@acidfriend47 Well, they only really call it Long Island Iced Tea because of the color it gets when the ingredients are mixed. (Iced tea was apparently a pretty good camouflage for booze during Prohibition, so they made the drink to look like iced tea, lol.)

Amusingly enough, there apparently are some variations of the cocktail that replace the cola with actual iced tea, which is awesome for a number of reasons.

This drinks was actually developed during the Alcohol Prohibition in the 1920's. People would take a mixture of several liqours (usually the only ones the managed to get a hold of), pour them in a glass together, and top it with coke to make it look like an iced tea so people wouldn't be suspicious.
