I was watching a Stephen Hawking video about the origins of the universe when they played a clip of 'Do You Realize'-- and I ended up here. Long live The Flaming Lips!
They play this song in OKC USA every new years when the clock counts down. This new years was round two. This song reminds me of everyone I have lost in my short 22 years of life. You realize the sun dont go down, its just an illusion caused by the world spinning round.
Tears... Happy tears. My favorite song of all time. Every line is truth. Certain songs make you move forward, this is my favorite of the few. Damn, so epic.
@richardfld went to go see them couple weeks ago at the puyallup fair in WA. im like the only 14 year old at my school that likes them, and that was an astounding show!!!!!!!!!!!!
last year, after watching gorillaz set on the telly, i watched one more song. bbc had the literally brilliant idea of putting this on next. no idea who the flaming lips were, but i wason the verge of crying with how brilliant it was...

Is this a joke? Wayne Coyne is the WORST vocalist on the face of the planet. The reason they use all the production is to distract you from having to listen to that whiny, incredibly weak voice. Notice how he is also completely buried in the mix. You people would probably buy ice in Antactica too, huh?
@rcvideoshooter and i guess you could also slag off dylan, ian curtis and david byrne as well huh? it's not all about having a technically great voice, it's about having one that suits the music, and Wayne's voice is perfect for thbis kind of thing. If we take your reasoning and extrapolate, Michael Bolton's music is better than John Lennon's. Think again, and if this song doesn't bring tears to your eyes, you're a hard hearted guy.
i saw them last summer and when they played do you realize it was that one moment when everything seems right with the world. best concert i've ever been to.
@eldeppe I'm fucking tearing up right now. I absolutely pity anyone who never sees them live, much the way religious people pity people who aren't going to their heaven.
How does this not have more views?

It's such a melancholy song, but I think they appreciate the irony of how nobody seems to care amidst all the celebration
