  • Unique player. Wish he would have held up a little better physically in the pros. He wore down too early. Was he a drinker? His dad let him develop all his moves down at LSU. If Pete would have played for Bob Knight, Pete would have been ruined. Basketball is meant to be played open and free. This shows who is in shape and who can handle the ball. I think Bird left IU because he didn't want to play for Knight, be too restricted.

  • Petar Marovic(Serbian)was the best!(Pete "Pistol" Maravich in English)

  • Pistol...Best Ever. Period.

  • Simply The Best , and I couldn't care less about colors, since I am a real sports fan, I love sports too much to let people's race get in the way.

  • utah stay blessed with point guards.

  • he is my momma's cousin. this is truth.

  • Ricky Rubio is the next Pete Maravich

  • @curtis12388

rubio is a hair of pete's testicles.

  • He's my favourite.

  • pete was way better than jordan!

  • @jdbmcdermet thats a little crazy but i will say this if jordan was god in sneakers pete had to be jesus

  • @jdbmcdermet Agreed.

  • 4:40 how is that not a double dribble?

  • how is it a double dribble? he dribbled picked up the ball took two steps and rose up for a jumper perfectly legal play

  • I dont know what I wrote dude I must have been drunk or something lol

  • THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.

  • Pistol--the best!!

  • 44.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 5.1 apg!!!!!!

  • "i was a basketball android"

  • They calculated his scoring if there was a 3 point line...how about adding about 5 more points per game, if not more in NBA and College.

  • he would have averaged over 50 a game had there been a 3 line.

  • 44 ppg are you insane

  • pistol started it all

greatest player to touch a ball

    enough said

    rip..much respect

  • 44+ ppg is just SICK. Just think, that happened before the 3 point shot as well.

  • he was born with a heart condition I heard that he shouldnt have lived past his teens yet only play basketball

  • Thank you very much for posting this. He's obviously one of the best basketball players of all time, and an inspiration to anyone who has ever tried to dribble a ball. Fantastic player. May he RIP.

  • Pete's record will never be broken mainly because he was the best player of ALL TIME. If he had good polayers around him he may have set the assist record in the same unbreakable fashion. In the pros, the only thing that kept him from scoring records was a knee injury. Still, he set the record for a non-center for points in a game which has only been surpassed by the similarly unsung NC State legend DAVID THOMPSON and Kobe Bryant. Centers do not count anyway in this type of discussion.

  • a true player of the game and a showman rip wher ever u are and much respect

  • I'm going to go ahead and say what I think we all know deep down. When certain players, like Bird and Pistol Pete are brought up, immediately you see racial lines being drawn. Perhaps some white people overrate them, but its just as true that many black folk resent giving them their due. I wish we could just see ballplayers.

Personally, I would put Bird as the #3 greatest ever (behind Earvin & Jordan), with Jabbar #4. Maravich? Special, but maybe top 20. A true original, and I loved him.

  • Pistol may not have been the best, but like many analysts I believe he made basketball a sport for anyone. People went to his games expecting the team to lose but for him to mesmerize. In the end isn't the legacy you leave most important? The best could be debatable, but as far as the most entertaining? No contest.

  • I agree and disagree. You're right that Pete was a showman without peer, and certainly boosted the sports popularity tremendously. Where I would differ is in saying that this aspect is the most important thing when it comes to being a basketball player. I believe that "contributing to the team's overall performance (i.e. success & winning)" is the #1 criteria when it comes to judging the true greatness of a player -- above sheer entertainment value (which I also love, don't get me wrong).

  • seriously you cant say that pete had a better pro career that jordan and on top of that jordan amount of shots was limited in college i dont know if he could average 44 a game but it could have been really close thats for sure they are both some damn good players

  • "I became a human basketball, I was a basketball android"

  • The Pistol, "The Pistol" Baby....

  • The Man that motivated me to really become a better player...

  • Probably the greatest player ever! Born ahead of his time.

  • He died of a rare heart condition not heart attack. He probably should have been dead in his 20's.

  • he died of an autobahn accident.

  • who do u think could break pete's college scoring record?

  • no one will.

  • Pete's college scoring record will NEVER be broken. The offense was set up for him to score, score, and score. It has been charted that if he had todays 3pt line, he would have averaged 13 3's a game and averaged over 50 a game. Mind boggling....

  • his record will never be broken because nobody will shoot that much again.

  • would ray allen shoot as much as pete?? I don't know how much pete shoot but....ray allen shots a lot aswell....

    just wondering

  • best college player ever

  • Shows how much you know, misspelling JORDAN.

    Pete was the best.

  • u go out in ur back yard and get a camcorder and TRY and make those passes and i will guarantee u will not be able to make them

  • Pete was voted one of the 50 best all time NBA players. He could do things with a basketball that we may never see again. Pete could play...

Best ever, no. But "The Pistol" could hold his one with anyone.....

  • Maravich was THE GOODS.

    Word.

  • better than jordan

  • hole-heart next heart attck . he is legend. he is my hero and idol

my pete maravich BIG BIG BIG FAN ! ! !

    ı'm 16 years old.

  • he had the rock in his hands 8 hours a day in the summer

in the winter 4 hours, ladies and gentleman thats amazing that he didnt burn out, wow is all i can say

  • Heart attack.

  • How did he die?

  • Pistol Pete died of a heart attck on the basketball court playing a pick up game with his friends

  • One of the few athletes in the history of ANY sport, where you can honestly say: There has never been anyone like him. Truly an amazing player with a profound desire to be great.

  • Good Video. and good music to. He was a very good player. Exciting.

  • he always made it easier for his fellow players

  • The man didn't have a 3 point line and he still holds NCAA scoring records.

  • My dad used to tell me in Serbia all the kids wanted to be like him, im trying to petition to get a statue erected in his name in Belgrade the city's capital.

  • wow. that's great! I want to be like him too! Good luck on the statue!

  • Pistol Pete and Larry Bird were the best

no one in the NBA today could make the shots they did neither could Jordan

  • and im related to pete maravich, his son and nephews are amazing at basketball too, wonder where they get it from? lol

  • pete maravich and michael jordan were the best

  • you mean pete maracih was better than mj

  • yes in college

  • put pete maravich in a skills challenge against maravich lets see who wins

  • you mean michael right? jordan would win but put the two together in a shooting, handing the ball, and passing skills challenge maravich would win hands .down in his prime.
