.

Pletnev rules Scarlatti with his fingers..he plays well..way to go lolitapiano

much better from argerich's intepretation....I could say pletnev intepretation is more ''scarlattistic'' :P

Someone should test him for steroid use... Thought I saw him in town with Lance Armstrong the other day.

I like this better than Argerich's. Just feels less rushed and more together.

Stunning. Pletnev is also wonderful in JS Bach- -I've been listening to some quite rare recordings on Youtube of him playing the 6th Partita.

If she owns it, then Pletnev at least owns a stock :P
